Police: Orlando Man Killed For Customized Car
A 22-year-old man in Orlando was shot and killed for his customized car that featured Lamborghini-style doors, according to police.
Investigators said Apopka resident Mack Sparkman was leaving his apartment at Timbersound Boulevard and Raleigh Street Sunday night when he was shot and dragged from his customized 2006 Dodge Charger.
The two gunmen jumped in the vehicle and drove away, according to police.
However, the vehicle broke down about 500 feet from the Timbersound apartment complex and the culprits then fled the area on foot.
"Detectives this morning are quite disgusted by the motive here," Local 6 reporter Samantha Knapp said. "They said the motive is all for a vehicle."
"We are talking about a piece of metal that you drive to and from work," Orlando police Sgt. Richard Ring.
Sparkman's death is the 31st murder within Orlando city limits in 2006. In 2005, there were only 22 homicides.
Anyone with information concerning the crime is urged to call Crimeline at (800) 423-TIPS.
