Former Clinton Adviser: 'Irretrievably Tainted' Trump-Russia Probe Should Be Challenged in Court

Dan Bongino criticized former National Intelligence Director James Clapper for allegedly lying about leaking information about the dossier on President Trump to the media.

Clapper had said in a March 12 CNN interview that he had no contact with anyone from the media until after he left the government.

The House Intelligence Committee, though, found in a heavily redacted report that Clapper provided "inconsistent testimony" about his contacts with the media regarding information leaks.

Clapper, according to the report, discussed the dossier with CNN journalist Jake Tapper in early January of last year.

Bongino said that Clapper and former FBI director James Comey came up with a "genius scheme" to brief President Trump about the dossier and then have Clapper leak information about that briefing to CNN.

"Conveniently, BuzzFeed then puts out the dossier just days later. What a bunch of slime bags," he said.

The report also noted that Clapper, who is now a national security analyst for CNN, "admitted that he might have spoken with other journalists about the same topic."

President Trump on Saturday referred to Clapper as a "lying machine."

The House Intelligence Committee “found no evidence that the Trump campaign colluded, coordinated, or conspired with the Russian government.” The committee did, however, “find poor judgment and ill-considered actions by the Trump and Clinton campaign.”
