Her revenge knows no limit

Taylor Swift is already back with a new song called "... Ready For It?" even though her fans and haters haven't had the time to fully process all the implications of "Look What You Made Me Do" just yet! It has been difficult for anyone to ignore her comeback - the music video for the song has already broken the following records:

  • biggest debut of any music video in YouTube history, with 43.2m views in the first 24 hours (beating Psy's 38.4m and Adele's 27m)
  • most streams on first day of release on Spotify, with 8m plays
  • most plays in the first 24 hours for a lyric video with 19m YouTube views (more than double the record previously held by the Chainsmokers and Coldplay's recent duet with 9m views)
  • Taylor Swift's first ever No. 1 single to enter the UK charts in its debut week, with 30,000 downloads and 5.3m streams
  • probably the most expensive filmed bathtub scene in history, with the diamonds surrounding her being reportedly worth more than $10 million
The release is embroiled in controversy, with the bathtub scene alleged to be a crass reference to Kim Kardashian's 2016 life threatening Paris robbery. The traumatic event saw the reality TV star gagged and brutally tied up in a bathtub with a gun to her head, while some $10 million worth of jewelry and diamonds were stolen from her by a gang of masked robbers. Has Taylor Swift gone too far with her revenge, crossing the line of decency by mocking horrific events that could have cost the life of a mother-of-two? Fans are already calling the move "as low as it gets" and "literal trash." One thing is certain: we can expect Kanye West to 'clap back' and attempt to destroy her 'reputation' in the near future.

"... Ready For It?" is the second song released from Swift's new upcoming album reputation. It doesn't have a music video yet, but we can expect more slithery moves from her judging from some of its lyrics. Listen below.

Me, I was a robber first time that he saw me
Stealing hearts and running off and never saying sorry
But if I'm a thief, then he can join the heist
And we'll move to an island
And he can be my jailer
