The Beatles - Oopsology - 4 Disc Set

Oopsology is a 4 CD collection of officially released Beatles tracks that have been processed using the Out Of Phase Stereo (OOPS) technique. This process uses audio phase cancellation to diminish or eliminate sounds that placed in or near the middle of the stereo mix. The end result is a monophonic audio signal.
From the time of "Revolver" forward, the Beatles and George Martin pushed themselves to experiment in many areas of their music, including the mixing of their songs. This resulted in the very peculiar placement of many instruments sounds effects and vocal tracks in the final mix.

Usually, OOPSing a song will result in a karaoke-type effect, removing the vocal track but leaving most of the instrumental tracks intact. This is the case with many of the songs on this set where The Beatles' lead vocals are diminished leaving the instrumental performances for you to enjoy. However, there are many songs such as "Birthday" or "Eleanor Rigby" where the instruments where mixed in the middle, and the vocals were placed hard left and right. Oopsing these songs gives you an opportunity to hear the vocal tracks isolated from the instruments.

Every song on this set was selected because oopsing it resulted in a track that sounded significantly different from the official release. In a few cases, hearing these differences comes at the expense of slightly reduced fidelity. These tracks have been tweaked to improve listenability, but a few imperfections remain; an unavoidable result of the OOPSing process. Unfortunately, these imperfections are embedded in the source material and are nearly impossible to eliminate.
