Pumping Up Conversion using Analytics-Driven Site Search and Navigation
Your Metrics = Relevance
You can’t have a conversation about search without talking about relevance. And when it comes to site search on business Web sites, there really aren’t shades of gray — if it’s not relevant it’s irrelevant.
I’ve worked with hundreds of businesses over the years to help them optimize site search results to meet specific KBRs, and the one comment I can make is that what’s relevant to one business may not be to another. Businesses cannot afford to leave search results to chance, which is why it’s critical that today’s site search results reflect the most important metrics for that business (e.g conversion rate, top searches, most orders, etc.).
