House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes said Friday that President Trump is experiencing the same "stonewalling" as GOP lawmakers who have sought documents from the Justice Department.

"Every time we make a request to the DOJ or FBI, we get stonewalled for many days," Nunes (R-Calif.) said on "America's Newsroom."

Nunes said the left is hypocritically "telegraphing" outrage over the orders.

"They're saying crazy things like 'it's going to destroy the intelligence community' [which is] a great example of... the left accusing you of what they already did," he said.

Nunes said the "major leaks" from several disgraced FBI and DOJ officials did more damage than the release of documents through subpoena or executive order.

"This was started as a counter-intelligence investigation into a political campaign," he said.

Trump tweeted Friday morning that key U.S. allies have asked the DOJ not to release the documents and that the inspector general will now review whether the documents can be released.

Trump ordered the declassification of documents related to a FISA warrant against former campaign aide Carter Page and text messages from former FBI officials Peter Strzok and Lisa Page. The president, for months, has blasted Strzok and Page for the bias revealed in their text messages first found by Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz.
