  • While CNN pundits spent a lot of time defending asking Newt Gingrinch about his ex-wife’s interview after the debate tonight, they should be asking themselves…why did we not give Ron Paul equal time (ANY time) tonight? The answer to that is obvious: they too, like FOX News, are giving preferential treatment to their pick…and they are all for the guy who cannot win against Obama…Romney. Between starting off debate with that nonsensical question to Newt, they then summarily ignored Ron Paul almost entirely on all ensuing questions. To which the crowd had to INSIST Paul be asked a question!

When you ask yourself, hmmmm, who should I vote for? The answer is obvious: whomever the media is deliberately trying to either trash, or silence. As ’08 showed us…Obama is not in either category. As this cycle is showing us…neither is Romney.

No matter which side of the aisle you are on, vote for the guy MSM trashes/ignores most, and we might just get a President that restores our faith in politics, and in ourselves.

Ron Paul for President…or pull the lever for Newt. Either will be better than Obama, and I’m a Democrat.

  • The Rolling Stones were called a group with no musical talent in 1963.  49 years later they are the longest musical group in history.

They hate war and have been all over the Neocons

  • At the rate American Politics are headed we are all in for disaster no matter which party is in power.    We have seen the results of the Far Right during the Bush Administration basically allowing Corporations to have their way with as long as they paid to play.  Some Democrats were just as bad, 10,000 dollars in your freezer, that’s a cool investment.  The Republican rule proved to be disastrous except for the rich, they did very well at the expense of the middle class and the poor which have fallen further behind and have less now than they did since the Great Depression.

The Bush Administration started the bailout of the Fat Cats that almost destroyed the average Americans financial stature.  Obama has tried as hard as he can but the Republicans started out on day one to destroy him.  Granted he does have his hands full and it’s almost a miracle he has survived the problems passed down to him.  The far right would love to see Obama fail but I think he will end up letting them down and do fairly well.

We should have let some of these banks fail or at least put the crooks behind bars instead of letting them collect millions of dollars for running companies into the ground.  Let’s face it we are not Democrats or Republicans we are pawns being distracted by the corrupt political, corporate and the media machine.  The United States isn’t a capitalist nation it is a Corporatism nation ran by corporate tribal leaders (CEOs) somewhat similar to the Taliban who leave out the violence for the most part, unless you count Backwater.

Obama crawled from the bottom to the top and Bush rode in on his father’s name but some say he was genuinely concerned with the plight of the American people.  Bush took the advice of his far right staff and ended up pushing this country to the brink of disaster.  I don’t believe Bush tried to leave the country in the shape he did but those who surrounded him didn’t care.

The biggest criminal of this century is no doubt Dick Cheney.  Cheney broke international laws and admitted it with no remorse. Rumsfeld headed up two wars with no exit strategy. and then we have the players like Sara Palin, Keith Olbermann, Boehner, Pelosi, Karl Rove, Wall Street CEOs, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and the majority of Congress.  Even the Supreme Court got into the act by giving Corporations rights guaranteed to individuals.  Some of these individuals deserve to be demonized and some don’t.

Then you have the Republican game plan created by Carl Rove called Swift Boating, now our children don’t know who the real heroes or if there are any good public servants. In today’s political culture the more you are demonized the greater chance you are a good honest public servant.  The Democrats have decided to use Swift Boating this election cycle after years of complaining about the Republicans using this tactic.  I guess if you can’t beat them join them no matter how bad the consequences.  Our news organizations and especially Fox News is another entity that is not good for America, if you have to say you are not a liar you probably are one, if you have to spend millions to  advertise that you are “Fair and Balanced” you’re not, get real and quit drinking their poison.

Most of the Tea Party Leaders are just as hazardous to our country as the thief’s steeling our pensions in the middle of the night.  The Tea Party has some good ideas; some of them would have really helped when the last administration was in office while the Republicans were spending money like drunken sailors.  Come on tell the truth, you just have a grudge against Democrats and especially this President and any intelligent person would have to agree that the Tea Party is just aimed at Democrats not some true core conservative fiscal policy.  Then the Democrats have Acorn and MoveOn.org both organizations with some checkered pasts but no spin machine is better than Fox News because they have convinced some intelligent people that they report the news in a fair and balanced fashion.

The Tea Party is so upset about the deficit; I still want an honest answer and not hyperbole about your noble intentions when the last administration was running up the deficit.  Where were you when thousands and thousands of people were killed for a war justified by lies?  Don’t give me that lame excuse that the Democrats signed on to the war in Iraq either, they were fed the same lies as the American public.  Then you act like you have on lock on Christianity and make cruel statement like “At least the killing is happening in someone else’s country.” how hypocritical that’s not being Christian.

We need to stop listening to the media and the misinformation being tossed at us.  The citizens of this nation need to understand that the media sensationalizes news events to up their ratings.  We need to draw our own conclusions and use our brains because we are just as smart as most of these people running the government your just not near as crooked and greedy.  I don’t care if you are a Republican or a Democrat we are all neighbors, friends and above all citizens of the same country, don’t let these crooks divide us for their political and financial gain.  Let’s unite because we care about our country, about each other and about our children and all of those who will follow.

We do need to drill but our priority should be to end our dependence on fossil fuels.  If we had the courage, the wisdom and the expertise to send men to the moon why can’t we set goals to end our dependence on foreign energy resources that are costing us billions of dollars and untold amounts of pollution?  We can do it but we have to get past the corruption of the corporations and the politicians that can’t see past their next quarterly earnings or campaign contribution statement.  We can do anything we set our minds to as long as we weed out the greed that stops us.

It is time to break the through the corruption that has ran the American Political Culture for the last fifty years and insist that our public servants serve us and not British Petroleum, Brown and Root, Halliburton, Chase Bank, Morgan Stanley and all of the rest of the crooked companies that are destroying our lives and our nation.  We can’t let them fool us into believing that our fellow citizens are the enemy because they are a Democrat or a Republican, we need to throw those labels in the trash.

They want us to fight each other so we are distracted all the while they sneak around and steal us blind. Why we are arguing which party is the best there is corruption in both parties. We need to wake up and quit listening to these crooks! We need to stand up against them and stand up for each other and not some political motto that lets the crooks continue to screw us while we are busy praising our party and criticizing the other.  Currently the majority of us are puppets playing the game that the crooks want us too.  Reach out to your friends and neighbors’ no matter what their political affiliation and say loud and clear we are FEED UP and DO WHAT is BEST for our COUNTRY  and don’t do it with a tea cup in your hand, that’s juvenile.

We have to become responsible citizens and caretakers of our country and dismantle pay for play once and for all.  The few honest politicians don’t have a chance as long as we all have the wool pulled over our eyes.  People think about your actions, if you are part of slime political organization you probably have been brainwashed. Do you really want to hurt someone because they were brainwashed by a different party?

Don’t repeat the garbage you hear from the media, reach out and talk to your neighbors about what you believe in and listen to them and you will find out that most people agree on the fundamental issues but we have been led to believe the other side is the problem, there is no other side.  It isn’t the political menu you have ordered or the other side causing the problems; it is the crooked politicians and corporations that only care about stealing your money and corporations paying for laws that allow them to get away with profiting at the expense of our future.

  • This rather brilliantly cuts thru all the political doublespeak we get...........   Food for thought..... This puts it into a much better perspective and is the same for many countries in Europe ...   Why the U.S. was downgraded?:

    * U.S. Tax revenue: $2,170,000,000,000
    * Fed budget: $3,820,000,000,000
    * New debt: $ 1,650,000,000,000
    * National debt: $14,271,000,000,000
    * Recent budget cuts: $ 38,500,000,000

Let's now remove 8 zeros and pretend it's a household budget:   * Annual family income: $21,700
    * Money the family spent: $38,200
    * New debt on the credit card: $16,500
    * Outstanding balance on the credit card: $142,710
    * Total budget cuts: $385   Got It ?????   OK now Lesson # 2:

Here's another way to look at the Debt Ceiling:   Let's say, You come home from work and find there has been a sewer
backup in your neighborhood....and your home has sewage all the way up
to your ceilings.   What do you think you should do? ......   Raise the ceilings, or pump out the crap?

  • Latest US sanctions against Iran. We hit them in the pocket book! Their oil....

  • To hear President Barack Obama describe the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq, you’d think it was a long-anticipated political victory, the fruition of a promise he made when campaigning for the White House. But his announcement last week that American troops in Iraq will return by the end of the year is a result of a serious Obama Administration failure that will undermine U.S. security interests in the Middle East.

  • Not one mention of our foreclosure crisis. We are facing four million more foreclosures this year...it will only continue unabated from there,, and NOT ONE WORD? Are you kidding me? Is he really that clueless? Does he not understand that this is the SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR in our economic recovery?

Oh yeah…he knows. But gosh, he thinks we are already recovered (imagine laugh track inserted here) and any more effort would require some hard choices in our favor over banks. He lost his spine the day he was elected and surrounded himself with Wall Street gang of thieves.

Worse yet…Republicans did not even mention his omission on this either. No side of the aisle will be safe from my scrutiny from this night forward.

How does one even imagine a "focus on economy," without the word “foreclosure” being mentioned even once? How is that even remotely possible? Underwater mortgages, home values falling with every new foreclosure, banks foreclosing on homes without even trying to modify as was “mandated” (using that term veeery loosly) banks robo-signing to illegally foreclose, and foreclosing even on homes with no morgtages on them? See how many times Obama could have used the word foreclosure in one sentence?

Show me where he mentioned anywhere in his speech ONE WORD about our melting middleclass home ownership and wealth. How we have lost 20-40% of our equity in our homes, and the banks are sitting on shadow inventory waiting to pounce on those of still standing. He only spoke of stock market soaring, corporate profits soaring…Corporate tax breaks for those he just said were doing so well? Really? That, as millions lose their homes and jobs. Here’s complete transcript:

    http://www.wwl.com/Full-transcript-of-Obama-State-of-the-Union-addres/9057791

Now, if you don’t want to read the whole transcript, that’s okay…it is not worth ANYONES time…none...no matter which side of aisle you're on, or who you're sitting by. If, however, you want to read something that is worthy of your time, here are a couple of articles you may find enlightening:

He has a bunch of other ones too that will make you want to run to the bathroom holding in your vomit at the indifference of our government, and I encourage you to read each and every one of them.

To further insult our intelligence, Obama spoke of lofty goals in our kids’ education, even as states are closing schools in record numbers around the country, and laying off our teachers. He spoke of investment in infrastraucture…roads, highways already being needlessly fixed as teachers are laid off. Student loans…what is the outcome of the governments takeover of deciding who gets help and who doesn’t, and since it was folded into HCR, does any of us really know how much was cut?

Republicans should have seized on foreclosure crisis…they did not. More hot air, just like Obama’s speech. I am so disappointed…this should be their moment, their time. BOTH parties showed us they are completely ignoring the massive amount of foreclosures that have already taken place, and those that are coming.

And did you catch the hint at Cap ‘n Trade coming soon?

Over the last two years, I have tried to hope this President would wake up and prove me wrong on his agenda, his motives. Tonight, he proved me right yet again. His agenda is to destroy the middleclass, and on that, he is succeeding tremendously. What I found out tonight that is equally scary…Republicans aren’t going to do anything to stop him.

Oh boy, we’re in BIG trouble.

  • This is a U-Tube presentation which speaks of the Christian work of our first two president's, Washington, and Thomas Jefferson (the least spiritual, christian of the two). The first US Bible was printed and paid for by the US government, and it was duly recommended by the US government for the schools and to the people of our land.

Knowledge can provide impetus for everyone to re-think what the truth about our government the first 100 years of its existence truely was. This video takes the veil off the untruths being told by people who want to take prayer and God out of our schools, and why is that?

Enjoy this well articulated history lesson, A U.S. Capitol Tour, by David Barton. It may just turn your head and your heart in a new direction. Listen to the Christian history of our government.

  • Just to preface what I will impart here, the answer is yes on all. And what is worse, MSM has largely ignored this breaking news in the “greater public interest” of letting you know that Jerry Brown used the word “whore” in reference to Whitman on a recorded message. Based on what is coming to light in what banks are doing to us…isn’t the word “rapist” the one we should be using to describe the banks and the one we are focusing on now? One would think, right? But both MSNBC and FOX are largely ignoring the biggest story, the biggest fraud perpetrated on the American people…to bring you breaking news of two guys who fell into a water tower in Hollywood, Florida!

So here’s what has unfolded. On Thursday, it was reported that large banking institutions across the country have been foreclosing on homeowners across the country without proper documentation needed to do so legally. The courts are just now beginning to recognize that lenders do not have paper trails on loans that are required to legally foreclose. Instead, they are now cutting corners, using MERS to circumvent procedures once held as a standard with courts, rubberstamping docs without due process.

Banks set us up for this…for foreclosures to spread across America like a Colorado wildfire. In fact, they bet the loans they were making would fail…yes, fail. They sold anyone with a pulse mortgages, and then packaged them up as AAA paper…mortgage backed derivatives. The notes on these loans were sliced and diced a long time ago…the very notes they need to show when foreclosing on anyone. Since they knew that the majority of these bad loans would fail, they hedged their bets with credit default swaps. When the S^&%$ hit the fan, as they fully knew it would, they set upon the most profitable course that would further line their pockets…they started massively foreclosing with reckless abandon. But what they didn’t consider is that they would get caught, along with their co-conspirators in Congress. Well, the day of reckoning is here, and it’s going to be one to remember.

    http://www.miamiherald.com/2010/10/08/1864566/foreclosure-freeze-widens-as-fears.html

Banks have frozen foreclosure proceedings, title insurers are blacklisting bank-owned properties, judges are denying summary judgments and distressed homeowners are arming themselves with attorneys in attempts to delay or stave off foreclosure.

``This is going to change everything,'' said Shari Olefson, Fort Lauderdale attorney and author of Foreclosure Nation: Mortgaging the American Dream.

On Friday, Bank of America announced it would be halting all foreclosure sales nationwide, the aftermath of revelations by so-called ``robo-signers.''

Other lenders -- JPMorgan Chase and GMAC -- have also suspended their foreclosure operations, and some potentially tainted Fannie Mae foreclosure sales are being delayed as well. Together, these lenders own more than 3,000 properties for sale in South Florida -- more than two-thirds of the inventory.

There is mounting speculation that more lender suspensions are yet to come.

While the nation's other top residential mortgage lenders -- Wells Fargo and Citibank -- have maintained that their foreclosure processes are clean, recent depositions show more lenders may soon be facing the same allegations that have hampered other banks.

Ironically, Congress members were scratching their heads on Friday as to how a bill facilitating the Banks’ ability to continue with their fraudulent foreclosure methods passed so quickly, so easily…the “gee, I don’t remember voting for that one” tactic was immediately employed from Dems even as bill was summarily passed and sent to Obama’s desk upon story breaking!

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/10/07/AR2010100707155.html

But Democrats were trying to figure out Thursday how they allowed a bill to pass that critics say would introduce more fraud into the system, a Pelosi staff member said. It was sponsored by Rep. Robert B. Aderholt (R-Ala.), the first measure he sponsored that passed.

The vetoed bill, which is two pages, would have required local courts to accept notarizations, including those made electronically, from across state lines. Its sponsors said it was intended to promote interstate commerce. Lawmakers saw no problems when the House approved it in April by a voice vote, which leaves no record of votes. The Senate passed the bill unanimously last week.

Now….isn’t this just soooo convenient. Bill passed House last April, but only sailed effortlessly through Senate last week. Fraud was revealed this week.,,,just in the nick of time. By the time it hit Obama’s desk, we all knew. Much to their surprise no doubt. I was going to write my first glowing article on Obama for vetoing it, but then I realized he had no choice. By the time it hit his desk, we probably knew more about the ramifications of his signing it than he did…too late. I will give him kudos for at least on this one…setting aside his hubris just once for the greater good for the American people, but I’m still pretty sure someone had to get between him and Geithner to help him see the light. I do find it hysterically funny that he has not brought this up on his campaign trail as he speaks to the woes of homeowners…or Repubs as party of no…hmmmm, wonder why? Equally curious on why FOX news spent majority of their time on Brown/Whitman scandals instead of this. MSNBC…again, the only guy they have on that station that is worth a s&^% is Dylan Ratigan…the rest were doing the same as FOX…dumbing it down for those who would rather just blindly take the path of least knowledge. Ratigan is the one only one who had a thorough conversation on this…the only one, and to him I say…thank you.

Get ready America…our financial system as we knew it will never be the same again. Our way of life is forever trashed…and this has been in the making since Clinton pushed thru expanding mortgage loans to low/moderate income borrowers, easing credit requirements with Freddie and Fannie…Bush did the set-up dropping anti predatory rules, but Obama is the real three-point “get’er done guy.” He is the one who has purposefully facilitated, and with more knowledge than any of his predecessors, the continuation of this legalized fraud…he hired Geithner to make sure he handled it in the way that kept their momentum going…what more does anyone need to see?!

So…what to do? If we really want to collectively change our country..take back our power…perhaps we should all just stop paying for those fraudulent mortgages. I see a definite case for that…why should we hold the entire bag of bad for a bank who screwed everyone? And…as it sits, legally, there’s a good chance we would emerge the victors in any foreclosure brought in front of any judge…don’t take my word for it…do your homework…just do it.

    Rapists…all of ‘em.

  • Michael Bennett is the worst of the worst. He ran around before the HCR vote gathering signatures of Senators who would support the Public Option inclusion in bill. Then he ran a fund-raising campaign based on his getting it included in bill...only to never even offer it as amendment. The dollars he raised based on it, can be deemed nothing short of theft of his constituents...he lied to raise money, and now is asking us to forget that in his election bid:

    http://fdlaction.firedoglake.com/2010/03/24/frosh-sen-michael-bennet-wont-offer-public-option-amendment-still-seems-not-to-understand-how-legislative-process-works/

“In a moment of pure comedy, Bennet states that he “will continue to fight for the [public option] until we get a vote.” Clearly Bennet doesn’t have the vaguest understanding of what the word “fight” means–because he doesn’t even need to fight to get a vote on the public option. All he needs to do is exercise his right as a senator, and politely ask for a vote on the public option by offering an amendment.”

Colorado voters…don’t forget. Don’t forget he ran a fund-raising campaign promising you he would get public option in bill. You gave him money, you believed. He did nothing, did not even ask for a vote on it. But he took your donations. And then he did nothing.

Michael Bennett should be sheared…he is a shark in sheeps’ clothing. He is just another disingenuous lying politician. Vote him out. He has proved himself unworthy no matter your political affiliation. He is the worst of the worst, and then some.

Don’t forget Colorado…don’t forget. Vote Michael Bennett out in November.

  • Another day, another day of government lies. Today was no different. When I saw this headline, I knew already it was misleading. But I gave it the benefit of my now insurmountable doubt and went in to read the latest lie our government bestows upon us every day. This one hearkens me back to the term “sweeping” financial reform, or “historic” Healthcare ”reform.” False hope packaged and wrapped up with nicely titled bow intended to mislead and offer nothing they promise.

    http://realestate.aol.com/article/experian/_a/underwater-borrowers-get-a-lifeline-on-september-7/201009020001

For your loan to qualify, you must meet these conditions:

    - Your mortgage must be in a negative equity position.

    - You must be current on your mortgage to be refinanced.

    - You must occupy the subject property (one to four units) as your primary residence.

    - You must qualify for the new loan under standard FHA underwriting and your FICO score must be greater than or equal to 500.

    - Your existing loan must not be an FHA-insured loan.

    - The existing first lien-holder must write off at least 10 percent of the unpaid principal balance.

    - The refinanced FHA-insured first mortgage must have a loan-to-value ratio of no more than 97.75 percent.

    - If you have other subordinate mortgages (such as an equity line) they must be re-subordinated and the new loan may not have a combined loan-to-value ratio greater than 115 percent.

    - Your total monthly mortgage payment, including the first and any subordinate mortgage(s), cannot be greater than 31 percent of gross monthly income. And total debt, including all recurring debts, cannot be greater than 50 percent of gross monthly income.

    - You cannot use the new FHA mortgage to pay off existing debt obligations in order to qualify for the new loan.

    http://www.doctorhousingbubble.com/fha-insured-loans-fannie-mae-freddie-mac-loan-market-dominated-by-fha/

For the first quarter of 2010, FHA insured loans backed $52.5 billion in home mortgages while Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac combined backed $46 billion. This made up 95% of the entire mortgage market. So much for banks lending out their “own” money (which is our bailout money)…

So…if you have an FHA insured loan, you won’t qualify. Forget all the other exclusionary requirements for this “lifeline”…95% won’t qualify on this one alone!!

    - Your total monthly mortgage payment, including the first and any subordinate mortgage(s), cannot be greater than 31 percent of gross monthly income. And total debt, including all recurring debts, cannot be greater than 50 percent of gross monthly income.

Yeah…now we’re at 100% won’t qualify. Even without these disqualifying requirements, no one could use this “lifeline”…just another program that is predicated on voluntary bank participation, and negative incentive for them to do so:

To encourage second lien-holders to participate and extinguish fully or partially any second lien, the existing second lien-servicer will be entitled to a onetime incentive of $500 for each successful closing. There also will be an incentive for investors, based on the combined loan-to-value of the existing lien, and all senior liens associated with the mortgage.

Hopefully, these incentives will be enough to encourage your lender to participate.

This poor author who has written more than 25 books appears to thrive on false hope. If banks are not required to participate, are incented by giving them $500 to write down 10% of unpaid principle balance…or extinguish second liens…IT WILL NOT HAPPEN! When are people going to realize every single headline that suggests this administration is doing anything to help stave off foreclosures is a blatant lie. It is downright cruel to promise help when program content clearly shows none exists.

The question is...why? What is the Obama Administrations’ goal in purposefully ignoring the single biggest threat to our overall economy…over and over again? Could it be that their goals are different from the welfare of the American people? It certainly looks like it to me.

This isn’t a“Lifeline”…it’s a noose, getting tighter every day. As I’ve said before many times, there is nothing worse than false hope, but our Government is employing it as a cornerstone of their agenda. Whether it is the foreclosure crisis, financial “reform,” or Healthcare “reform”, Americans (who haven’t already experienced it) are getting set up for a whole big bad bowl of disappointment…dumping more fuel on an already stoked and angry fire.

  • While this administration would have you believe his agenda and that of Democrats in Congress, provided for the passing of “sweeping” financial reform…he is deliberately misleading the American people what the bill will and won’t do. To preface…the bank stocks all went up after they had a chance to digest its contents…that should be our first clue. Unless we excuse that away, and listen to the White House spin and those MSM pundits who are not prone to taking the time to understand what it all means.

Financial reform, and all of its intricacies, is a tough topic for even those of us who follow it religiously. My mind is not wired for economics, so I really have to work hard at keeping up. But our economy is the single most important thing we should be focusing on, so I put aside my aversion to it, bit the bullet, and tried to understand it the best I could. And then one day, I awoke to this new guy Dylan Ratigan on MSNBC. After watching his first show, I swear I heard angels singing, harps playing, the clouds parted, and I felt I’d been saved!

Mr. Ratigan is the only MSM pundit who knows what the hell is going on, and isn’t afraid to talk about it on his show. Mr. Rattigan offers a concise explanation of the financial collapse, what is happening…or not…to fix it, and does it so any “layman” can understand. Without him, I would not be able to write this article with any real understanding of what happened on The Dodd-Frank bill that just passed. I suspect many feel the same way, and instead run from anything other than what the latest rightwing or leftwing blowhard is telling them.

The White House is counting on that.

This afternoon, I seeded Rattigan’s summary of what it means to us…and to the banks. I’m having a nice conversation with myself on that thread because no one wants to touch it! Anyway, I thought perhaps I’d write around it to do what Dylan does so fabulously…make it as simple to understand as possible for anyone, who like me, loathes all things financial. It is just too important to base our thoughts on what we hear from pundits who go get the White House press release off the fax. So I want to do my best to help Dylan in what he is trying so hard to do…make it easy.

Here is Mr. Ratigans summary of this Dodd-Frank bill passed early this morning:

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dylan-ratigan/politicians-lie-media-app_b_625885.html

Don’t be afraid…it won’t bite! It will however make it plain as day that this White House does NOT want true Financial reform. It will however make it readily apparent that Geithner and Summers had only the banks interest in mind. It will show that Chris Dodd and Barney Frank are also Pro-Banks. It will illustrate undeniably that taxpayers just got a royal f*&)*)#%.

The only thing we have to be afraid of is a President who finds such ease in misleading the American people. We got a Healthcare bill that takes care of Insurance Industry, and he calls it “sweeping reform.” We get a financial reform bill that takes care of Wall Street and the banks, and he calls it “sweeping reform.” Simple stamping a title on a bill does not change the contents within…does Obama think this will not be exposed?!

And, I guess he forgot the strong arm Geithner put on Blanche Lincoln, and the ensuing smear campaign done on her by her Dem peers…they have succeeded in making even the most liberal think she is a “conservadem.” Huh? How’s that? She offers an amendment that at least at a minimum, speaks to solving the problems that caused the financial collapse, and she’s vilified by her Democrat peers? I am confused…is anyone else? Here’s a link to learn more about what went on with that:

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/06/23/AR2010062305352.html?wpisrc=nl_politics

As crafted, the bill calls for almost no structural changes to Wall Street. Big banks will continue to be big. Financiers will be allowed to engineer complex financial securities. And a small number of firms will continue to hold the vast majority of the assets of the financial system.

Lincoln's provision stands out as a notable exception.

Before this bill, 6 banks hold 63% of our GDP. After bill...6 banks hold 63% of our GDP. Isn't that called...what was that trem...let me think...oh yes...TOO BIG TO FAIL.

    Who’s to blame for this:

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/05/06/senate-votes-for-wall-str_n_567063.html

A move to break up major Wall Street banks failed Thursday night by a vote of 61 to 33.

Three Republicans, Richard Shelby of Alabama, Tom Coburn of Oklahoma and John Ensign of Nevada, voted with 30 Democrats, including Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada, in support of the provision. The author of the pending overall financial reform bill in the Senate, Banking Committee Chairman Christopher Dodd, voted against it

What? Republicans vote yes on reform that actually does something…Democrats vote no? Can it be…is everybody sitting down?

Democrats are the party of “no.”

Let’s be a bit more precise

Republicans: party of “no”…to bad policies.

Democrats: party of “no”… to good policies.

Now, it depends on if you are pro-banks, pro insurance, of course. If you are…your Democrats just voted how you wanted them to. If you are pro-taxpayer, then…your Democrats just voted against you.

    And…so did your White House.

  • My head is absolutely spinning. Do any of us really know what we are getting out of our President on a daily basis? I had a boss like this once…it drove me insane. One day he’d give me approval on something, only to change his mind the next day…most often, after I had already implemented what I had asked for. He lost my respect after the second time it happened, and Obama is no different.

    For example:

    Offshore Oil Drilling

    Candidate Obama: Against

    President Obama: For…and now against.

Pulled the “hat-trick” on this one…perhaps he refers to it as a “3-prong approach.”

    Healthcare

Candidate Obama: No mandate, Public Option

President Obama: Mandate, NO Public Option

    Tax Cuts for Middleclass

Candidate Obama: 95% of Americans will receive tax cut.

President Obama: Middleclass taxes added in form of healthcare, and proposed climate change bill he supports. Additionally. Child Tax Credit will return to $500 from $1000. And,the tuition credits will be limited, as will the earned income tax credit.

    Iraq War

Candidate Obama: Troops will start coming home in 16 months. Against the Bush “surge.”

President Obama: Troop withdrawal in 2011…maybe. Implements own “surge”…bigger than Bushs’s into Afghanistan…adds another billion to war spending per month.

    Lobbyists

Candidate Obama: Won’t have a seat at table in his administration.

President Elect and POTUS: Hires 11 lobbyists for cabinet positions right after election. Also hires Timothy Geithner and Larry Summers…both who are entrenched with Banks and Wall Street.

    DoMA

    Candidate Obama: Repeal Act

    President Obama: Chirp, Chirp.

    DADT

Candidate Obama: Repeal it in first year.

President Obama: Second year in, he finally pushes for it, but only in words. Enacting….see GITMO below.

    GITMO

Candidate Obama: Will close GITMO, end rendition.

President Obama: It takes time…and rendition is fine, oh, and kill suspected terrorists on sight…fine by him…have at it!

    Rein in the Banks

Candidate Obama: Implement strict regulations, and make it so banks can’t keep making risky investments at taxpayers expense.

    President Obama: Chirp, chirp.

    And the latest:

    http://the-spirit.newsvine.com/_news/2010/06/17/4525399-coast-guard-stops-oil-recovery-barges

President Obama: For helping the Gulf

President Obama: Actions speak louder than words.

Yes, Our Vacillator in Chief. Just ask yourself…what if he was your boss at work? Wouldn’t you be at the water cooler bitching to co-workers as your utter frustration boils over? Or perhaps you’re a “yes-man”…go with the flow to keep your job, even if your bosses’ vacillating is making it impossible to perform at a rewarding level. Maybe that is why he even has an approval rating…go with the flow, it’s easier.

  • Ok, here it is. After 14 months of trying to figure out just what the President could propose that would gain unanimous support of the GOP, I finally have it! While watching the beginning of the Bruins/Flyers game, the traditional singing of God Bless America came on. (The Flyers have done this for all my life). And it hit me! Its been proposed before, but has never succeded. Now the time has come. Mr. President, change the National Anthem to God Bless America!

  • For the past two years, many people have talked about the need to go back to the original intents of the founding fathers of our country. This is all very good, if only those people had taken the time first to actually read and understand the words and wisdom they perportedly thought from which we had strayed.

After the latest misinterpretation, I think all politicians, political pundits and any others who see the need to "quote" the makers of this great country, should be required to actually read from the original writings that which they quote. Had Sarah Palin done this on The O'Reilly show, or had Bill himself had the facts to set the record straight then and there, the country as a whole would be far better off.

With that said, I think it best to start to post some actual writings of the Founding Fathers so that just maybe a debate may insue that has a basis in fact. It would be easy to start with their actual thoughts on religion and government to aid Sarah in her education, but I feel most everyone is aware of the "seperation of state" foundations there.

Here is an article written by James Madison published in the National Gazette, February 20, 1792. The thoughts expressed here are as pertinent today as they were then.

    "On Types of Goverment

No Government is perhaps reducible to a sole principle of operation...... It is useful, nevertheless, to analyze the several kinds of goverment, and to characterize them by the spirit which dominates each.

Montesquieu has resolved the great operative principles of government into fear, honor, and virtue, applying the first to pure despotisms, the second to regular monarchies, and the third to republics. The portion of truth blended with the ingenuity of this system sufficiently justifies the admiration bestowed on its author. Its accuracy however can never be defended against the criticism which it has encountered. Montesquieu was in politics not a Newton or a Locke, who established immortal system, the one in matter, the other in mind. He was in his peculiar science what Bacon was in universal science. He lifted the veil from the venerable errors which enslaved opinion, and pointed the way to those luminous truths of which he had but a glimpse himself.

May not governments be properly divided, acording to their predominant spirit and principles into three species of which the following are examples?

First. A government operating by a permanant military force, which at once maintains the government, and is maintained by it; which is at once the cause of burdens on the people, and of submission in the people to their burdens. Such have been the governments under which human nature has groaned through every age. Such are the governments which still oppress it in almost every country of Europe, the quarter of the globe which calls itself the pattern of civilization, and the pride of humanity.

Secondly. A government operating by corrupt influence; substituting the motive of private interest in place of public duty; converting its pecuniary dispensations into bounties to favorites, or bribes to opponents; accomodating its measures to the avidity of a part of the nation instead of a benefit of the whole; in a word, enlisting an army of interested partisans, whose tongue, whose pens, whose intrigues, and whose active combinations, by supplying the terror of the sword, may support a real domination of the few, under an apparent liberty of the many. Such a goverment, wherever to be found, is an imposter. It is happy for the new world that it is not on the west side of the Atlantic. It will be both happy and honorable for the United States, if they never descend to mimic the costly pageantry of this form, nor betray themselves into the venal spirit of its administration.

Thirdly. A government deriving its energy from the will of the society, and operating by the reason of its measures, on the understanding and interest of the society. Such is the goverment for which philosophy has been searching, and humanity been fighting, from the most remote ages. Such are republican governments which is the glory of America to have invented, and her unrivalled happiness to possess."

To read this one article and see the vision that created this country is to understand why an education in the Founding Fathers is more than just an interesting hobby but a requirement that will help preserve what they so labored to establish.

How close are we to falling into the trap which is alluded to in the second case? Do we possess the wisdom that is possessed in this one article?

  • Listening to his latest “campaign” speeches, I am waiting to hear an unrestrained “Baaaa.” His support is dropping for a reason. Many are beginning to see him beyond the façade he hides behind. He is amiable, charming, intelligent, well-spoken, and convincing to those who base their opinions only on these attributes. Those very qualities are his “clothing.” Or cloak more appropriately, if one reaches beyond the comfort of being pleased, and looks beyond what it masks.

First, how has our situation changed since Bush? I still hear Bush-bashing daily, and I am onboard with most of it…he was a horrible President. Using that largely universal point of agreement, let’s evaluate what it was that made Bush so bad:

    1. Took us needlessly into Iraq based on concocted lies about WMD’s to the tune of $10 billion per month.
    2. Spent like drunken sailor
    3. Grew deficit with no concern on it being paid back
    4. Allowed Wall Street to engage in highly speculative behavior with investor money…all unsupervised by SEC.
    5. Careless attitude in responding to Katrina disaster
    6. Catered only to lobbyists…our voices were effectively muted.
    7. Did nothing on immigration...ignored multiple letters too from AZ Gov Janet Napalitano
    8. GITMO
    9. Didn’t repeal Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell
    10. Did Nothing on DoMA
    11. Implemented “surge” strategy further involving us in Iraq War
    12. Did nothing to regulate Banks/sub-prime and prime lenders in extending liar loans
    13. Did nothing to stop Wall Street from bundling and CDO swaps….allowed Wall Street to gamble outrageously with our picking up 80% of all losses.
    14. And last but not least…he handed over $700 billion to bailout the very people who put us in this mess in the first place.

Oh yes…he was a terrible President…there is no disputing that. He not only caused a lot of our economic downfall, but he literally sat by and watched as nothing more than a casual observer. Yet, we thought maybe he just needed more time, and we re-elected him to a second term.

Now…take a moment…as much time as you need. Remember back to the ’08 campaign. Hear the words, the promises made…feel the inspiration in those words like you did then, but focus on the policy you voted for. Take your time…go back to your notes then…go back to the articles you wrote, or videos of debates and speeches…truly reflect on what you heard then…go back to “our moment, our time.”

Now here we are. We elected our first black President…boy what a proud and defining moment that was. We had hope for change…the overall message we voted for was that Obama promised to “change the way things were done in Washington.” He repeated this often…it became entrenched in our psyches. So going off list above, where are we sixteen months into this Presidency:

    1. Still in Iraq, spending MORE than $10 billion per month with Afghanistan added, and Obama now espouses “surges” with goal being to “get Afghanis ready to take over initiative themselves”…sound familiar?
    2. Spending like a drunken sailor
    3. Growing deficit with no concern on paying it back
    4. Allowing Wall Street to engage in highly speculative behavior with investor money…all still unregulated.
    5. Careless attitude in responding to oil spill disaster.
    6. Catered only to lobbyists…our voices were effectively muted.
    7. Did nothing on immigration...Janet Napalitano noticeably silent on issue now.
    8. GITMO
    9. Didn’t repeal Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell
    10. Did Nothing on DoMA
    11. Implemented “surge” strategy further involving us in War
    12. Did nothing to regulate Banks/sub-prime and prime lenders in extending liar loans
    13. Did nothing to stop Wall Street from bundling and CDO swaps….still allowing Wall Street to gamble outrageously with our picking up 80% of all losses.
    14. And last but not least…he handed over $787 billion to stimulate the economy…bailouts continue unabated.

So…my question is are we in any different place than we ended up with Bush…is anything different than where we were? Is anything better?

Yes. We have a President who makes us feel good while he does exactly the same the thing as Bush. He has supporters thinking he is different through nothing more than his words. He’s all warm and fuzzy, comforting, nice, sweet, and gosh darn it…isn’t he just adorable?!

That, my friends, is a Bush in Sheep’s Clothing.

  • Anyone who even suggests this is either woefully ignorant, or simply spouting what the White House would be thrilled to have us believe.

I have never heard from anyone who is angry with our Government that it is because our President is half black. What I have heard is that they are angry because they are losing their jobs and homes and our Government seems to be implementing policies that promote the destruction of our wealth. This anger is not defined by party affiliation. No one is immune to job losses and home foreclosures based on whether they are Republican or Democrat…are they?!

Now, our Government and their right hand liberal media cohorts would like to have you believe that those who speak out are either racists, seditionists, crazy, violent, or simply so partisan they will try and stop policy that would otherwise promote progress. It is a huge smear campaign to tamp down the voices of the disenfranchised masses who have seen their accumulated wealth stolen from them, their jobs and homes gone in an instant…and our Government doing only things that make it worse for them. Spending us into oblivion on policies we will have to pay for on both ends…taxes and then out of pocket to comply with their mandates. One only has to look at the enormous burden they just laid on American taxpayers with the Healthcare law. A perfect example of us paying to reduce the deficit they created by over spending our tax dollars…double whammy, no?

I think we can all agree that Obama and his band of merry ex-Wall Street advisors are not stupid. They know exactly what they are doing. The Right is condemning them for redistributing wealth to the poor…they are dead wrong on that. This administration has quite a different goal in mind, and that is to redistribute wealth to the Government! There is no safe harbor from their agenda, no matter your income level…all of us are being systematically reduced to a subservient status. In the not too distant future, the only jobs that might be available will be with the Government…won’t that be just lovely? All of us out of work desperate for the work that only our Government can provide…what a rosy image that elicits…not.

For those who are pleased as punch with what this administration is doing to us…YOUR ignorance is what would compel me to think of terms for you: racists, seditionists, crazy, violent, or simply so partisan they will try and stop policy that would otherwise promote progress. Your indifference to policies and their outcomes is what will be our collective downfall. You’d be surprised how angry you would feel if you got deeply informed on what is happening. Only then will you understand the root of the anger in America. Only then will you feel the pain of your neighbors. Only then will you want to stand up, use your voice too, and say loudly ENOUGH. And then, how will you feel when you are smeared for doing nothing more than speaking aloud your dissent?

It’s time for liberals to stop using the race card, and dig into the roots of the anger. We can’t wait for all of you to lose your jobs or homes too for you to wake up. If anger turns to violence, it won’t be because of racism…it will instead be due to the deaf ear turned to all of us by this administration, and the agenda that serves only to bring us all to our knees.

  • Washington, Feb 24 -The U.S. House of Representatives today voted 406-19 to pass H.R. 4626, the Health Insurance Industry Fair Competition Act, introduced by Congresswoman Betsy Markey and Congressman Tom Perriello. The two-page bill repeals the special anti-trust exemption that health insurance companies have enjoyed since 1945, and will restore competition to the health insurance market to promote affordability, improved quality, and greater consumer choice in health plans

  • Any good lawyer knows…you never ask a question when you don't already know the answer.

Obama apparently is a good lawyer. On Monday, he put out "his" healthcare proposal. It is not "his," but rather the Senate bill with a higher price tag. Now, he is touting an earnestness to have bipartisan support of a bill that has already been turned down by both us and our Republican Senators…why rehash what he already knows will be the outcome?

Because…he is first and foremost, a maneuvering lawyer. We are the defendants. Any of us that opposed the Senate bill, will be dealt with by making us say "NO" yet AGAIN. He knows we will, and just like any good lawyer, he thinks our seeing Republicans say no can be used against any detractors. Here's the maneuver:

Step 1: Put out a "proposal" he already knows will be met with resistance. It's the same proposal, only more expensive right?

Step 2: Say "see, I told you so…they will never say yes to anything. They are obstructionists." When we already said no to this one, right?

Step 3: Use reconciliation justified by the "obstructionists" and say…"what else could we do?" They will say no to everything.

My hope is that the Republicans will come loaded with a simple alternative. You know, the one that President Obama frequently mocked without reading. Solve the problem with no cost to the American people.

Republicans…tomorrow, please bring a one sentence solution to solving the skyrocketing costs in healthcare that won't cost us a dime. We all know what it is, but just in case:

    Repeal the anti trust exemption.

Don't let him set you up. Come armed and dangerous with this solution and the proper rationale. Come ready to call him out on the Senate bill that rewards the Insurance Industry both in taxpayer expense, and in individual expense…yes, they are two separate expenses. Your taxpayer dollars will go to subsidies, etc AND you will have an added expense each month in paying for coverage. To find out approximately what the Senate bill will cost you each month, please check out this calculator:

    http://healthreform.kff.org/SubsidyCalculator.aspx

After putting in your own income, put in what it would be for those earning more. What I found out is that the percentage of income goes down the more you make. At $25,000 per year you pay 7.4% of your income. At $250,000, you pay 1.8%. After using the calculator, do you still feel good about this bill?

It's all in the set up. We are at the two minute mark…are you going to blow the whistle, or let the government shoot baskets unfettered? I'd be happy to take a few "obstructionist" fouls if it meant stopping this ball from advancing. Let's beat them at their own game…all of them…before it is too late. Right now, it is Team Government vs. Team American People…set ups can go both ways, right?

  • Stubborn, unrelenting…or perhaps,...well, delusional? It started with lots of hugs as he walked into the Chamber. He hugged the Secretary of the Treasury, Timothy Geithner, and I knew what we were in for. After a day of watching said Secretary absolve himself of any blame in what led to our economic disaster, our President chose to 'embrace the ridiculous.' This to me was a prelude to me for words that will not equate to action by this President. He still does not get that the American people are tired of his un-substantive speeches. Oh the storytelling, seeking to draw us in…get all warm and comfy, only to be assuaged by hollow words that seem to fill the gaping voids we are all experiencing. Words that invite us in, make us say hey, wait a minute…that sounds fabulous! We want strength, commitment, and firm strategy to deliver on "campaign promises." He fell miserably short in delivering tonight, because everything he said, was said long ago…in his campaign. Everything he said could've been executed a year ago, but weren't. He ignored the sage advice of Paul Volcker at our expense, and instead listened to the likes of Wall Street sweethearts…Timothy Geithner, Ben Bernanke, and Larry Summers. But here we sit. He chastised those that said we should wait…but that is exactly what he has done…wait, or delay…or just downright ignore, it makes no difference.

The pivot Americans were looking for was one that would be fiscally responsible, one that would give us a clear picture on job creation, economic growth, and ensure we were not laden with any more taxes, and more burdens put on the middleclass or corporations that would otherwise hire them. He sent a clear message that he wants Cap 'N Trade to move forward, and the Senate Healthcare bill. Both would put inordinate burdens on the middleclass in the form of taxes no matter what Obama may suggest. The message here was "I will spend as much as I can if you allow me to by letting these two programs pass in just this year…and then I'll freeze anything after that…you know, on programs that might actually serve to create jobs."

He asked the Senate to restore the "Pay As you Go" legislation. Am I confused? I thought that was passed BEFORE healthcare debate began…so what is new here? I'm thinking the pay as you go legislation is what might have stalled healthcare because it absolutely did not meet that requirement. On a side note…thank you Republicans for saying no to this bill…and I will thank you too for saying no to Cap 'n Trade up next! Keep up that "just say no campaign"…Americans across the country are thanking you!

Side note…just how do you "tighten belt" while at the same time you're asking the Senate to pass Crap 'N Trade…AND Healthcare? Simple, you put off spending freeze until after you've spent "what the market can bear!"

"Most urgent need was to shore up banks?" And "He hated what we did to "shore up banks?" He hated it…likened it to a root canal, right? Well…he SHOULD'VE hated it. First, he DID NOTHING to shore up the banks…except their ability to take our money, hoard it, stop lending, and not participate in his programs to help homeowners. What about that can he possibly be spun as being good for ANY of us?! If he had any balls at all, he would've Nationalized the banks…removed the greed, reinstituted the Glass-Steagall Act and returned control to the banks after they were fixed…NOW he's pissed?!!!

He took credit for "stabilizing the banks"…he said "we've recovered MOST of the dollars spent on bailouts." How disingenuous, how utterly wrong…how deceitful can a President get?! I guess he forgets that the banks were given this great deal…they get to borrow from the FED at 0-1% interest, so they can use OUR money to continue taking huge risks. I'm sure many of us don't realize that as they continue to take low or no interest loans from our Fed…that WE ARE ON THE HOOK for 80% of whatever they may lose!! We haven't recovered squat, in comparison to what they took and are taking. And worse…the banks are continuing to profit off of us because Obama has done NOT ONE THING TO STOP IT…did I mention he hugged Timothy Geithner when he entered the chamber tonight?

Jobs will be Obama's "#1 focus in 2010..." WHERE THE F*#& WAS HE IN 2009?!

He reiterated in his speech that he "stabilized the financial system, and recovered MOST of the money we spent…." How? By allowing for banks and Wall Street to make record profits while we languish? He said "we are on track to add 1.5 million jobs by the end of this year…" How? And what sector? "Business is investing again, hiring again…" Who, and where?

If I hear one more time he "inherited the problems" from a man who also said repeatedly "the buck stops here…" I think a small scream will turn into one that frightens my neighbors as I awake from a recurring nightmare. He talks of political gridlock, like he walked into it without having first campaigned on fighting it. He asked in his address, "How long should we wait…" he suggested there were some who cautioned him to not rush into it. One year later though, he is asking why we should wait? He asked the question during the campaign…did he forget?

"We can't let the lobbyists win…" Oh, really President Obama? They not only had a seat at the table you said they wouldn't in your campaign, you invited them with open arms. Last I looked…they won. That brings me to Al Quaeda…Iraq and Afghanistan.

Iraq. You said the surge John McCain supported wouldn't work. You were right. BUT then you employed the EXACT same strategy in sending in, over the course of your first year, 51,000 more troops to Afghanistan. With the same EXACT reasoning as GW…we ramp up so we can stand down and let them take over. You ran on bringing troops out of Iraq…on we were spending $10 billion per month there, and that money could be better used here at home. You said tonight they will start coming home in August…good luck with that…you already showed you're weak on the subject. You let us down. This is one of the "reasons you ran for President."

"Change has not come fast enough." Just like the housing foreclosure or your inability to bring true reform to Washington…blame it on our "impatience." Go ahead…point at Bush, point at Republicans…point at the American people. Your lack of results is all our fault. Impatient? You got about ten months more than you should have…I have no patience for what you have been doing, and finally…there may be enough who do not either. If you didn't shut out Republicans…tell us what you did to include them…give us the transparency you promised. Republicans…give us the plans online that you offer…let us see your efforts that you are saying are being ignored. Let us take some ownership in this.

Obama is facing the adversity of our voices…we are standing up, and after his speech tonight…my only realistic expectation is that we can continue to anticipate the same stubborn resilience.

  • Taking part in empowering ourselves to let Washington know that it is time for them to listen to the grandparents and the parents of this nation is what this article is all about. If you are like me you are fed-up with the out of control spending, printing money by the trillions that we don't have, and appointing Czars who have Marxist and progressive radical left philosophies. This article is about doing something about the problem.

In the Our Mission for Grandparents Unite I will outline what I see as stage one for putting together a team of volunteers in every state in the union.
When that is accomplished we can then begin to put forth our beliefs and things we want our legislators to act on and do, if they would like to be re-elected in 2010.

The key to this project is to get several thousand people on the team quickly, and then focus on the next level on strategy.

I just finished listening to Glen Beck's program about Mom's, Friday, Oct, 2, 2009. I also, read Catastrophe, by Dick Morris, and Glenn Beck's book, Common Sense which shocked me into action. As a retired grandparent, I am fed up with Washington's outrageous spending, unbalanced budget, printing money we don't have, and a whole series of things that Obama is doing to take complete control of everything with the government.

The purpose of this post is to discuss how to organize grandparents and mom's and dad's around the nation to put a stop to the profligate spending that is going on in Washington; which will cause a complete meltdown of the whole economy and monetary system as we have known it for the last century. I believe that the Mom's and Dad's and Grandparents of the nation can change the trend in Washington, sooner than later, if we organize together. I prefer sooner. Leave the political party at the doorstep; we need to form as group, organize by state, and form such a large organization that we will have to be heard.

In my view organizing concerned grandparents and parents is one powerful way to stop Washington's deafness.

  • Let's see if I understand this . . . and can describe it with as few words as possible. The bill is a tidy 1,000 pages or more and growing.

We have a health care plan ready to be shoved down our throats that is so urgent that they don't have time to read it, they don't have a clue what's really in it, nor do we know who really wrote it, nor who the people are that are interpreting it, and the movers and shakers are cooling it on vacation, while we wait with baited breath for their return to Washington to announce their Town Hall tidbits.

This Bill was written by a committee whose leader says he doesn't understand it; passed by a Congress that hasn't read it but exempts themselves from it; to be signed by president that we suspect hasn't read it, and who smokes; with funding administered and controlled by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes; which is overseen by a surgeon general with a weight problem, and financed by a country that's 12-14 trillion dollars in hock.

Where could I possibly be going wrong folks?

That seems to be the current state-of-play!

PS: The Madison avenue advertising juggernaut is in full swing and the television screens, U-Tubes, and blogs will soon be covered up with the usual pack of lies distorting all reality about what is really the truth.

  • Amid the political word battles being aired on TV, Cable, and all forms of media, this article lays out some reasonable alternatives which the current administration seems to want to suppress from the public.

Debate in the House and the Senate are healthy for our Democracy.

It is time for some honest forthright debate in both houses by our elected leaders, both democrat and republican. It is also time to stop making inflammatory statements demonizing either party or the president.

  • In a town hall meeting recently. The title of this article was told to us by the president on June 25, 2009 in his press conference. There was not straight forward answer about the real cost, or whether seniors could decide how they wanted to be treated and what procedures they would be allowed on the new plan. – Forsyth, Georgia

"Why Barack Obama represents American Catholics better than the pope does." by Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, in a recent Newsweek Article entitled "Without a Doubt."

In this article, Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, commends President Obama's "pragmatic approach to divisive policy" and his "social justice agenda." Townsend asserts that the pope, the bishops and pro-life activists do not. However, she claims that Obama, the community organizer president can teach the pope a lot about the Catholic approach to politics. Townsend rants on against the Church's teaching on human sexuality, contraception, abortion, homosexual unions and women priests. She speaks out about the Church's refusal to show compassion for the people. Townsend says these things as though the Church had not written extensively on these topics. In a recent email from Father Pacwa he reports about his experiences as a young Jesuit. Since I am unable to seed this document I am copying his thoughts and feeling about where Townsend, Obama, and Alinsky came from because he learned them first hand from Alinsky, who also taught Obama. Father Mitch Pacwa wrote:

"I recognize the community organizer approach that Townsend commends in this piece. I learned style of community organizing as a novice in Chicago when President Obama was a little boy living in Jakarta, Indonesia. Mr. Tom Gaudette, an associate of Saul Alinsky, trained a number of us Jesuits. I was the youngest man in the group, and I was certainly not well developed in the practice of organizing, but I tried my best in COUP - the acronym for Community of United People - on Chicago's near West Side. Most of the folks were African Americans trying to get their public housing projects brought up to city codes; I especially made contact with the Mexican community near Racine and Taylor streets, a line of housing between Italian residents and the public housing projects. I was particularly drawn to work with a street gang, which saw a lot of gang fights in the year I worked there. In fact, I eventually had to leave the area after having seen a friend of mine killed: they made him kneel down and shot him through the head; they merely beat me up. "

"Despite the trauma, I never forgot the lessons I learned about Alinsky's community organizing. The key to starting an organization was to find an issue that united the people. The issue should be small enough to win a victory, but large enough to matter to the folks. Second, after choosing the issue we had to identify an enemy the community could recognize as the personification of the issue. Usually this was some politician or businessman. Third, an action had to be designed by which the people could attack the enemy and force his or her hand on the issue, thereby giving the folks a victory. That would motivate them to take on bigger and more important issues, while the leaders among the people could emerge. This was a means of bringing power to the people."

"Townsend certainly understands these tactics, as does President Obama. Notice how she has focused on issues of human sexuality, since these concern the most intimate areas of any person's life. People feel these issues quite strongly, so it would be popular to take them on. Second, she identifies the enemies who personify the problem: the Pope, the bishops and the pro-life activists. She develops the strategy of making popular popes - John Paul II, who motivated Paul VI to promulgate, Humani Vitae, which continued the age old Christian rejection of artificial birth control and abortion, and Benedict XVI, whom she portrays as a man sheltered within the Roman Curia who is more concerned with papal power than with love of the people. Her approach reminds me of the battle cries after Humani Vitae: "I don't want the pope in my bedroom." My response is: "You flatter yourself; he does not want to be in there, either. But the pope will insist that God is Lord of the sexual realm, including everyone's bedroom."

As the Health Care Bill moves forward, Townsend, Obama, and others will use this same strategy to tell the public that it is the Church and its hierarchy who is not compassionate and that the majority of the Catholic's are against the pope's, bishop's and other clerics who need to move aside and let Obama Health Care become the law of the land. Father Pacwa's experiences as a young Jesuit are certainly telling when you look at what is happening at the highest levels of our government. Czars, government control, health care by the government, and to think we are a long way from finishing the first year of this administration.

Townsend concluded her article with the statement in green below.

Notre Dame awarded the president an honorary degree because it saw the need to highlight the best of Catholic teaching as applied to politics: the ability to open the eyes of those who would prefer to keep them closed, and to open the hearts of those who would prefer not to know the pain that their actions cause. The pope has a lot to learn about Catholic politics in America. Barack Obama can teach him.

If we are to believe Townsend, Pope Benedict XVI and the Vatican need to go back to school and learn from Obama. I don't think so! This article is so outrageous to me that "unbridled arrogance" hardly describes the temerity of Kathleen Kennedy Townsend. Of course many of you may find her remarks quite palatable.

Is this the kind of social justice that we as a people really want to have in Washington?

  • Yes, we all are responsible for this debt! The personal debt, the national debt, and what all the growing numbers amount to in real dollars is listed below - Forsyth, Georgia

Since the stock market took its nosedive last fall it seems there is hardly a day that passes where the national debt, personal debt, and the collective debt of everyone has not been on the tip of the wage earners tongue in this country, and most probably in the rest of the world as well. This article is about the incomprehensible numbers that have burst into our daily lives. The source for this information is: DEBT CLOCK which keeps this running tabulation of the numbers I posted below. If you click on the CLOCK you will see that the numbers are growing exponentially as I type. The process is mind boggling. It will make you take notice of the seriousness with which our national indebtedness is out of control. I know that many people are tired of hearing about this debt. Now that these figures are all in one place to view, I have a few questions for each of you.

    • Since we all must help pay back our share of this money, is it sane to contemplate fixing things with all the new proposals being suggested by the government, including: any more bailouts, Cap and Trade, The Health Care Fixe (revenue neutral supposedly), Social Security/Medicare Repairs, Immigration, National Defense to mention just a few?
    • Since new job creation is the life blood of the US economy why can't we demand from our Senate and House that they better put a small business creation proposal in the hopper immediately or they will not be voted for again?
    • Is it not way past time to stop playing political party games and stop wasteful spending?
    • Neither the federal government nor the state governments are going to solve the nation's employment problems. We have enough government control of everything right now, in my opinion, no matter what any politician says. Either they start acting on our behalf or we need to make sure they are not reelected period. I don't care what party they represent, they better start looking out for the American people who pay the taxes.

  • Are we going in the right direction? - Forsyth, GA -

Since the November election the American public has been introduced to a new job title term: "Czar," by the Obama administration. This is strictly an opinion and a reflection about the meaning for the concept as Washington is allowing it to be known. Most know that Czars were common to Russia; now the US is deep in Czars.

How many there are, who supervises them, and how effective they will be, what their job description is, and how the Senate and the House will know what they are doing, and lastly, who's budget and expenses control them, are a few of the questions that come to mind? I am sure some of these questions have come into your conscious thought as well.

The poll I have created will give us a basis to discuss your opinions about Czars in our government and what affect they may or may not have in managing the various disciplines they are each responsible for over-seeing.

It is alleged by various sources that there are upwards of 30-35 Czars at this time, and growing. There is no official count that I know of, and the networks are full of conjecture about how many Czars there will finally be.

The list (not definitive and purely for discussion) is as follows:
    • Jeffrey Crowley, [openly gay white man] AIDS czar
    • Herbert Allison Jr., Bank Bailout Czar
    • Alan Bersin, border czar
    • Steve Rattner, car czar
    • John Brennan, counterterrorism czar
    • Melissa Hathaway, [soon to be] cybersecurity czar
    • Gil Kerlikowske, drug czar
    • Larry Summers, economic czar
    • Paul Volcker, economic czar number two
    • Carol Browner, energy czar
    • Van Jones, green jobs czar
    • Daniel Fried, Guantanamo closure czar
    • Nancy-Ann DeParle, health czar
    • Vivek Kundra, infotech czar
    • Dennis Blair, intelligence czar
    • Cass Sunstein, regulatory czar
    • Joshua DuBois, religion czar
    • John Holdren, science czar
    • Earl Devaney, stimulus oversight czar
    • Ron Kirk, trade czar
    • Adolfo Carrion, urban affairs czar
    • Gary Samore, weapons of mass destruction czar

Robert Byrd, the longest serving senator in history, criticized President Obama's appointment of numerous White House advisers, also called "czars," saying the presence of the czars gives the president too much power.
These czars report directly to Mr. Obama and have the power to shape national policy on their subject area.

In a letter to Obama, Byrd, a Democrat, said that the czar system "can threaten the Constitutional system of checks and balances," … Byrd added that oversight of federal agencies is the responsibility of officials approved by the Senate.
"As presidential assistants and advisers, these White House staffers are not accountable for their actions to the Congress, to cabinet officials, or to virtually anyone but the president," Byrd wrote. "They rarely testify before congressional committees, and often shield the information and decision-making process behind the assertion of executive privilege. In too many instances, White House staff have been allowed to inhibit openness and transparency, and reduce accountability."

The words Czar and Kaiser come from the Latin root Caesar — so there should be no surprise about what to expect.

  • Forsyth, GA - A 2009 View of our Values |

In the first five months of this year the US and the world are grappling with catastrophic economic, financial, and personal security dynamics that societies have not experienced in 3/4 of a century. Very little has changed in this world except that Barack Obama is trumpeting his call to the world from the bully pulpit, that "new beginnings" and "trillions and trillions of dollars of debt" are what he stands for in his new job as US President. He is also creating more new debt for this and one or two more generations in the future than any time in history.

A snapshot of the last three decades tells us that the world has experienced an unprecedented increase in prosperity. New technology in communications, computers, and information gathering is completely changing how people live their lives today. Just a few keystrokes on a computer into Google will get you information on just about any topic you choose to investigate. What has not changed is the world's dedication to every human's desire for more worldly things, greater self-esteem, more personal dignity and the insatiable quest to elevate these qualities of pride to the status of virtue.

Not only is this an inordinate concentration of self-destructive force; it leads us to neglect putting others ahead of ourselves. Over the past several decades these very positive qualities for progress and prosperity have taken on another dimension, and that is one of blaming others for our woes. We know it as making ourselves victims and martyrs as we easily blame others for our personal failures and inequities. One can hardly neglect mentioning that biblical teachings about human depravity, sin, guilt, repentance, and humility are not compatible with any of those ideas.

Our personal liberties have already begun to be threatened by various government actions. General Motors, Chrysler, AIG, banks, and other lenders are now owned by the government. Massive loans to keep these companies afloat are so commonplace that there is little regard for punishing the unlawful behavior that caused the mess in the first place. The very inequities that I mentioned are being swept under the carpet for expedience sake.

Health Care, Social Security and desperately needed Social Services are going to be affected by the government's propensity to simply fund more and more debt. Injustice is rearing its ugly head for the smallest of individuals to the largest of corporations. The main problem with these inevitable changes is that governments have never been able to operate anything efficiently, equitably or profitably; simply because they are not spending their own money. Little people and large corporations will be the recipients of dictatorial justice sooner than later.

The government is about to dictate what car you can drive, how you insure it, what your bank can pay you or not, what kind of heating you have in your home, if you can have air conditioning or not. And, oh, if you eat too much Pecan Pie your health insurance premium is going up. If you get sick, perhaps too much Pecan Pie did it, and you aren't covered.

My conclusion is that we may have to let the government control some things to keep us safe, but that assumes that our elected people can all be trusted. I am sure they all can't, so we will get our just deserts in the end.

The basic problem we face as a nation is that we are in danger of losing our moral equilibrium by pandering to our own sinful ways. We all need to stand-up for what we believe in and tell our elected representatives what we feel about what is happening in Washington today. It is high time to recognize that a "Disappearing Conscience" is leading us down the primrose path of devastation and destruction for decades to come.

  • If President Obama really wants to touch the world's 1 billion Muslims in his June 4 speech in Egypt, he doesn't need to spell out a new US policy or recite American expectations of liberties for Islamic nations.

He doesn't need to cite his middle name (Hussein) or that he spent a part of his childhood in a Muslim nation (Indonesia) or that this son of an immigrant and person of color was elected US president.

No, his most powerful message would be one of gratitude, or a big thank-you for those Muslims and their leaders who have stood up for their religion against the purposeful use of violence on the innocent by extremists, especially after the Sept. 11 attacks.

  • In the days after 9/11, as we all sat stunned, deflated, scared, numb, and not having the emotional energy to even think about what to do, our new President emerged with a bullhorn in his hand. He had something to say to all of us. This would be his moment to lead, to shine, and looking back on it….to capitalize.

President Bush: I can here you! I can here you! The rest of the world hears you! And the people -- and the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon!

Here is link to that momentous occasion:

    http://www.americanrhetoric.com/speeches/gwbush911groundzerobullhorn.htm

We cheered, we wanted retribution. We wanted desperately for someone to tell us what was going to happen next. I can remember my heart swelling with pride and hope as Bush delivered us our salvation, can you? We immediately showered him with an 80% approval rating. We gave him the political capital he needed to send us into a war we didn't need. We did not question this new President on going to Iraq, we supported it. Yes…we are as much to blame as he is for not paying attention. We might surmise it was his advisors that steered him. I would suggest they gave him direction, and giving GW the benefit of the doubt, neither he, nor all of us dared to question the move. Because we did not question, and because we did not rise up with one voice to oppose, we all share the blame. We all share the shame. Whether I believe GW was a party to this is irrelevant to the outcome, so I will not infuse my thoughts here on that.

Once I recognized my part to this egregious act, I vowed to never again blindly follow any politician. I vowed to keep my mind open, be diligent in my questioning, and to definitely leave my heart on the sidelines.

That being said, trying to stay true to my word despite how much I like Obama, I have been watching, and listening closely to those who can give me unbiased analysis of Obama's plans, and their likely outcomes. I've been given a crash course in Economics that many would pay big bucks to get, and I have put my adoration for Obama aside so that I can see beyond the surface of things. I will admit, for most of my adult life, my emotions have been my both my doing and undoing…I'm an Aries, so I have to be diligent in keeping it in check!

I am not going to point out the inherent flaws of Obama's policies or plans here, but rather I am going to challenge each and every one of us to delve deeper. See beyond your ideology. See beyond your hope. See beyond your blind love. Do the hard work by putting yourself in the position of those that are close to foreclosure with NO plan to help them. Put yourself in the position of those who have lost jobs. And yes, put yourself in the position of our bankers. Ask the questions these people are asking, and then look at the answers they're being given. And please, don't say I'm being impatient. The only thing I'm impatient about is Obama's impatience…no need to hurry. Would rather have a few things decided than a mass amount of mistakes…but, that's just me, right?!
After doing this, then ask yourself "am I giving Obama a pass?" Is he riding the poll popularity to make sure I don't look? Is he listening to his trusted advisors who may have their own agendas to the exclusion of what is right for all of us? Or, sadly, is he just trying to stay on message of hope?
I'm not going to tell you how to come to your conclusions, other than to say…do not wait to question, and do not accept blindly what you are being told. Political capital is the greatest tool politicians use in distracting us. I still believe Obama has our best interests at heart. But I hold no such regard for those who are putting the plans in front of him to sign.

Political capital. Good for us, or good for our politicians? You decide.

  • Well, it made me smile...

  • President Obama has made a lot of promises during his campaign and now talking on the world stage he is leaving the nation in the background and seeking world friendship in the wrong places---Iran, Turkey, Cuba, Venezuela to name a few.

The Washington spin machine is operating at full speed now and this short article clarifies some of the most common cries you will be hearing from the president's PR machine as his first 100 days come to a close.

  • Heres a proposed use of stimulus funds that will surely cause a stir with some folks. However, like earmarks spending, one mans waste is another mans livelyhood.

  • On the day Cardinal George and the Catholic bishops started their push for conscience rights, Cardinal Francis George met with President Obama.

In his earlier video statement, Cardinal George uses strong language about Obama's opposition to conscientious objector rights for health-care workers, saying it "could be the first step in moving our country from democracy to despotism."

  • "Bishop William Lori of Bridgeport, Conn., discusses in this video how Connecticut Catholics can work against passage of the radical anti-Church bill now before the state Legislature.

Tom Hoopes has reported on the bill — formally called Raised Bill 1098 — in several recent Daily Blog posts. If passed, the bill would remove the authority of Connecticut's bishops to govern their parishes."

This article and video is the Church's for reply to the proposed pending legislation in Connecticut.
