WiiU sales are still ramping up, the new 3ds (fuck that name) just came out.
Pretty sure it's a new console or handheld.
Seems more like a streaming service than a console.
Interesting. If its a new home console i hope they drop motion controls and that stupid tablet Way to clunky to use imo. Thank god for pro controller..
If it's a new console, then I'm very curious about the specs. Will it trump the PS4/xbox, or will it be on par with those two consoles?
Musou Tensei: Gamer: Not sure if want.
Why not? If it's a new, traditional console.
I think they only announced this because they wanted to try and make it clear they're not dropping dedicated gaming hardware, I don't believe they'll drop the Wii-U or 3DS until around 2017/18.

I hear you. But I remain optimistic for now, since the announcement is meant to reassure that Nintendo isn't abandoning the core gaming business, and it's still the most important aspect for them.
wow they might actually catch up to the current gen in terms of power for once, hopefully this will be good for third parties
if it means all the major multiplatform games will come out on it and they won't be sevearly downgraded on it like they where on the wii then I'd definetly buy this and ditch my ps4

Never heard of Nintendo before the wii then?

Doubt it. It will have a low install base compared to the PS4 and XB1, many third parties don't think their games sell on Nintendo consoles and Nintendo themselves aren't as aggressive as Sony and MS when it comes to third parties.

yes thats when I used to buy nothing but nintendo consoles, but I didn't like the wii so I didn't get it, and I don't like the wii u either so I didn't get that too, but if this "nx" looks like it will support everything like elder scrolls and mass effect and all the other great multiplatform games that never come to nintendo consoles anymore then it might be the first nintendo console I'll start buying again

My biggest fear is that it might be digital only. Fuck it it's too early to think about that, this year has some amazing retail Wii U games in store, Kirby, Yoshi, Xeno, Zelda, Starfox, Rodea. Thinking especially about Kirby and Rodea, seeing those getting retail releases, when other publsihers would most probably make them digital only, gives me hope that at least 1 9th gen system might be still using a physical media.

are you talking about Rainbow Curse?
pretty sure that didn't turn out "amazing"

I decide what's amazing and what's not.

aight just checking,
i actually forgot you lived in Europe so you hadn't gotten it yet, so i thought you were talking about a different kirby coming out >.<
also will license IPs for mobiles. The whole speech was very Nintendo centric, devices for people to follow our work. Certainly their work is excelent but I think that mentality is what is hurting Nintendo hardware business. Making hardware being them the primary focus is what drove away third party support, now they don't seem to be willing to change. However, they may not even have a place in the third party game development scenario anyway.

Yeah, I'm with you there. Physical is a must.

Thats what im thinking, although I doubt we will get much info on it next year outside of a a few more details about how they plan to link Handheld, Home and Mobile games.
Also curious to hear more details about the new loyalty program that DeNA is helping Nintendo create
I want them to return to the transitional and still proven most successful gaming console style with just console and a gamepad similar to ps4 xbox one and wii u pro but bundled with console. If they do this i think it will be successful and get more third part support especially if its on par with ps4 in specs or better.
Zombegoast:
bgates: I doubt it will be very powerful. Anyone remember the news some time ago about Nintendo creating a job post to work on a new LOW POWER architecture console?
The 750ti outperforms the Ps4 in everything. Power consumption has very little to do to determine performance. Having specs worse than the Ps4 and Xbone would be hard to do.
It may not be less powerful than the ps4, but I doubt it would be much more powerful. In 2 years time, the hardware in the ps4 will not be considered powerful anymore, so just matching it doesn't say much.
ok will this replace the wiiu? or what? if its to replace the wiiu then i might be done with nintendo. like i bought a wiiu expecting it to be supported etc until like 5 years or more. now we are already hearing about a new home console doesnt sit well with me i paid money for the wiiu now they are jumping ship. idk i might be misunderstanding the whole thing.
Nintendo finally go mobile

all i know is they better support the Wii U until atleast 2018
When you think about it the 3DS came out in 2011. So it wouldn't be beyond the stretch of imagination for the replacement to that to come out 2 years from now.
Im betting QoL, not a new console.
