I'm not enjoying it very much unfortunately. It has its moments but I don't like the heavy focus on combat, not just because that's not what I want from a Metroid game but I find the combat to be dull and repetative for the most part. I hope the next Metroid is more of an adventure game but backtracking and stuff like that seems to be a big "no" these days.
I see. Other M is not as intricate in its design as Prime or SM, but it has a ton of backtracking. At one point you will have to be constantly moving through the entire area of the game, well i did at least to complete it 100%. But given the criticisms im sure the next Metroid wont be as linear.
Most reviews I read about Prime 2 back in the criticized the game because it was too hard to figure out where to go, while Prime 3 got lots of praise for being more accessible. So I don't really what direction the series is gonna go to. I do give Other M credit for being different though which for me makes it kinda the "Majora's Mask" or "Zelda II" of the series if you know what I mean.
Yeah i know, but eventually i think instead of just cutting back on the exploration of the game maybe if they don't make it as cryptic people wont complain so much. Im sure they can figure out something. I Hope.
MP2 was my favourite: best story, design, structure, power ups, ideas, etc.. I'd love to replay that game in HD with added WiiU features. Metroid Other M did a great job of being like Zelda 2 & I applaud the change of direction. I just wished they had let a developer like Treasure make the new Metroid, that would be epic!
Dito. Prime 2 is my favorite Metroid game, and in my opinion it is the most atmospheric in the entire series.
Echoes 2 imo is the worst in the trilogy, tried to hard to find middle ground between shooters of the time and Prime, felt more like an expansion pack then sequel tbh. OM had flaws but was a good attempt at bringing non first person Metroid into 3d, they should stick to that approach and build on it for a while as it felt closer to the 2d games then Prime as in the latter Samus loses her mobility and arguably a large chunk of her ability is negated. They can go back to Prime's approach after they've given it some time.
Prime 2 is my favorite 3D Metroid but it isn't as good as Super Metroid imo. For me Prime 1 was a great recreation of the Metroid series and Prime 2 kept what made Prime 1 good and made it darker, more challenging, more complex and better.
Completely agree, you sir have great taste.
I really liked all the Prime games.
Thank you sir Earthmanbrick
Impossible! | |
Prime 3. | |
I agree with both of you guys. Prime 2 is ridiculously awesome. Loved everything about the game. And don't even get me started on Other M. Ugh!
| |
The first Prime was the best of the lot imo.
Agreed the design and all was genius, Miyamoto lead Retro well. The battles with Prime and Meta Ridley were very tense.
Metroid Prime 2 was considered too hard by critics???? wait what?!?!?!?! i hate this generation of gamers. fucking noobs.
i duno i thought the final battle between Emperor Ing & Dark Samus in Prime 2 was better & alot more tense than the Metroid Prime & Meta Ridley battles. those battles were awesome two, but i guess i just loved the Emperor Ing battle alot more because it was alot more challenging. having to kill that thing 3 times only to finish the battle, run to the exit and then while the timer of death is going, who do you find but none other than Dark mother fucking Samus blocking your path. it was all pretty tense and each battle between the different forms of Emperor Ing and then Dark Samus were extremely different from each other. i duno i just thought Emperor Ing with Dark Samus was the best boss fight of the series
Fair point Echoes did have better bosses how ever I felt as a game Prime flowed far better, Prime's moment was really the whole game as the design was that good, Echoes is not a bad game it's just the weakest overall in an extraordinary trilogy imo.
i reckon Prime 3 was the weakest. too easy, too linear & extremely predictable. also not having Dark Samus stalk you in it, like she did in prime 2 sucked. it was like she wasn't even relevant to the story anymore.
I diskike Prime 2 for the stupid safe zone mechanic, you leave the zone and lose constantly energy, I hate that, in every game, ist's so unecessary.
I love Prime 1 and 3, 2 was a bit too complex and I dislike the 'dark world' theme.
It was initially handy capping, but as the game progressed new upgrades enabled longer traversal of Dark Aether(and eventual immunity) As a result, new areas were opened up in places that had already been explored. This, in my opinion; is what Metroid games are all about.
This is just wow lol | |
dat definitive version
|
| |
Yeah and I was very glad and the game became much better once I was immune to that. But I had to look up if something like that even happens in the game, else I would have probably quit without finishing it.
Corruption's only problem was it was more linear tbh as a game it's better then Echoes as the latter had flaws in it's approach and when playing through it.
lol, is that real? | |
I didn't had any problems with Prime 2. I also think it has the best boss fights in the series, I especially like the bosses that obtained your power ups and you it against you. What I disliked about Prime 3 was the linear action focused gameplay, the easy difficulty (I didn't die once), the controls and just the whole game was unmemorable to me.
The controls were the best thing added to the trilogy after Prime's design, Echoes has a weaker design then the other games and a flawed approach in areas, the whole light and dark world thing is best left to Zelda games not Metroid. Corruption is easier because it controls better, I have the Trilogy bundle with reworked controls and the previous games feel much easier with them.
Well, I disagree ^^ | |
That's hilarious | |
I hope not. | |
and I was literally going to pick it up this weekend. Oh well. Loved it on 360 but as enticing the gamepad is that much missing. Not so much.
It's even missing the Exit option... O_o
