Hawken Adds Oculus Rift Support

Hawken has won accolades and has built a lot of buzz behind it for its hard-hitting mech FPS action, and we'll be talking with the Adhesive Games team in our next Side Mission Briefing about the game and what it's trying to do.

And now it's teamed up with another indie darling: The Oculus Rift.

The Oculus Rift is a highly successful Kickstarter designed to finally bring virtual reality gaming to the masses. So far, though, it's only available as a dev kit that can be preordered.

It's also gotten the support of some major names, such as John Carmack and Cliff Bleszinski, but only one of them has backed it with an actual game, so far. Doom 3: BFG Edition will be Rift-compatible.

Now Hawken has officially thrown in behind the Oculus Rift as well. The free-to-play game will be fully compatible with the Rift when it launches this December.

Our Take: All we can say is that between this virtual reality compatibility and the insane custom controller that debuted at E3, this is probably as close as we'll get to piloting a combat mech in our lifetimes.

So, where do we send all our money? To Adhesive directly, or is there a payment plan? We know it's a free-to-play game but we could work something out.
