With more than a week to go until the big game, tensions are already flaring between fanbases of the Atlanta Falcons and New England Patriots as they get set to compete in the Super Bowl.

A gas station in Gainesville, Ga., announced that it has banned the sale of Samuel Adams beer -- a Boston-based company -- until after the Super Bowl.

According to the Boston Globe, Hadji Chhadua, the station's manager, hung up a sign in the Brown Bridge Exxon banning the sale of Sam Adams after reading a newspaper sports column by Dan Shaughnessy, entitled "It's hard to get pumped up about a Super Bowl against...Atlanta."

"When it comes to Atlanta and its sports fans, we feel nothing. Maybe a little pity," Shaughnessy wrote in the column.

In response, Chhadua told ESPN.com that he had to show "America and Dan that Atlanta has a passionate fan base."

Sam Adams was quick to respond on Twitter after seeing the station's sign.

Win or lose, Chhadua said, the beer will go back on sale after the Super Bowl, set to be played Sunday, Feb. 5, at NRG Stadium in Houston.

The game will air at 6:30 p.m. ET on Fox.
