Tbh at this point I think people aren't expecting much to come from EA in the coming times so that ain't a situation that will be new, the statement is odd in that it contradicts what was said a week earlier and comes at a bizarre timing of MS being the focus of people's attacks.
The only thing that EA has that interests me is Dragon age... which at this point can even turn out to be bad like DAII.
I really enjoyed Mirror's Edge, and Alice Madness Returns.
The first two Dead Space games were pretty great.
ea has talent in their development studio's, its just a shame they end up killing off a lot of their talent and ruin games by by incorporating in ways to make money on dlc.

I'd love a card game where the Upad let's you interact with your deck/shuffle/hand and when you'd tap them on the screen whatever they were would be summoned, kind of like if you're playing an episode of Yu-gi-oh, right on the console.

But addressing your other point on fanboys, anyone that couldn't understand why people wouldn't like the Wii are just dumb. I loved the Wii, but looking at from my friends' or other people's perspectives I could understand why they thought it was a lame console. Not many features and far and few good games.
I understand some of the hate for Wii U. Nintendo shot themselves in the foot AGAIN with not putting enough games out in launch and people totally have the right to wary about Wii U. Though, we do know that the games are coming and we'll them at E3. I'm expecting a 3DS like comeback from the Wii U, but we'll see.
Right now I would say Sony is in a great position to exceed at E3 and in-term their launch. Show a lot of games at E3 and actually have games at launch and they're good (except the price might be a lot so that could cause a problem).
