played all three on the nes in japanese and finished them all!
replayed them in english on the snes where they came out as a compilation on 1 cartridge!

you can add my to that list of games never completed from when I was a kid. Sigh, every now and then I play it to relive the memories. That intro was so friggin epic!

What in the world do you want from an NES game? Lest we forget, you had subweapons too...the fire wheel and the gigantic flaming balls (go ahead and laugh) were the best
I do agree about the platforming though; way more precise than it needed to be...it gets even worse in the sequel, with the winds...and don't even get me started on the knockbacks...I would have murdered those freakin birds with my bare hands if I could
I also had the Ninja Gaiden novel...and I always wondered why the teachers assigned us books like Tom Sawyer and The Boxcar Children when they could give us a reading assignment from Ninja Gaiden...LOL
