There's a name in there that I can see when I run a whois from the GD website – Zach in TX. Is that someone your client knows?

I suspect though that this is a config thing on the MS side because if you go to the "Gallery" of customer websites, they all seem to start in the same way.

Check the Whois information to see if you can find the new contact's info.
If it's still your client's info because whomever picked up the domain name wanted to hide, the client should be able to get the login info sent to them and take over the domain name again.

default.aspx is your default document, that's all. Nothing 'less legit' about it, really. The only thing that's less legit about your site is that it's still got the default 'build your template' text in it! =D

You're probably out of luck, unfortunately. Unless they're doing it with malicious intent and you can prove it in court, that's pretty much just the name of the game out there when you let something lapse.
You might start out with a contact to their current registrar with your complaint and be able to have …
