Charles Krauthammer said President Trump and the Republicans gained little from the short-term budget deal crafted this week.
He said that Republicans had a stronger hand going into negotiations since they control the House, Senate and White House.

"Trump got rolled. The Republicans got rolled. They ended up with nothing."
Krauthammer said he understood why the Republicans took a softer approach to negotiations with the Democrats, since they would "save their fire" for a bigger battle in September.
"That's what they save every time - they saved their fire [but] they don't use it next time."
Krauthammer said Trump is full of ideas, and has some winning ones and losing ones.
"There's no denying the fact that this was not a win," he said. "This is a total loss."
