Make sure to use “favicon” as a title.
Download the new created ‘favicon.ico’ image to your hard drive.
Upload it to your theme folder on the server – skin/frontend/default/your_theme.
Refresh your site to see the changes, do not forget to clear your browser and Magento cache.
Favicon image should be updated.
