Ingraham: We Demand Our Elected Officials Keep America Safe
Mark Levin: Trump Is Trying to Protect America With 'Extreme Vetting' Policy
New York Democrats immediately went after President Trump on Tuesday, accusing him of politicizing the New York City terror attack that left eight people dead.
Trump took to Twitter this morning to make the case for stronger vetting procedures for immigrants after an Uzbek man ran over people with a rented truck in lower Manhattan on Monday afternoon.
He also singled out Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and criticized the The Diversity Visa Program, under which Sayfullo Saipov came to the U.S. in 2010.
I have just ordered Homeland Security to step up our already Extreme Vetting Program. Being politically correct is fine, but not for this!

The terrorist came into our country through what is called the "Diversity Visa Lottery Program," a Chuck Schumer beauty. I want merit based.

We are fighting hard for Merit Based immigration, no more Democrat Lottery Systems. We must get MUCH tougher (and smarter). @foxandfriends

Schumer, along with New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and Gov. Andrew Cuomo, all responded this morning.
"I guess it's not too soon to politicize a tragedy," Schumer countered on Twitter.

Speaking on CNN this morning, de Blasio said investigators must find out what happened and that no one should "politicize this tragedy."
"The last thing we should do is cast aspersions on whole races of people, or whole religions or whole nations," he said, adding that "generalizing" a whole religion sends the "exact negative message" and helps the enemy.

Gov. Cuomo told MSNBC said Trump is "exacerbating the situation" and potentially fomenting hate.
"We have to be smarter and have more intelligence, but there’s also no doubt that this is not the time to play politics. This is not the time to foment hate. This is not the time to divide," he said.
Meantime, the show's host Joe Scarborough blasted Trump for taking "cheap political shots" on the morning after a terrorist attack.
"Now is not the time. Now is not the place. And this is not what Americans need from their president, not just this president, but any president. We need somebody that can bring us together in these times," he said.
The onetime Republican congressman called out his former party for doing the opposite after the Las Vegas attack by accusing gun control advocates of "politicizing" the mass shooting.
