The panel on "The Five" reacted to Democrats like Texas Rep. Beto O'Rourke adopting tactics from a man they claim to despise -- President Trump.
Morgan Ortagus said that O'Rourke, an El Paso lawmaker seeking to unseat Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), is trailing in recent polls.
She said that in order to close the gap with Cruz, O'Rourke invoked Trump's "Lying Ted" nickname for the Republican.
"He's dishonest. That's why the president called him 'Lying Ted' -- That's why it stuck -- because it's true," O'Rourke said during a Tuesday debate.
Cruz brushed off the criticism, quoted President John Adams and said that the facts bear out differently.
Dana Perino said that O'Rourke's race, in which he has raised a large sum, is more of a "down payment" for a future run.
Juan Williams credited O'Rourke with holding off on negative campaigning until late in the season, adding that Cruz is apparently running on nothing other than being a Republican in red Texas.
