Re: Official Wii U Discussion Thread V: W11

Will be good to see more of X, it was the most interesting game in the January ND.

Just put a preorder down for:

Game&Wario
Pikmin 3
Deus Ex
Watch Dogs
Rayman Legends
Arkham Origins

Unfortunately there's no SKU yet for NSLU. Soon as that pops up I'll grab it too.

i was hyped as soon as i saw it was by monolith soft.

Hnng Kirby All Star is still beautiful

Edit: meant Super Star, whoops

i never really used the cloud on xbox.

if it was some onlive/gaikai stuff i would be a little more interested... if they ironed out the kinks

Yeah services die. If consoles do, they can be fixed.

I'm just too old school.

Yeah, fuck that. I want a different 3D Mario for Wii U

The next game is hinted to take influence from both Sunshine and Galaxy.

Yeah, the Wii U needs to have a new 3D Mario. I wouldn't mind seeing Sunshine 2 or Galaxy 3 on the 3DS though.

Yep I'd rather a new idea for a 3D Mario game.

Also not sure if this was posted yet but here are the latest rumours of what to expect from E3 and ND:

1. New Retro project is "an old Nintendo IP no one thought they'd have the guts to make but they finally did it". Says it's Star Tropics U.
2. 3D Mario development began after Galaxy 2 on Wii was done and brings together new levels and concepts into a HUGE world. Says one of the debated titles was "Super Mario Retroverse U".
3. New Zelda is a mid-2015 title at the soonest. Aiming to have the game look like the tech demo from two years ago.
4. Mario Kart U is a souped up Mario Kart 7 with Miiverse integration.
5. Super Smash Bros. 4 will be unveiled with new roster additions, some unveiled during the Direct, some kept a secret.
6. Possible Wii U price cut or ambassador program for early adopters.
7. Both X and Yarn Yoshi will have trailers.

1. I would love to see that, doubt it though.
2. Quite possible.
3. When they need that much time to make a great Zelda game, so be it.
4. Hm, a bit disappointing but since my copy of 7 was stolen and havn't bought a new one yet, I would just get this. Also doesn't mean there won't be new content.
5. I hope they keep some secret.
6. Wouldn't mind free downloads image
7. Most probably happening.

I can't wait to hear about the new Zelda.

Star Tropics makes sense in a way because it's the only Nintendo IP developed entirely in the west with no Japanese release, some Japanese developers living in the west developed it. The game could really fit Retro's approach.

A Wii U price cut + Ambassador program and I'm in depending on how big the cut.

I got a 3DS with the price cut AND Ambassador program and made out.

This will be fantastic since the 3DS really didn't have any games up till the price cut and the Wii U will have just been hitting stride.

Personally, I think the WU will need a cut when the PS4 comes around (depending on it's price).

The WU can't be just $50 less than a PS4 (going with the PS4 being just $400 as rumored).

Shin'en Multimedia have defended the hardware capability of the Wii U, sharing their belief that the industry needs "better games" rather than "much more hardware power."

With the hardware advances made by PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, many have refused to classify Nintendo's latest within the same next-generation bracket.

Yet the German studio are adamant that the Wii U has far greater potential than many in the gaming community realise, and that it is through game design that the industry must now focus upon.

"Of course the Wii U is not the big leap hardware power-wise but it is a big leap to the Wii, and to be honest I think we've reached a point where we don't need so much more hardware power - we need better games," Shin'en Multimedia's art director Martin Sauter explained during an interview with Game Reactor.

"For every game you can make it look so good that it's good enough for everybody, and I think the Wii U is a good compromise between price point... because don't forget you have a tablet controller, you have a great hardware base and it's much better than everybody reads."

He continues, "It's better than Xbox - sorry, it is better - and you can squeeze lots out of it, but you have to really work hard on it and I think you can make great games with it.

"I'm not sure if a much more powerful PS4 will produce much better looking games. We've reached a point where good games will sell and I think the steps will be much much smaller in the next generation."

I keep hearing this, sounds amazing! image

Anything developed by Retro that isn't Metroid will make me feel disappointed. I want a new Metroid game asap.

Never heard of Star Tropics, i read that its an action adventure so has the potential to be good too... but i still need my Metroid. Sorry.

It was alot like Zelda but was arguably better.

Nintendo can develop a Metroid game without Retro.

Yeah but i doubt they will show it at this E3. Specially considering how Retro said they were working on a space franchise everyone expects... that can only mean Metroid.

There are lots of rumors about Retro Studios. I still really want to see a new IP from Retro, they don't need to be involved with Metroid anymore.

I just want a Metroid thats all, and i saw this as the closest possibility for the short term. How are you enjoying Other M btw?

Well when Capcom can send Dinosaurs into space (Dino Crisis 3), and Nintendo Mario, everything can go into space, it's even calle STAR Tropics image
I never played the 2nd one yet, even though I have it on VC (never released in europe before) while I have the 1st as original NES cartridge. Is there scince fiction in it?

That would be incredible if the rumour is true! Startropics is another title I've been waiting for on the VC.

Thats all very true, but the hint is not in the word space, but in "the space game that you expect" And there is only one space game that we expect from Retro, and that is Metroid. But anyway i know even that sentence is probably just a rumor.

But the Metroid fan in me just wanted to have something new to play. If Star Tropics looks good ill definitely buy it too.

Nintendo clearly want Retro to be diverse to the point that they can trust them with almost any franchise with a bit of guidance to free up other teams for other projects or to be good enough to do their own projects to add to the library like what Monolith are doing, continuously giving them Metroid doesn't help that cause much like Rare moved on from Donkey Kong. We'll see a Retro developed Metroid in future yes but don't hope for it to be all they make everytime their name is mentioned.

So far we've got Metroid, DK and MK from them so a Zelda like adventure game like ST would be a real chance to see their talent with out banking the actual Zelda name on it, I'd like Metroid but be a bit disappointed it wasn't them applying their talent to something else as we already know what to expect from a Metroid game by Retro.

Nintendo and Cloud gaming

Wii U really needs an option for Cloud.

As long as it's not forced down our throats, I can deal.

And I cannot wait for the next 3D Mario. Hopefully they can leave "U" out of the title though unless it fitted with the name like "Mario Universe"

MK is a bit of a stretch isn't it? They only made one track and helped out a little with the development.

I agree that Metroid would be disappointing. The trilogy was amazing but they've done that now. I'd much rather see something else, possibly a reboot of StarFox. Preferably I'd like it if they're working on something that I would have never expected, something that can blow me away.

A new Metroid would be great and I'd play it, of course. But I wouldn't be blown away by it, no matter how good it may look visually etc. I want something new from RETRO image

Concerning Mariokart, I think that perhaps they worked on it for a very specific reason. They could be reviving a futuristic racer that is an olde Nintendo franchise...

There have been plenty of rumours of it coming out on the 3DS but it may be a WiiU title now, 'Mach Rider'.

the rumors also say it's space themed which makes me think they would be working on F-Zero instead possibly.
