Maddad's Military Academy: Admission Day

No one said it would be like rolling in freakin' rose pedals.....and it just keeps stretching what I thought were my limits.

Parenting, what a deal. After 2 behavior referrals for acting out on the bus earlier this week, my oldest boy received the 3rd this morning. He is suspended from the bus for the next 3 school days. I was informed this afternoon. Alternative transportation is not an option. So my academy is opened starting first thing in the morning. He was restricted to his room from the time he came home till bed, except for supper and the restroom.

The school is sending the next 3 days of school work home with my other boy tomorrow. So till he gets home, I get to use "creative discipline".

I will post reports throughout the next 3 school days. This should be an interesting ride.

Take it easy on him, old man, we've all been thrown out of places.

Frequently. :-)

A good dose of "tough love" may be just what he needs. I'll bet he'll be looking forward to going back to school by the time his 3 days are up.

Ha ha ha ha.....oh my....you are going to have a fun few days! Maybe since he has so much "energy" he can...clean the garage, scrub the driveway with Dawn dish detergent, scrub the trash cans, pull weeds, wash windows, clean out the flower beds and beneath the shrubs, clear out the rain gutters - tell me if you need any ideas...heh heh heh ;)

Got more ideas - pull out every piece of furniture in his room, get the broom in there sweep all the baseboards, then vacuum, pull down all the games and boxes from the shelf in the closets, wipe down and put them back, take all the laces off all the shoes scrub all the tennis shoes put in the sun to dry, flip the mattresses, clean out the cabinet under the kitchen sink.....heh heh heh....hug him strong and hard - kiss his forehead tell him you love him no matter what - but GET IT DONE!!

In the same line as April....This same thing happened to my son, I "Dr Phil'd" his room. I took out everything, game system, TV, all that he considered creature comforts, he was left with just a mattress on the floor. In the proceeding weeks he had to do chores to earn everything back. Needless to say, it never happened again!

On my son's 3rd offense, I did the same as NJ Gal. Plus our house was the hangout for all the little friends. So My kid had to stay home, and no friends were allowed here for the rest of the school year.

And I love what April says, "hug him strong and hard...". That combo worked great for us, and my son's friends still talk about it.

Sending you energy and support, MD!! You'll like it much better when this is a distant memory. Hoping that comes soon, or sooner even :)

That's old enough to know better, for certain. How does he justify himself? (ie, everyone else is doing it, somebody dared him, just doesn't care anymore, just "wanted" to....)

Mark, you know better than most how hard it is to hold your anger, or no lash out at people that are being, well just dumb asses. Your son needs to correct his bad behavior, but remember to give him a chance to understand what he does is wrong and not just focus on the punishment, making him more angry or upset, with all though, good luck and I hope all turns well!

There is a reason he allows them to influence his decisions..... Did you address that?

Dr. G.

Make the punishment fit the crime then double it to make the proper impression. Sometimes you just have to do what ever it takes to successfully make an attitude adjustment. Good luck and don't completely rule out water-boarding. LOL

Amoung other thing mentioned above I would take him to a walking track throw his backpack on him and let him do a little road march the distance from your house to the school. I would think after three days of that he would appreciate the finer points in life, like an easy bus ride.
