Fri Nov 2, 2007

Boeing may junk worldwide assembly for next jet...but is the real reason problems with the 787 supply chain model?
Fri Nov 2, 2007
I don't blame Mike for being bitter on this issue: he's a very capable guy but was the sacrificial lamb for the 787 falling by the wayside.
Level 3 storm about to hit Wall Street
Sat Nov 3, 2007
They are really in strife: the entire valuation model these guys have used is about to come undone and when they start putting some real values here, it will all fall apart...
I don't think a taxpayer bailout would be stomached now: 9/11 was an external impact at a time when Goldman Sachs remuneration bore some measure of sanity.
Prickly relations on display as Saudi king visits Britain

Pretty much all of them I would imagine...and the UK government and BAe in association.
Passengers revolt after being told to fly on jet with its wing tip missing
Sun Nov 4, 2007
I think Sri Lankans don't do animal sacrifices...but then again, maybe the odd sacrifice parying for the sanity of Air Lanka's aviation safety officers may actually have some benef …
Not knowing the exact nature of the impact its best to play it safe, but these planes are pretty tough and such damage is pretty much safe to fly with.
Having re-read the article it does seem to leave things hanging a bit, but nevertheless the concern of passengers is well founded: at the end of the day safety is not just actualit …
Actually, think of it this way: the plane has been involved in an accident that has seen a part of the aircraft removed, one which is obvious to passengers.
Boeing completes firm configuration of 747-8 airplane
Wed Nov 7, 2007
I have not seen the detailed specs yet so I cannot comment, but the 747-8 program is a winner simply because of the freighter success it is enjoying.
Airbus are going to be focusing efforts on the A350-XWB: as soon as Boeing has the 787 well under control, they will be able to turn their attention to the 737 replacement.
Saudi Prince orders Airbus A380

Partisan Hack, trust me that corrosion in metals exposed to saltwater is almost as bad an issue now as it was in the 1970s: this is definitely a recent loss.
Goldman Sachs rejects rumours over writedowns
Wed Nov 14, 2007
Actually, right now I am hearing from a few friends in the Supply Chain Industry of warehouses bursting at the seems and more stuff on the way with nowhere to put it.
The inventory numbers essentially mean that there will need to be deep discounting of some items prior to Xmas, just to give that inducement to move stock.
caltha-palustris, there's a saying on Bozzor street..."A house built on stilts of @!$%# will eventually ensure its residents end up where they belong..." ;-)
Sarcasm keeps me going. In fact, it's one of the few things I have that stops me just throwing it all away. I cannot believe that people cannot see what's coming.
Looked at Buiter's piece; whilst I agree with much of what he says, I take exception about the statements to "inside assets" and the overall idea of a closed loop, zero sum system …
Unexplained Blue Cloud Floats, Darts Around Customers At Gas Station

Probably is. Either way, it is worth investigating, if for no other reason than to see how something can be mistakenly perceived.
US economy at tipping point for a recession: will $100 per barrel oil be the tipping point?
Fri Nov 16, 2007
Very good analysis there ISPY: I do believe that the one saving grace for the US economy is Canada's shale oil: with extraction costs under $30 per barrel (and likely to drop to ar …
Surfer dude stuns physicists with theory of everything
Fri Nov 16, 2007
It is stunning if true, but I would definitely like to read more about it before I make up my (somewhat limited) mind as to what it means.
