How do I protect my privacy in the Community?

You can control who views your profile information by changing your Privacy settings.  Click My Account in the grey subnav from your homepage. Next, click Privacy and click ‘Save Changes’ after you have edited your settings. Remember: Never post or provide any sensitive or account related information to other members of the community.

How do I edit my Profile?

From the My Home page, click Edit Profile. From here you can make changes to your profile, trading information, photos, and files, change the order of your friends and adjust your member settings. Be sure to click Save after you make your changes.

How do I change my profile picture?

From the My Home page click ‘My Content’. If you would like to upload a new picture for your profile picture, select the Browse button, upload the picture, and check the box next to Set as Default. If you would like to select a picture you have already uploaded, simply click the picture and check the Set as Default button next to the picture. Be sure to click save.

How do I change my password?

To change your password:

  1. From the My Home page, click My Account
  2. Click Account
  3. You will be required to enter you old (current) password once and new password twice
  4. After you have entered your new password, click the green Save Changes button

How do I add Friends?

If you find a community member that you would like to add to your Friends, from their profile page, click Add as Friend in the Control Panel box and then click the green Send Friend Request button. Once the other member accepts your Friendship Request, they will appear in the Friends box on your My Home page.

How do I comment on my Friend’s page?

To comment on a Friend's page, access their profile by clicking on their picture on your home page. Once on your Friend's home page, in the Friends' Comments box, click the Add Comment link. Type your comment and click the Submit button.

How do I join a Group?

To join a group, click on the group name and click "Sign up for this group". You will receive an email when your request has been approved.

  1. Public Groups: Anyone can view, edit and post.
  2. Open: Non-members can view posts, but only members can post.
  3. Closed: Only members can view and post.

What do I do if I am invited to a group?

When you receive an email inviting you to a group, you can join that group by following the steps below:

  1. Log into the community
  2. Click the Groups link at the top of the page
  3. Under Group Invitations, click Accept Membership next to the group you would like to join.

How do I post a File, and what kinds of files can I share?

You can post a wide variety of files including your ScottradeELITE layouts (.sco files), Excel, Word, Text documents, and PowerPoint. Remember: Never post or provide any sensitive or account related information to other members of the community.

How do I find other Community members like me?

The search functionality allows you to find other community members like yourself. You can search for other members based on criteria such as city or state, trading experience, or hobbies/interests.

What do the Star Ratings mean?

The Star Ratings allow you to identify quality files, photos, and blogs. You can rate a file, photo, or blog anywhere from 1 to 5 stars. In addition, you earn Points every time you rate something!

What are Points, and how do I earn them?

Points recognize participation and quality contributions to the Scottrade Online Community. By earning Points you can become a Community Contributor, Super Contributor, Master Contributor, or - if you are really ambitious - you can earn the top rank of ELITE Contributor!

You can earn points in a variety of ways including:

  1. Blogging
  2. Uploading files
  3. Comment or rate a file
  4. Commenting on other members blogs
  5. Uploading photos

Your Points do not expire; they continue to accumulate in your account. However, you can not share or transfer your points to other members. Remember, these points do not reflect your trading ability; they are simply a fun way to show how active you are in the Community and may help new people in finding those active members.  

What do I do if I lost my User Name or Password?

If you forgot your password, click the ‘Forgot password?’ link in the Login box. You will be required to enter the email address you registered with and a new/temporary password will be emailed to you. You may then want to change your password to something new memorable.

Your User Name is the email address you registered with. If you forgot the email address you registered with you can email community@scottrade.com.

What does Scottrade Representative mean?

Scottrade Representative means the community member works for Scottrade. Because Scottrade does not offer investment advice or recommendations, Scottrade Representatives are not allowed to make specific recommendations about securities or trading strategies in their blogs or anywhere else in the Community.

In addition, Scottrade Representatives are not able to answer specific account related questions in the community. If you have a specific question regarding your account, please email support@scottrade.com or contact your local Scottrade Branch Office.
