Political analyst Elise Jordan remarked on MSNBC that defending President Trump is like "hugging a suicide bomber" given that so many of his statements turn out to be untrue.
“My advice would just be to Republicans who do cozy up to him — it’s like hugging a suicide bomber," she said. “He blows you up in the process with him.”
'That's a little strong, Elise," host Craig Melvin laughed.

Jordan's comment came after the president tweeted Thursday that he did not in fact have any tapes of conversations between himself and former FBI Director James Comey. He previously tweeted that Comey should hope no such tapes existed.

...whether there are "tapes" or recordings of my conversations with James Comey, but I did not make, and do not have, any such recordings.

Jordan said that the president's word is not to be trusted and that he wasted the country's collective time speculating over the tapes' existence.
“It would seem as if the president may have been lying all along about the existence of these tapes,” Melvin said.
Jordan argued that any supporters who defended the president after his original tweet about the tapes "just got blown up too."
President Trump has faced accusations that he tried to obstruct justice by asking Comey in private to end the investigation into former national security advisor Michael Flynn. Lawyers have argued that the president has the constitutional authority to pardon Flynn and end such investigations.
