A soldier who disguised herself as a school mascot in Alabama gave her son the ultimate surprise last week that brought the boy's fellow students to tears.
Sgt. Desiree Lancey -- who had been deployed to Kuwait over the past year -- dressed as Chaffee Elementary School's eagle mascot, unbeknownst to her son, Kael.
Kael and his fifth-grade classmates convened in the cafeteria for a project with former NASA engineers when Lancey revealed herself after the singing of the National Anthem.

When she took off her costume's head, Kael appeared completely shocked and ran toward his mom for a long-awaited embrace.
"When I walked in and saw his face, I couldn't breathe and I was so excited, just bliss," Lancey told WHNT News.
The outlet reported that Kael was able to leave school early on Friday and spend some much-needed time with his mom over the weekend.
