If silence is golden, as they say, then my family is probably broke, but broke in the best possible way. We're not quiet at all, and even if we try to be there's enough of us that even the sound of us trying to be quiet can be deafening.

It's a late edition for my Wednesday submission, but its just been one of those days, I've had plenty of days like this before and there'll be others, but not all of the days like these have been mine alone.

It is no end of amazing what kids can find to amuse and entertain themselves, and add gray hair to their parents. My brothers and I were no exception; four boys will add gray to any single parent after all.

Ah the little pet names wives have for their husbands, affectionate little names that convey a depth of feeling and a little teasing thrown in for good measure.

I spent 90 charming days on a tropical island in the middle of nowhere, it was actually the first 90 days of Operation Enduring Freedom. It was interesting times, first off my tent was less than 100 yards from the ocean and we were surrounded by coconut trees.

One usually is not surprised by spring snowstorms out west in the Rockies, but in Milwaukee? Spring is normally well underway by April, and certainly by May. First the hyacinth, then the daffodils, and finally the tulips should be well up.

I've always like coffee, it was a staple growing up because morning out in the sticks starts early and a kick start to the day helps open the eyes. I've never really understood the foofoo coffee trend we're in now, cappuccinos, lattes and espressos don't do much for me.

Fun and for that matter happiness is where you find it. Probably a cliché, heaven knows enough people have said it through the long march of history, but its not something you can tell people and make it true, it's something that each of us needs to find for ourselves.
