White House Deputy Press Secretary Hogan Gidley said Thursday that President Trump will attend the G7 Summit, denying reports that Vice President Mike Pence would go instead so that Trump could prepare for the North Korea summit.
"I saw some of those reports yesterday, we all kind of chuckled and laughed. He is going to the G7. There is no plan to pull out of that," said Gidley on the June 8-9 meetings in Quebec, Canada, between the U.S., France, Germany, Italy, United Kingdom, Canada and Japan.

The summit will come amid heightened tensions between Trump and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau over new U.S. tariffs on steel and aluminum from Europe, Mexico and Canada.
"The idea that we are somehow a national security threat to the United States is quite frankly insulting and unacceptable," Trudeau said on Sunday.
Just a few days after the G7 wraps up, Trump is scheduled to travel to Singapore for historic face-to-face talks with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
Isn’t it Ironic? Getting ready to go to the G-7 in Canada to fight for our country on Trade (we have the worst trade deals ever made), then off to Singapore to meet with North Korea & the Nuclear Problem...But back home we still have the 13 Angry Democrats pushing the Witch Hunt!

On Twitter, Trump called it "ironic" that he is preparing to go to both summits to "fight for our country," yet "13 Angry Democrats" are continuing with the Russia investigation.
