Sleeping Dogs Is Getting A Way Better Version In Hong Kong

Written by: Dan Seitz | July 31, 2012 at 8:37AM

In the US Sleeping Dogs will be released with different pre-order bonuses for different retailers. Of course the pre-orders will eventually come out as DLC; we've all seen this happen before.

Hong Kong, on the other hand, is seeing a much different and way better deal.

A "Hong Kong special edition" is coming to that market and, possibly as a celebration of its setting, it's loaded. You get the Police Protection, Martial Arts, Deep Undercover and Georges St-Pierre DLC, plus limited edition packaging. Here in the US, you can get the Police Protection DLC as a GameStop preorder, the Martial Arts content from Amazon, Deep Undercover from Wal-Mart and Georges St-Pierre from Best Buy.

To add insult to injury, this limited edition will also be available for $388HKD. At current exchange rates that works out to be about $50. Yes, Hong Kong gets more content for less money.

It is true that the US gets the game first. It'll hit American shelves August 14th and Hong Kong gamers will have to wait until August 17th. And the game is a tribute to both the city and its beloved crime movies.

Still, all that and ten bucks off? Ouch.
