June 19th, 2011 -- We have tweaked the display setting for iPad and Android tablet users to make the main site more legible by default in landscape mode without additional zooming.

June 6th, 2011 -- We have implemented SSL web encryption for all login features. Full SSL encryption of the login area will protect our members from information eavesdropping/theft on insecure networks such as airports, public libraries, coffee shops, and all wifi-hotspots.

Encryption is now mandatory for login access and is highlighted by a lock symbol in your browser's url field. If you are unable to access the login area due to security prompts from your browser, please upgrade to the latest version of your favorite modern web browser.

May 27th, 2011 -- Private Messaging (PM) feature received a significant update today. The system has been rebuilt to scale with the growing daily volume and fine-tuned to be compatible with mobile devices.

Summary of changes:

1. PM version 2 (v2) is launching for both mobile and desktop users. Mobile users are now finally in-sync with their private inbox.
2. PM conversation threading now takes form similar to the presentation style of SMS messages.
3. Messages stored in the old PM system prior to 5/27/2011 are accessible via the PM archive link for 60 days of this announcement or until 7/27/2011. After July 27th, messages stored in the old system will be removed.

Misc notes: We have fixed an issue causing delay in the delivery of password recovery, email modification, and account registration emails. May 5th, 2011 -- Starting at 12AM May 6th US Pacific Time we will be performing a scheduled upgrade to the review database. During this estimated 6 hour maintenance window, select features will be disabled in the login area and new reviews submitted during this period will not be visible until the completion of the upgrade. April 12th, 2011 -- We have resolved all outstanding issues which affected site service for much of yesterday. Please note we are upgrading the forums engine and some forum features will be inaccessible over the next 24 hours. April 11th, 2011 -- The login area for story and review submission has been disabled while we resolve an issue which has cropped up in the last 24 hours. A recent software upgrade is causing stability problems and we are working to have all the systems back online as quickly as possible. April 6th, 2011 -- LibreOffice is now the recommended office suite for FanFiction.Net. If you are still using OpenOffice or MS Office/Word, we recommend everyone try out the free alternative of LibreOffice. LibreOffice is fully supported by our story submission engine.
