Re: PC Subjectless: The Cycle Must Continue

Well, it's typical of Black-Cell at least. :P
I do kind of agree though. Any DRM is bad DRM (including Steam in a way).

I made this awesome character in XCOM2:

It's almost like it was meant to be.

Also mrw I miss three 80-95% shots in 5 minutes

That's pretty badass, I'll upload a picture of my favourite soldier when I get back home xD

Your eyepatch is over the wrong eye!

FAKE! IMPOSTOR!

Okay, home for a day before I fly off to Japan.

Any good movies as of late that would be worth a watch on the flight? Gemme sum recommendations.

-13 Assassins by Takashi Miike (epic swordfights at the end)
-Ghost Dog

But i don't think the Airline has them, or can you take your own movies with you?

how would you name a female pitbull?
i found one near my house and decided to take it in.It came from a shelter and even had a microchip installed.

the thing is it would be better if they dont use Denuvo.

You have literally no proof of this. Like Monkey said, there are tons of games using Denuvo that run great. Mad Max is an open world game that looks fantastic, with some really good effects. And I maxed it out with ease on my 970.

So rather, there's tons of proof that goes against what you said; games that use Denuvo that still run perfectly. That they would "run better without Denuvo", you don't know.

Black-Cell:
case in point games with denuvo sold far less than games without DRM.

Again, WHAT kind of proof do you have of this? Show me the statistics. Show me the sales figures of a large, representative amount of Denuvo-games compared to a large, representative amount of non-DRM games. Show me! If you can't do that, then you have no proof of your ridiculous claim and what you say is horseshit.

you can look at sales of witcher 3 and games that are denuvo protected. former has much better sales. plus Denuvo is VERY EXPENSIVE!! instead of wasting too much money on that stupid DRM they can use this budget on game quality.

Smaller developers are making much better games because they use limited budget on game itself instead of marketing and DRM and not treat PC gamers second class citizen.

Well, that answers that.

Denuvo is expensive? Did anyone here pay more for any of these games because of it? Did you notice a drop in the quality in the Witcher because of it? Nope? Didn't think so.

Get over it man. You're fighting a losing battle here. You're complaining about one of the least intrusive, best working forms of DRM yet simply so you'll have something to complain about.

I don't think Witcher 3 sold better than DAI or MGS V despite its DRM free policy(GOG). In fact, it did not even make top 10 best selling games of 2015, I think. I am pretty sure most of the people who buy Denuvo protected games are not aware of its existance. I sure didn't know DAI or MGS V used it until the discussion came up here.

Err, where the hell do I go now? This is the only forum I've been using the last few years. I like having a forum to hang out in.

Yeah. This is making me far more sad than it probably should, but man... I've grown really attached to this forum.

Everyone who hasn't joined the Gametrailers Steam group (http://steamcommunity.com/groups/steam_gametrailers) should do so now, mainly to make it easier to have a sort of hub.

edit: Also maybe someone better at using Reddit than I am could make a "GT Remnants" subreddit. (tried to, have no idea what I'm doing)

What, really...? This is about the only gaming forum I've ever been on. :I

Well, the death of GT has been a recurring joke for the last 5 years. It was only a matter of time. As bizarre as it sounds, I only signed in at random, not knowing it would be the last time. Haven't posted here regularly for years. In any case, take care, farewell and all that.

Bai.

Copy-pasted from the sticky in GG:

Yeesh, talk about shocking news. :(

Anyways, it's been fun. And worst comes to worst (GT forums don't get migrated elsewhere in the Defy system, for example) I'll see you when I see you. Steam nick's ChaosBahamut (http://steamcommunity.com/id/chaosbahamut/) if you want to chat/game/whatever. (a word of warning, not so good with 1 on 1 chats so forgive me if I'm rusty)

And in case anyone's curious/thinking we were hiding anything, we found out pretty much the same time you guys did. And from the looks of it, the GT staff didn't have much warning either. :(

Even though I was never a fan of the redesigns, gonna miss this place.

I have to thank the GT PC community for making me more tech knowledge, and teaching me the basics of building a PC and what each part does. Which I will do someday for sure once my finances are better.

Hopefully you guys will cherish the time you had here and enjoy whatever Steam or other communities you're a part of.

Okay, 100% serious, where do we move?

Reddit is awesome but I don't think this thread's structure works well in a Link-posting environment.

Discord is IMO a really awesome chat hub. Text and Voice chat separated into channels. Think TeamSpeak + IRC with an actual UI.
It has a Web-Client and a Standalone Program.

I made a server/room.
https://discord.gg/0oig4ToFknRo6l6w

(I kindly ask you that you use your GT Name)

Visit, make an account (optional), see if you like it.
Be it used as a temporary place to meet up until a new place is established, or a permanent new format.

I'm very sad to see GT go, but I see no reason why this thread/forum's long-lasting community should dissolve.

I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your site as I've enjoyed the content over the years.

If any of you are interested, my gaming community well be more than happy to welcome each and every one of you with open arms. We're not "huge" by any stretch, but we're very close knit.

http://www.dayonepatch.com/

We have our own Discord channel as well as podcasts that we've started!

I'm SFLUFAN on DayOnePatch as well as a few other gaming related sites, so it's possible you've encountered me.

Pretty much this, I only used the GT forums.

Now I'll be lost like a few people here D:

ah christ, this was my favourite forum.

what the hell? why?

where do i go now?

can we all jump to escapist forums?? because layout looks like same

Joined the GT Steam community. Although I won't be active on it for some time.

Black-Cell:

It does look similar and seems a little more active. It is owned by Defy so some won't be pleased with that.

I think though some people are questioning their future of whether they should bother using forums. I know whenever GT's death was discussed, numerous people replied this will be the last forum they will use. And Longview is already calling it a quit for forums because he can't be bothered starting all over. Which I don't blame him or others.

Defy should merge all of our account to Escapist website. we dont want to loose our Accounts!!

It has been a pleasure, guys.

Nearly 8 years....gone...like tears...in rain.

But seriously it has been a pleasure guys, the actual content on GT has never been a huge part of why I stayed here, it has always been the community, from the early days when the PC enthusiast faction was active and levels were a thing to 3 (4?) forums later where this thread is the only reason I come here. I owe this forum (in one of its many forms) for really igniting my interest in PC gaming and a huge amount of advice when I was initially doing my fist build nearly a decade ago.

I personally think the idea of setting up a new Steam Community group specifically for subjectless regulars or and IRC as suggested by Luny would be the best idea. Defy & The Escapist can go fuck itself and as mentioned previously Reddit isn't best suited to how we post.

My Steam, I know I have a lot of you but please add me if not:

I also agree that Steam is the best way for us to keep track of each other. There is a GT group that you can join if you haven't already, and we can continue to chat it up there. Also of course, there is the friend list :)
