The thing i will miss most is the reviews, they had the best video reviews of any outlet by far. Competitors like IGN and Gamespot paled in comparison to the astute observations narrated by Brandon Jones. No one did video reviews as well as GT. The rest aren't even in the same league, Truly this is a great loss for gamers. | |
I'm just gonna stick with IGN. Considered joining other gaming forums for years (NeoGaf, Gamespot, Giant Bomb, ScrewAttack) you name it. And I wasn't a fan of the layout or other things. Don't' expect a mass migration to a specific site. We all have our preferences and its nothing personal. There's just not another GT out there and will never be. And all the temporary forum sites, including the nice forum the Kingdom Hearts guys made called Square Alliance, shut down years ago. Along with the Omnigamer one, and a subjectless/GD one. Only place where you can see a nice chunk of the GT community nowadays is in the Omnigamer and GameTrailers steam communities. But they're not very socially active.

Looking at Defy Media brands, I'm surprised they are shutting us down before Gamefront.com. They're ranked far below GT in traffic ratings, and the little I see of the site looks dead and void of activity. TheEscapist.com though looks pretty active, and Ezekiel apparently has a profile there. But yea, it looks like we were removed from Defy's site of brand name sites. | |

Thanks for the valiant effort Go-Taco. You were definitely one of the many users that gave a positive contribution to the community. Unfortunately, were just gonna have to accept this unexpected blow and move on. Pretty much all past attempts to start something off GT failed, due to no recuritment and people getting to busy for forums. If someone joins up then amen. But we all have to be at peace with this loss. And hopefully we'll all be able to do so in a positive light. | |

Funny to see the Naurto ad on the top page leads to the escapist site owned by Defy. If IGN doesn't work out for me, I may be done with forums like many GTers. Fortunately there seems to be a good basketball community there. So much for the idea of factions and blogs potentially returning. But to be honest, while I remained optimistic because how friendly the community is. The recent site overhaul screwup scared away some of the remaining users. And with HD videos being what made this site big back in the day. I wasn't feeling too great about the site's near future in the past 2 months. But still tried to play my part in keeping it active. And I'm happy to see this site did not become a complete ghost town and then was shut down. | |

Thanks friend. Despite a few cancerous users, this is one of the few online forums where users possessed the ability to act civil. I mean there wasn't any extreme personal attack, threatening, homophobic or racist comments I recall seeing in years. I also haven't really met up with anybody and played games with them in years either. I'm going to stick to the Steam Community and after a few days we can see about other websites. I like discussing game but I also liked the full package GT brought. You certainly won't see me over at IGN. Just be on the look out for GoTaco's. Hopefully there are no imposters. | |

I remember trying to join Gamespot a year or so ago. But the signup function was busted and hadn't been fixed in years I believe. Was really only interested in a basketball community since many Gamespot users mifrated to GT almost a decade ago. | |
