Welcome New Users!

With all of the great new users who join the Newsvine community every day, it's hard to keep track of everybody. While the majority of new users are thoughtful people looking to make a positive impact on the community, inevitably you will have your automated spambots, your trolls, and other people abusing the system.

To help curb the proliferation of these accounts, all new users begin in a "New User" state. In this state, you have all privileges except the following:

• The uploading of photos
• The ability to put HTML links in comments
• The ability for your articles and seeds to show up on The Vine

On the bright side, we feature all new users in our section called The Greenhouse. The Greenhouse is a place to get discovered. Write a few articles or seed a few links and you should get on the Vine in no time. Once you are eligible for Vine placement, all of your articles and seeds will retroactively be placed on the Vine as well.

If you feel you've made contributions to the site and gone unnoticed, please feel free to contact us. It is the goal of the Newsvine team to get people onto the Vine as quickly as possible.
