It wasn't until the Friday of this years San Diego's Comic Con that I realized this was my 5th year going. What all has happened in 5 years?To name a few:
- Witnessing Daniel Kayser in a Batman Outfit being chased off by our camera guy while Amanda in a Wonder Woman outfit, the rest of the crew and myself just falling over laughing.
- Saw celebrities like Robert Downey Jr, Jon Favreau, Olivia Wilde, Mythbusters Crew, Joss Whedon and Chris Hemsworth less than 6 feet away from me.
- Getting to shake the hands of Stan Lee, Mark Hamill, Mark Sheppard and Sam Jackson
- Buying so many geeky things I've had to rearrange my place several times over
Essentially, Comic Con has always been a strange but amazing time for me. It's harder work than you might think, but we always manage to pull out some great shows. It's usually two or three straight days of battling the thousands of others who have made their way down to San Diego. No carts are allowed on the show floor, so it means hauling the pounds of camera equipment and lights everywhere on your back. And scheduling with celebrities and their companies can be rough, so we end up rubber banding all over Gaslamp and the show floor to get everything as opposed to having any semblance of a nice neat path.
That said! Even though I came away this year without having bought anything, a massive sunburn that i'm still nursing and a sore back from lifting....I enjoy Comic Con and I can't wait until next year.
