  • Ben has requested that I produce a map for us, showing the locations of all our pictures that we take on Leap Year.  Therefore, here is the first map!

If you would like to participate in the Leap Year Photo Challenge-- you may visit this article, HERE, to learn more about the challenge.  If you would like to let everyone know where your picture was taken, just leave a comment here including your screenname, city and state!  I'll put a dot on for you!

The dots will be place on your city-- no addresses, please, just cities, states, and if another country, the country!  I'm looking forward to seeing all the pictures around the world, on Leap Year, Feb. 29th!

Please join me in wishing all Leap Year babies Happy Birthday!  (This includes my college friend, Neanderthalis sweetieus!)

     Thanks for your participation!

    Thanks for coming by!

  • After having a conversation with some other viners we decided we would like to have everyone that want's to, shoot either the sunrise or the sunset on one day and all of us publish on the same day. So we've picked the last day of February the 29th, (Leap Day) to do this. In short, take pictures of either your sunrise or your sunset or both if you like on that day and then publish your article on Friday, March 2, 2012.

I'm thinking it will be really cool to see one day that Newsvine is flooded with images of the sun from all over the world! So let's see if we can get all of our friends that have a camera and want to participate. For ease of finding the articles, I suggest you add the tag " leap-day-sun, " (you can just copy the tag right from here) to your article so all we'll have to do is "watch" that tag. You don't have to belong to a particular group to participate, as long as you add the tag, everyone will be able to find the article.

So to sum it up, take your pictures on Wednesday Feb. 29th, publish on Friday March 2, and add the tag " leap-day-sun, ". Let's see how many folks we can get to do this and see the sun on one single day from vantage points all over the world!

  • It's been awhile since we started our group exercise (July actually), and there's only been two photographs completed. This was meant to be a way for us to get to know each other and to tweak (or teach, whatever the case may be) our collective photography skills.

I expected there to be lulls in the game (we're all busy, after all) but considering the considerably long lulls in it so far, I think it's time to make a change.

The game started of with RDW, who graciously volunteered to be first. He then passed it off to DoYouHaveAFlag, who passed it off to sorrelen, who, unfortunately, wasn't able to complete the challenge in a timely manner due to her busy wedding planning schedule and the subsequent honeymoon. She stepped aside for the time being and DoYouHaveAFlag chose to challenge believer-369603, who turns out to also have a busy schedule. Both, as far as I'm aware (sorrelen hasn't gotten back to me yet), still want to complete the challenges that they were given.

I'm impatient though and I know some of you are as well. We'll presumably have two threads going at once but I would like to start a third. This additional thread will hopefully help us to get some regular content coming to the group, once the other two get going.

So, any volunteers, or do I need to pick on someone? Maybe you need to know the challenge first:

You must take an appropriate photograph that portrays a real book title. Use your imagination. This challenge is meant to test your creativity and your ability to interpret.

    Happy photoging!
