So basically, after reading this report... Obama is taking this trip for the first time EVER...and THIS is supposed to show that he is capable of being President???

Wow... let me take a trip to half a dozen countries (already been to Mexico) and then I can say I'm qualified to run NATO *and* United Nations!!!!

What a douche-bag. God help us if this Tax-everything-to-death fool gets elected.

First time to Afghanistan; second to Iraq. People have been complaining all over the place that he hasn't spent enough time in this country; he travels and more complaints!

Are McCain's trips "supposed to show he is capable of being President?" Good luck on that.
Bush just took his 'farewell' tour - did that affirm he is 'capable of being President? Too late for that.

The same people who are saying Obama has a lack of experience voted for George Bush! Do you really want to talk about a lack of experience? George didn't spend, and was the first president ever, the first day in federal government before becoming president. He has about 12 times the federal experience Bush had and you voted for George!

Dave, I would think you might want to wait and hear what he has to say after the trip before you write it off. Tell me how you interpret the Iraq Prime Minister saying that he wants American troops out of Iraq as soon as possible and that the 16 month time table was realistic yesterday but McCain saying today he was misunderstood and meant conditionally? Do you find that odd?

I will say McCains trips have worked miracles however, he just happened to be in Columbia at the same time some hostages were rescued. He was also there at the same time $20,000,000 was paid to these people that led the rescue.

I can't keep from believing that these things were not simply great timing.

McCain goes to Iraq and doesn't know the difference between a Shiite and a Sunni. When confronted with his voting record in the Senate the majority of the time he can't even remember how he voted on something, or doesn't want to. McCain looks about as presidential as a deer in the headlights.

Fisheye,
At least he was there to vote. Obama, let's see: one and a half years, 3 day weeks (per his website), long vacations, free car and fuel, good salaey, excellent health insurance for his family and so much more for his part time job.
This ME trip will be the longest straight strech he gave for his job. That's only because he wanted the taxpayers to pay for his trip.
Nah, ne doesn't have more federal time than bush did.
At least Mr McCain knows how many states there are in the country they both want to represent.
They both are taking money and not doing the job they were elected to do now.
I'm not a McCain fan, But can see obama without rose colored glasses. He's a phony !

Yep! That's right! Read and weep you Evangelical sheep!

Let's see? Obama says we should "talk" with Iran, so the Retardicants and Kool-aid drinkers are all up in arms, but they're doing what now? Yep, that's right. They're doing what Obama suggested, and talking with Iran.

And then Obama says we should get out of Iraq in 16-months, and it appears that Bush is now taking Obama's lead, and he too now comes out and says we should set markers for leaving Iraq. Meanwhile, the Iraq PM comes out yesterday and actually mentions Obama by name, and agrees with Obama!

Obama has exhibited more world diplomacy in one stop than Bush could ever hope to.

Finally, thank GOD! this is America, where we are free to choose to believe in the Bible - or not!

Yea, a big state is right, and that means you acknowledge that George had zero federal experience. State isn't federal! Obama has been a senator in federal government. This means he has federal experience.

The size of the state doesn't matter because state level government is state level government. He might have to appoint a few more people to do a job is all, but once again is not federal.

Think about it Roxanne.

How many terrorist attacks have been carried out on US soil since 9/11?

There is a reason the terrorist organizations want BHO elected president.

You can live in the phony world depicted by BHO and his pro-socialist campaign team: welfare recipients, government workers, CNN, CBS, ABC, MSNBC, NY Times, etc., or in the real world.

It's your choice.

Well, unlike you, i DO remember that the 9/11 Commission proved that Bush was the one who continued to play golf and jog when weeks before 9/11 occurred, his daily intelligence briefing told him that al qaeda was very near and determined to fly commercial jets into landmark buildings.

Now, where was the directives sent out from Bush to alert the FBI and CIA and beef up airport security after he received that imminent threat???
You know, the Executive Directives that would have made the FBI took the lady agent fervent warnings seriously when she told them that Saudi men were training at flight schools to fly planes into buildings BEFORE 9/11 happened???

I also recall that Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, and that the evidence indicating Saddam had nuclear materiel, program was either very weak or manufactured in Bush and Cheney's imaginations so as to get their hands on Iraq's oil.

I also recall that No Al Qaeda even Existed in Iraq, before Cheney, Bush and Halliburton's great idea to storm in there, over the advice of Bush's National Security Advisor Colin Powell.

So no, i dont live in the phony world of Faux News Channel and the lies of Rove, Libby, Bush, Cheney and Halliburton, like you do, ok hon.
Every one of the trillion of tax payer dollars, that was spent invading Iraq, was wasted! And has only Created alot more terrorists in the Middle East, for us to worry about and guard against.
And i think that more Americans and citizens of the World, agree with me, than agree with you and the Faux News Channel, ok hon.

How can a man who has not been elected President of the United States promise continued support to Afghanistan to Karzi? He has no authority to make such an offer and is very presumptious in doing so. What is more, he has been an absentee Senator whose only real piece of legislation was to tax us to death to support aid for, not US citizens in need, but Africa--where he has his dual citizenship in Kenya.

YO Tennessee......Being a State& US Senator is absolutely NOTHING like being a Governor. All you are is a voice and vote (when you show up, has WORKED as a Senator only 143 days), being a Governor..well you actually have to deal with ALL the issues related to running the state, and you have to be there everyday..ANY HOW..Obama lies through his teeth, when's the last time someone worked part-time jobs to pay for HARVARD LAW SCHOOL...again, what he says doesn't add up!

crazypartsman, are you saying that having been governor, that GW Bush is much more Capable and Qualified to be Prez than mere senators such as Obama and McCain??? And that Bush is more qualified than mere military men such as Dwight Eisenhower or Colin Powell?

= ROFLMAO

And Obama isn't a decade past the retirement age like McCain, and well into Alzheimers and Senile territory along with the chronic loss of Brain cells that age brings. ("cant teach an old dog new tricks" = too few brain cells left = McCain admits he cant learn how to Google ) = get the picture?

So i think i will stick with the Democratic choice for Prez.

No Roxanne...Being a Govermor is basically the same as a CEO of a state...Senator is again just a 1 voice and 1 vote, not the same as being the man.
besides GW was the last guy the media got elected (twice) for some reason, still can't figure that out

look at it this way, say the teller at you bank that was hired, say 143 days ago all of a sudden it voted CEO by the shareholders, would you feel he's qualified?

ok, i get your point.
HOWEVER, if being a Governor is such a weighty important job, then what pray tell, did GWBush do to qualify himself before becoming Governor???

I seem to recall, that all he did before, was graduate at the bottom of his college class, drink and party CONSTANTLY, sobering up Only after he married Laura, and tried his hands at a business venture or 2 that promptly Tanked!

Kinda explains the economic, military and foreign policy MESS we are now in after 8 years, huh?

So how did Bush's Experience as Governor of Texas help him and now us, again, hon??? :)

In that case, McCain and Obama are going about this running for Prez thing all wrong.

They should go to Hollywood and become successful Actors first like Reagan and Scwarzeneggar.

I'm positive that Arnold's ratings as governor is much higher back in Cali than Bush's ratings as Prez. :)

So going by all your reasoning, the BEST route to the presidency is Actor/Actress or like GW = failed businessman/womanizer/alcoholic - then Governor - then Prez.
... but i still cant see how being Guvnor helped GWBush one bit. Maybe that's because GW is as Senile as the Dinosaur McCain is.

The part I like about this article was where it stated: On the second day of an international tour designed to burnish his foreign policy credentials....

A little bit of foreign travel, a little bit of positive PR, and whamo! Foreign policy expert.

I'm not saying McCain is the master of foreign policy (in fact he's more like a foreign policy disaster than a foreign policy expert), but I hope to all goodness that people realize this trip to Afghanistan for what it is: a special photo-op.

Lets check the logic here. Because Obama has never been to Afghanistan, he's not fit to be president. So whoever hasn't been to Afghanistan cannot be president of the United States. Bush barely knew the geography of the world, let alone its leaders, in 2000, but had been on golfing trips to Scotland. So, whats the conclusion we should draw here?

He will find the courage to fight for what is morally right, in setting the course to reaffirm our greatness as a God-honoring nation and people.

I'll give you the candor and humor argument. He's got McCain beat on that point for sure.

As for directness... Direct how? I can't think of a good example.

As for comfortable with responsibility and knowing how to lead our nation... He's a very young, junior senator who, in my opinion, did and said just the right things and was lucky enough to succeed. He has displayed very few leadership skills besides being able to gather people around himself with fancy rhetoric.

That's just the way I see it.

Never in my 21 years was I forced to attend a gathering by a Senator on a fact finding tour. It seems to me if these troops were forced to attend an Obama event that would show that the military supported Obama.

Yeah, smokin' cigars and playin' parchese for five years (less a week), just, y'know, wondering why they're still there. Twiddling their thumbs and pondering the conspicuous absence of "enemies".

agreeable ten....we should make them pay for it if they want us to stay any longer. since we are training their new army and police force they should pay for that as well, since they want us to do that.

Them? Iraqis? They've been "paying for it" from day one of American occupation. Where, exactly, is that money going to come from? Iraq has collapsed, and we collapsed it. It is absurd, at best, to contend that the country we invaded should pony up because we actually did them a favour. How @!$%#ing offensive.

"In My Opinion"

$10 million from Hillary's failed presidential campaign? Her failed presidential campaign was due to Barack Hussein Obama getting votes he didn't earn in Florida and Michigan. and due to all the SCUMBAGS at the Corrupt Democratic National Committee. and all the idiots siding with who those morons that think Barack Hussein Obama is the next messiah.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Barack Hussein Obama, wants to sit down an reason with the our enemies through diplomatic negotiation of diplomacy tactics after he pulls all the troops out???.... Oh I see on the job training is the way you "GULLIBLE AMERICANS" want Obama to learn. BOOM! "OMG Call my advisors" BOOM>BOOM>BOOM!
"Maybe he doesn't consider terrorists the enemy."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Obama was a Muslim. Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) attended an Islamic "madrassa" school as a 6-year-old child.. He was sworn into office on the Koran. He doesn't say the Pledge of Allegiance. His pastor is an anti-Semite. He's a tool of Louis Farrakhan. He's anti-Israel. His advisers are anti-Israel. He's friends with terrorists. The terrorists want him to win. He's the Antiwar on terror because he wants to sit with the terrorist countries and negotiate with them on peaceful terms, when all their concerned with is annihilating the U.S. of A. off the face of the Earth

Barack Hussein Obama say's, "I WILL MAKE CHANGE AND WE WILL DO IT TOGETHER AMERICA" any F**K'in MORON THAT PREACHES THESE EMPTY WORDS WITHOUT TELLING YOU HOW HE'S GOING TO DO THIS IS A B.S.er, LIKE A HEAL ALL ELIXIR SALESMAN BACK IN THE DAY any F**K'in MORON THAT VOTES FOR A GUY LIKE THIS, MOST LIKELY VOTED FOR BUSHWHACKER ! and look what you ended up with after listening to Bush's B.S. GREAT JOB GULLIBLE AMERICANS ! Hey Fools, There's a war in Kenya going on forever, and the first thing Oboma will do is send troops over there to stick our nose in somebody else's business again to try to solve somebody else's problems because his father has ties there. He's like a preschooler in politics "Knows Nothing" about running a country, and "Knows Nothing" about the other worlds leaders, he's never met with them, he only knows just about what you know "NOTHING" So why don't you run for President? The Hillary / Bill team already ran the country, well think about how much better the country was economically. Oboma has 1 year in the senate of total politics, and for the Kennedy's to endorse him is no big deal, Royalty? Come on a drunken mistress killing (ok he let her drown) thinks he runs the world, "Lame Ted"? endorses him, is a national joke. All the good Kennedy's are deceased and we're left with the wannabe's. The media reports all the facts? "There a Joke Too". Oboma started the badmouthing about Hillary, so Bill and Hillary retaliated, to defend them selves, same thing as if you hit me. I'll hit you harder. bigger, better, otherwise don't start and the cry about it for the sympathy from the mental midgets to come to your aid. and it's not about race? "B.S". Oprah is putting allot of her egg$ in one basket. You voted for Bush too didn't you? "Your Votes Are Our Future" Hey Country you did a great job with voting Bush in and then voting him in again? Go ahead and use your some more common sense and play with your new Obama toy, that may be hazardous to our future. Take the chance if you have nothing to lose, Haven't you lost enough?

There is definitely a racial divide, and if Barack Hussein Obama gets in, there "WILL" be a civil disobedience and arrogance toward whites. No pun intended, but the blacks will have a field day, and it's a shame that allot of blacks are voting for Barack Hussein Obama just because he's black rather than voting for the person. If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position. Colon Powell for the presidency would be awesome, but NOT Barack Hussein Obama. It has to do with the person and his or her credibility, wisdom along with Knowledge. Operah worries more about the children in Africa rather then the children in America. And worries more about blacks then the whites that made her the green in America. Oprah did her Obama dance. What happened to Equality? There is a real reverse prejudice at this time in history. Most the blacks that are voting for Barack Hussein Obama just because he's black are truly prejudice whites and are holding a real grudge from the past against the whites. Yeah they had it bad, but did they forget the Jews were cooked to death by the millions? and the Italians, Irish, Polish, Spanish also had it real bad too etc. Pity Pity "Woe is me" F**K that and get over it! And as far as Jesse Jackson is concerned he said what was on his mind and said how he truly felt and was honest with his feelings. GOOD! More people should speak their thoughts out loud and be truthful rather than being deceitful with other people, and I think he might have known the Mic was on to get his point across. To me he made no direct real apology and he shouldn't have to. He told it how he sees it with his honest feelings in which everyone should.

McCain will win the presidency if Obama is the presidential candidate against him. Count on it. I for one will be voting for McCain given that situation along with many other "Sensible Americans". Here at this link: http://hcsfjm.com/ - are Hillary Clinton Supporters for John McCain. Hillary Clinton is the only one who has a shot against McCain. The Hillary / Bill team already ran the country, well think about how much better the country was economically and how well we got along with the other countries. Obama has had about a year or more in the senate and attended about a hundred congressional meetings voting present rather than voting for or against any of the issues being voted on. I want somebody whose been in the White House and has experienced credibility in doing so. You can have the greatest advisors and people around you, but one thing is for sure, any presidential candidate can Talk the Talk, but only the experienced can Walk the Walk. I personally don't want a preschooler in politics for the presidency. Maybe after some good credible years in the senate Obama can learn to walk and run with the best of them. Democrat comes from the word Democracy in which I am a part of just like you, and I speak with my freedom of speech just like you do but with my own opinion, and I have all nationalities in my family and which some of them are of color. I have no hate toward anyone. Colon Powell for the presidency would be awesome, but NOT Obama. It has to do with the person and his or her credibility, wisdom along with Knowledge. Obama is all of a sudden denouncing Jeremiah Wright. After several years of dominating his church for like, 20 years worth now, he's running for president and all of a sudden denouncing Jeremiah Wright and resigning from his church? In the twenty years Obama been listening to Jeremiah Wright, he NEVER objected to his speeches before. Why Now? Hey wake up "GULLIBLE AMERICANS" 2+2=4! The anger and hate in Jeremiah Wright's sermons are reminiscent of Farrakhan's. They don't wear a smiling mask. Obama does. Be proud of what you are Obama if you have nothing to hide. "Take off your mask" Muslim, Kenya, Islam people like Farrakhan and his own pastor Jeremiah Wright praising Farrakhan. NICE ! Also why doesn't Obama put his hand on his heart during the national anthem? Have a look at the photo from the October 1, 2007 edition of "Time." It shows Obama, Hillary and Bill Richardson at the Steak Fry of Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) on September 17 in Indianola, IA during the National Anthem. Richardson and Clinton have their hands on their heart. But not Obama. (http://theobamafile.com/_images/ObamaCrotchSaluteLarge.jpg) You'll have to copy and paste this link to see it, this site will not let you see the truth! also for the first time ever his wife feels patriotic? She said, "For the first time in my adult lifetime, I'm really proud of my country" NICE ! Hey wake up "GULLIBLE AMERICANS"! I Also believe Chauvinistic ideals are behind the "Secret Anti Hillary Campaign". If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position, and if it's a woman (of any color) Chauvinistic closed minded males wouldn't let her be in this position either. BUT WE'RE TALKING "HILLARY CLINTON FOR PRESIDENT" the most loved and respected wife of The Greatest modern day President of all time, "BILL CLINTON", and also the most loved husband and wife team in the history of politics. Read the Blogs see what the people really think. And as for Florida and Michigan, I and most sensible Americans believe the Democratic National Committee decision was WRONG for Florida and Michigan, Obama and Clinton's name was on the ballot but Obama chose to take his name off the ballot in Michigan, and that was his decision and his problem. There are 50 states in America and all should be allowed to vote and "ALL" votes be counted. People Know Corruption when they see it. LOL Yeah, instead of crashing planes into buildings, Osama Bin Laden sat around in his circle of advisers and said "Hey, guys, let's take down the US by screwing up their economy."

I don't know about Osama Bin Laden's educational credentials, but I doubt very seriously that he's been schooled in the theory of economics.

And, FYI, the economy is poor and the sitting president is a Republican with no relation to Osama Bin Laden whatsoever. Your statement does not compute.

Just so i wouldn't be tarred with the same all noise/ no signal brush.

One trip or one hundred trips to foreign countries will not prepare one for any leadership role, particularly the presidency of the United States. Neither does being a POW for five years prepare one for being commander in chief. I doubt you can learn how to win a war crashing five war planes. Particularly a war where we were run out of the country in a losing war.

I can also see how one would have the temerity to label Obama stupid, a man that graduated first from one of the most prestigious universities in the world.. I can see how one could call such achievements the actions of a stupid man. I think rather the idiot who made such an insipid statement is burdened with the weight of unprecedented stupidity.

Only in America can a person that has achieved as much as Obama be considered a failure.
Only in America can a man be judged not by the content of his character or what he has accomplished, but by his name and the color of his skin.
Only in America can a man publish inane remarks in the name of freedom of speech.
Only in America can a man hide behind the mask of bigotry and racism in the name of Democracy.

There are different kinds of "stupid" . We all know plenty of people who are book smart but have no idea how the world works.

And don't bring race into this . it has nothing to do with the color of his skin but rather the content of his heart which is in question. He is very shallow and easy to see through.

First, I do not believe we have the best two choices out of 300 Million. IMHO, Condi Rice would be better than both of them.
We don't know how many of the accomplishments claimed for obama were earned and how many given or supplemented.
We do know that he lives in a million and a half dollar house, has at least a million dollars in a tax free account.
We know that his angry wife was given a doubling of pay when he was elected to Illinois govt. We also know her employer then got grant of, I think, a million dollars.
and he's only beginning. Guard your wallet.

Same thing to me. McCain's solution to paying off the debt is not to pay it. Lets cut taxes and that will pay it? Sorry, but we pay over 400 billion in interest alone for our debt. To me, McCain is a patriot, but he isn't doing anything with a tax cut besides getting votes. It doesn't help the American public and doesn't strengthen the dollar. Then he talks about a flat tax! That is really called a regressive tax because it's worthless nature for paying anything off. Anyway, I vote for the Democrats' economics. I know, someone will mention give away (welfare), but it's fine when that is my only problem. I don't like giving it away to Iraq! Help your fellow Americans first instead of Iraq before you start complaining about it!

Actually you are incorrect. If you study macro economics and the history of the US on such matters you will learn that when we have tax cuts we actually bring more into the coffers of the US government through taxes. Though this seems paradoxical, it is especially true of capital gains taxes.

How do you think that works? Well, when we keep money in the hands of those who would otherwise pay large capital gains taxes, they invest it in new businesses which employ people (who pay income taxes) and the companies make a profit (which profit is taxed) and in the end when profit is distributed to the owners of say an LLC they also pay taxes.

Barak Obama was confronted with this fact in one of the debates. The (liberal) moderator asked him why he is in favor of raising (almost doubling) capital gains taxes when lowering these taxes actually brings in more tax revenues. He hmm'd and haw'd in his usual off teleprompter fashion then stumbling forward said, "fairness." Seems he kind of weakly stated that he basically didn't think it was fair for some to have more money than others so we should take it away even though those very people, if allowed to keep their money would prosper many others through jobs created.

This man, Barak Obama, does not understand economics and should not be allowed near the White House in this time of economic crisis.

Are you taking your macro online? University of Phoenix? There isn't any way possible you can take in less money and have more. I am sorry, but you don't have to take macro to be able to add. Trickle down effect? That is such a joke, and the regressive tax structure is noted in every tax book made to man. People who want to succeed in life create jobs, and not because you are given a tax free cash cow. Work like normal Americans, pay your tax, and don't expect to be given anything special because you have money. You have to pay tax to be an American, sorry. You sound like a Reagan fundamentalist. I think it's hilarious that Obama has finally admitted he's not experience. What I want to know is why is he there on our tab(tax dollars) and using this trip for his presidential amibitions. If he wants to go international to "gain experience", fine. Just do it with his own money, not mine.

One trip is not going to give his the experience he needs. The "see one, do one, teach one" principle does not make one an experience, especially to President.

Experience, you say? Why if the man has no 'experience' are both bush and mccain moving toward Obama's positions on Iraq and Afghanistan?

What is his 'record of nonsupport?" He has voted for every war-funding bill, because of the troops, that has come up for a vote in congress. He feels the war in Iraq is a drain on our resources and economy to say nothing of what it is doing to the military as a whole. Before the pentagon, bush or mccain said one word, Obama was advocating that more attention be paid to Afghanistan because it is the real war on terror and due to the increasing insurgence there. Generals on the ground have asked for more troops and evidently Obama was listening to them.

When mccain manages to get us into Iran (with or without Israel), too, and the middle east really becomes a cauldron, then you and your friends/family can wonder who is truly the most 'dangerous' man.

McCain and Bush aren't moving toward Obama's positions. The situation in Iraq if moving toward the intended conclusion of the Bush policy which is political stability that allows us to continue (we are already doing this) to draw down on our troops since the surge was such a great success and we now have tribal leaders on our side kicking out foreign insurgents and al queda from their tribal areas.

This week was especially a land mark on the path this administration set for winding down the war. That is the Sunni support of the central government and pledge of support and participation. This is the BIG landmark that the surge was pointing toward and it is happening right before our eyes.

TO: True Democrat:

First of all true democrats, please remember that one of the unique quality of living in a democracy is the right to express oneself according to one's beliefs system and not dictated by another. NOW, lets examine your claim that Obama did not put his hands over his heart during the Stars Spangle Banner, it is not required or customary for one to put their hands over their heart during this song---it is required or customary to put one's hands over their heart during the Pledge of Allegiance recital to this country. Of which there are photos that illustrates Obama hand is over his heart during the Pledge of Allegiance which is quite appropriate although still not mandatory in a country that prides itself on freedom of expression.

We as Americans and TRUE DEMOCRATS, must grow up in our thinking. President Bush wores a flag pin and probably places his hand over his heart when he hears any tune that remotely reminds him that he is in America, however this same man and all his OUTWARD expressions VIOLATED THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES AND MANIPULATED THIS COUNTRY INTO AN UNJUST WAR FOR POLITICAL REASONS AKA OIL. Blood for oil. THIS SAME PRESIDENT HAS GIVEN PEOPLE IN HIS ADMINISTRATION (KARL ROVE AND OTHERS) A FREE PASS TO SNUB AT CONGRESS AND CHALLENGE THE FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES OF DEMOCRACY THAT DICTATED THROUGH THE CONSTITUTION (OUR BEDROCK AND BLUEPRINT TO KEEP US A FREE NATION) THAT THERE IS TO BE A BALANCE IN POWER BY THE JUDICIAL, EXECUTIVE AND CONGRESSIONAL BRANCHES SO THAT NO ONE OF THE MAJOR THREE ENTITIES WOULD EXUDES MORE POWER THAN THE OTHER. HE CONTINUES TO VIOLATE THIS FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLE THAT IS DOING MORE HARM TO THIS COUNTRY THAN MOST AMERICANS REALIZED.

I say this to remind us that we must stop using superficial outward nonsense to measure a man credentials that is running for the highest office in the land for the current administration demonstrated that he was and still is slowly turning this country into a ground for dictatorship for he has lived and functioned as if this administration was above the law. Grow up in your thinking for patriotism can not be detected by how someone places their hands over their chest, but can only be measured by how someone endorse and embrace the very principles of democracy IN SIDE OF THEIR HEART WHICH ULTIMATELY DICTATES THEIR ACTIONS. THIS IS TRUTH AND I HOPE THOSE MATURE ENOUGH WILL BEGIN TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS FACT FOR THE SAKE OF THIS COUNTRY.

We must rise to cease thinking in elementary terms and begin thinking like men and women of sound judgment and of a sound mind.

Putting your hand on your heart during national anthem does not make you a true patriot. Your actions for the good of your country makes you a patriot. By the way, the biggest spies for Soviet Union were born Americans who were supposed to be great patriots, however they turned out to be the great traitors.
Toady's politicians do not seem to be very patriotic by selling our country to the highest bidder and no amount of patriotic gestures will hide the fact that actually they are traitors.
The definition of a traitor is someone who does great harm to own nation in war or to nation's economics in peace.

You put your hand over your heart when saying the Pledge of Allegiance and sing, if you are able, the National Anthem. First of all lets address the "hand over your heart" matter. The National Anthem has been played at every baseball, football, us sports events. Tons of events. I would be hard-pressed to find even as little as dozens of people with their hands on their hearts. Caps in hand--yes. Tears in the eyes, yes. Singing along, yes. My husband and I are TRUE PATRIOTIC AMERICANS and we place our hand over our hearts at the Pledge of Allegiance, but have never done so for the National Anthem--never did. Never for one moment have I questioned my own or anyone else's love for this county.

Shawn [a.k.a. "Shadow"]

Actually, "Republic" is the proper description of our government, not "democracy." (from below noted source)

A republic and a democracy are identical in every aspect except one. In a republic the sovereignty is in each individual person. In a democracy the sovereignty is in the group.

The distinction between our Republic and a democracy is not an idle one. It has great legal significance.
The Constitution guarantees to every state a Republican form of government (Art. 4, Sec. 4). No state may join the United States unless it is a Republic. Our Republic is one dedicated to "liberty and justice for all." Minority individual rights are the priority. The people have natural rights instead of civil rights. The people are protected by the Bill of Rights from the majority. One vote in a jury can stop all of the majority from depriving any one of the people of his rights; this would not be so if the United States were a democracy. (see People's rights vs Citizens' rights)

In a pure democracy 51 beats 49[%]. In a democracy there is no such thing as a significant minority: there are no minority rights except civil rights (privileges) granted by a condescending majority. Only five of the U.S. Constitution's first ten amendments apply to Citizens of the United States. Simply stated, a democracy is a dictatorship of the majority. Socrates was executed by a democracy: though he harmed no one, the majority found him intolerable.

Notice that in a Democracy, the sovereignty is in the whole body of the free citizens. The sovereignty is not divided to smaller units such as individual citizens. To solve a problem, only the whole body politic is authorized to act. Also, being citizens, individuals have duties and obligations to the government. The government's only obligations to the citizens are those legislatively pre-defined for it by the whole body politic.

In a Republic, the sovereignty resides in the people themselves, whether one or many. In a Republic, one may act on his own or through his representatives as he chooses to solve a problem. Further, the people have no obligation to the government; instead, the government being hired by the people, is obliged to its owner, the people.

The people own the government agencies. The government agencies own the citizens. In the United States we have a three-tiered cast system consisting of people ---> government agencies ---> and citizens.

The people did "ordain and establish this Constitution," not for themselves, but "for the United States of America." In delegating powers to the government agencies the people gave up none of their own. (See Preamble of U.S. Constitution). This adoption of this concept is why the U.S. has been called the "Great Experiment in self government." The People govern themselves, while their agents (government agencies) perform tasks listed in the Preamble for the benefit of the People. The experiment is to answer the question, "Can self-governing people coexist and prevail over government agencies that have no authority over the People?"

Actually, the United States is a mixture of the two systems of government (Republican under Common Law, and democratic under statutory law). The People enjoy their God-given natural rights in the Republic. In a democracy, the Citizens enjoy only government granted privileges (also known as civil rights).

Bush can be trusted? He wanted to call Kerry out because Bush stated he wouldn't support our troops. Bush failed to mention the troops support bill had a 10 billion dollar no bid contract to Halliburton. This company is not suppose to receive a no bid contract because they are under investigation for fraud. They already found an added 10 million dollar fuel bill that never existed (intermediate accounting, volume 12). What about our weapons of mass destruction? How about congress not getting the information because Bush used an executive order? Someone needs to tell that moron that it only covers people, and not a cover-up. Anyway, Obama can't be trusted, but you voted for Bush. I'll take my chances, because he couldn't be near as bad as Bush.

It is ironic that there are those that seek to malign Obama no matter what. First, the Republican party nominee, John McCain berates Obama for not going overseas by counting all the days since his previous visit to Iraq and criticizes him for this "error." McCain wanted Obama to travel with him to Iraq and Obama declined. However, when Obama decides to finally go to not only Iraq but other countries in the Middle East, now the same man that was challenging Obama to go now decides to criticize him for going and accusing him simply of being interested in traveling to the Middle East as a photo opt?

McCain and his supporters and all the "Obama Haters" are upset because they can not dictate this "LEADER" itinerary and he has demonstrated how he manages to turn the table on them time and time again. The media is not so much bias as he is charismatic. That is something the news media can not manufacture, either you got it or you don't. If McCain would only be more inspiring and generate excitement in the political system, HE TOO, would be covered with the same fervor as Obama. It's life. It is like that popular person in school, on the workforce, etc. that seems to draw a crowd no matter what and let's face it, the media is a money making business and they are trying to generate interest in the election and they are going to be drawn to the one that can deliver the goods. It is called marketing and what they are selling is NEWS. McCain has too much in common with President Bush and his "vision" for this country. Too bad for all you republicans that McCain turned in his Maverick credentials for "that" McCain probably would have been more interesting to cover however, upon deeper and further scrutiny it will appears that "this" McCain is more authentic than the "Maverick" we thought he was for he has voted with Bush (even under the guise as a Maverick) 95% of the time. So, at least he is showing his true character now.

OK, I understand your frustration with the fact that Obama seems stronger than ever, and is beloved by the troops but is it purely a "right wing" position to support the troops? What about BEING a troop? Is that purely a republican endeavor? What about Bush's service, or Cheney's, or Rush's, or Rove's. What do you call their military background? Right? Left? OH, and the troops were "forced" to be there. I see. So it was really painful for them to attend a function indoors, away from the heat and the danger, and by the way, how did they assemble so many excellent actors to pretend they were cheering, pretend they were thrilled to meet an inspiring man, no matter what the political affiliation?

Once again, he has been to Iraq. This was his first trip to Afghanistan. No matter when he went, you would be complaining about it. Voting for all the war-funding bills has the appearance 'that he cares' about the troops. I read, maybe here on Newsvine, that he is getting more donations from the troops than mccain. Prove that 'the VAST majority of the military do not support him.' You cannot know how the 'VAST majority' feels about anything.

Why would the troops support anyone, like mccain, who has voted against a GI Bill or other things that support the troops. Check his record.

Who says he is beloved by the troops. These are young kids and he is a celebrity. They will flock around any celebrity and want their picture on TV or You Tube.

I have spoken with many many returning soldiers from Iraq and I have yet to find one who will vote for Obama. They are proud of what they have accomplished in Iraq--rebuilding schools and building girls schools for the first time ever, hospitals, and gas stations to keep Iraqi's from their previous 24 hour wait in line for gas at pumps Saddam had let fall into ruin.

These guys think the surge was the best thing yet and allowed them to win! Now we are seeing how successful the whole operation has been with the Sunni coming out of the woodwork to complete the establishment of the government. All is as this administration has said it would be if we would be patient.

Boy has Obama changed his tune from when he said the surge wouldn't work. He now congratulates the troops for making it work and says "as I said" this surge would work. This is the day of video cameras Obama. We have your words and it isn't pretty.

To see a side by side of Obama's Iraq claims when he was trying to get the nomination and appealing to his leftist base and now that he has to appeal to a broader spectrum check out johnmccain.com. There is an amazing and illustrative video. A debate of sorts between Obama (then) and Obama (now). What a crass liar and how totally unprepared to work in international relations or be the commander in chief.

Most of you probably saw the poll recently that 73% of America feel John McCain is more qualified to be commander in chief than Obama. Now they are in a virtual tie, I imagine that statistic prodded Obama to go to the middle east.

By the way, where does he get off offering Maliki continued support from the US. He has NO authority to make such a promise. He will have us in Afghanistan for 100 years.

You can bet that 9 out of 10 black troops are supporting him and probably 6 out of 10 women in the military. The military draws white males disproportionately but the minorities that are there maintain their voting patterns: your argument that the vast number of troops do not support Democrats is without merit. A 60/40 split is hardly vast group.

True Democrat: I feel you. Everyone is wrong except you. Hillary squandered a 30 point lead, and crybaby losers like you can't deal with it. Instead of giving Obama credit for running a superb campaign, you cry foul because your candidate lost. The DNC did not choose Obama, the people chose him. Hopefully he will win in Nov. Maybe he won't, that will be up to the people, unless the Supreme Court decides to choose the next president, again. You seem to forget that the rules were made by the DNC before any political race was initiated. I guess rules only matter when your candidate wins. Hillary decided she would try to change the rules when she saw she was a loser. The smart money backed Clinton, she should have won. The smarter money chose Obama, and you now cry Foul. Like all losers, you can't win, don't know how to win, and when you lose as always, it's the world fault, not yours. Face it if you look like a loser, act like a loser, and think like a loser, by definition you are in fact A LOSER. Similarly if you act, think, and look like a winner, you have Obama. Eat your heart out, loser. Also try writing your diatribes using some semblance of the English language

Imjinscout: There are different kinds of "stupid" . We all know plenty of people who are book smart but have no idea how the world works.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Such an idiotic statement it says nothing, Obama is the presumptive Democrat nominee and you say he has no idea how the world works. That is such a foolish statement it deserves no comment.

And don't bring race into this . it has nothing to do with the color of his skin but rather the content of his heart which is in question. He is very shallow and easy to see through.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Race has never been out of it. The mere fact that we make reference to his race on almost a daily basis pre-supposes the importance placed upon his race. If Race does not matter then why is it mentioned?? No one talked about race when Bush and Gore were seeking the White House, tell me why is it mentioned each and every day by all save Obama?

Evidently you think you are in possession of an insight that none of the rest of us have.
"He is shallow and easy to see through." If he is so shallow, then why do over 50% of the population see him as presidential material? Race is always a factor whenever a non white man or woman competes with a white man or woman in this country on any level, for any position. Race is always a factor, particularly when the white man says, it's not about race. It is always about race. Almost every negative comment uttered against Obama begins with feelings doubts or beliefs. Very seldom is there a negative comment resulting from any concrete evidence, always I don't believe, I don't think, or his name, the lie about his religion, his patriotism, his wife, mis-statements like 57 states, out right lies about him and his family, and you foolishly say it's not about race, BS. If not race then what is it about? Your opinion good or bad is of course valid, as long as you state it as your opinion. I have a problem with people like you who state their opinion as if it were a fact. You have no insight or evidence of what is in his heart, but you make the statement as if it were an irrefutable fact. That of course is your prerogative, however I cannot allow such foolishness to go unchallenged.

As far as Rev Wright is concerned, one he wasn't wrong in what he said, more importantly, why is it a 20 second statement uttered during a sermon is used to define the man, when he preached form that pulpit for over 20 years. If he was so anti American how come there is not more evidence of his alleged dislike for America? Why is his record of service to his country of six years in the military not referred to as often as his twenty second statement. Why is it, that his entire sermon on that day is not given the same publicity as his 20 second statement? And you say it is not about Race the only reason you don't have McCain and others talk about the @!$%# is because it is now considered politically incorrect to use the n-word. But you can bet you last money, that word exists in the mind of too many white folks in this country. The word means nothing, the meanings and the motives behind the negative philosophy is where the harm always lurks under one guise or another.

My Grandfather was a Minister and accomplished many good things as well as help many people along the way. As he grew older he became more stressed and altered his original goals. He became less tolerant of differences and of people in general. To the family who loved this man we were much more forgiving than those who only saw only the last part of his life.
