Extended Hours Trading
Question

I put in a market order last night after the market had closed, and when the trade was placed this morning, the price I paid was much more than I thought. How did that happen? Why didn't I get the same price I saw quoted last night?

Backtesting Time Span Strategy Explained
Question

Dear Brett,

Thanks for the new backtesting function. Is there a reason it only goes back 15 days?

Anonymous Trader

Answer
collapse

Dear Trader,

Thank you for asking! Yes there is. Trade-Ideas™ Backtest is a strategy-based backtesting tool rather than a symbol-based backtesting tool. This means you are testing how specific Trade-Ideas strategies will do in the current market environment.

As we all know, especially in light of recent events, the market can change rapidly, causing strategies which worked only a short time ago to be less than ideal today. For this reason, our backtesting tool goes back 15 days, giving you a current look at how your strategy would have done.
