The Five reacted to New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) saying during a speech that "we are not going to Make America Great Again... it was never that great."
Cuomo said "we have not reached greatness [but] will reach greatness when every American is fully engaged."
Dana Perino said Cuomo's statements are the complete opposite of those his late father, Gov. Mario Cuomo (D-N.Y.) said repeatedly as the elder Cuomo gradually became a national figure.
Mario Cuomo said at the 1984 Democratic National Convention that America is "[a] magnificent mosaic." He served as New York's governor from 1983 to 1994.
The NRA sent me their candidate questionnaire to complete. In case they forgot, this year, last year and the year before, I received an F rating from the NRA. So I’ll take my F rating again this year and wear it with pride. https://t.co/RhaNy5WwTP

The panel noted the prominence of the Cuomo family in American politics over the decades, as in addition to Mario and Andrew, the current governor's brother Christopher Cuomo is a primetime host on CNN.
Andrew Cuomo's press secretary, Dani Lever, released a statement in response to the remarks:
"Governor Cuomo disagrees with the President. The Governor believes America is great and that her full greatness will be fully realized when every man, woman, and child has full equality. America has not yet reached its maximum potential.
"When the President speaks about making America great again - going back in time - he ignores the pain so many endured and that we suffered from slavery, discrimination, segregation, sexism and marginalized women's contributions. The Governor believes that when everyone is fully included and everyone is contributing to their maximum potential, that is when America will achieve maximum greatness."
Cuomo's 2018 Republican opponent Marc Molinaro also responded in a separate statement, Bret Baier reported:
"America, with its imperfections, has always been great."
Jesse Watters said Andrew Cuomo "cannot contain" himself because the Democratic "base is so crazy and frothing at the mouth so much" when it comes to partisan politics and opposing President Donald Trump.
Cuomo, despite growing up in Briarwood, Queens, N.Y., also previously dared Trump to "deport" him last year, claiming he is an immigrant.

The panel also discussed Democratic Tennessee Rep. Steve Cohen of Memphis saying he hoped senatorial candidate Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) would "jump off" a bridge.
They also noted that ahead of a concert supporting Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.), the band Pearl Jam published a poster depicting Tester riding a tractor in the sky over a White House engulfed in flames and a bald eagle picking at a skeleton of President Trump.
