Grasse became known as the ultimate location for perfume creation in the early 19th century. More than 200 years later, thanks to the unique know-how and modern approach of those involved in the perfume industry, Grasse has retained its title of perfume capital of the world.

The three great perfume houses in Grasse 

Fragonard – Molinard – Gallimard

Enjoy a free guided tour (available in all European languages, daily including Sundays and bank holidays) and discover the secrets and techniques behind the perfumes.

In the centre of Grasse, the house of Fragonard is one of the city's oldest perfumeries, taking its name from the famous painter Jean-Honoré Fragonard in 1926.

Molinard, boasting 5 successive generations of perfumer since 1849, invites you into its traditional Provencal bastide for an extremely interesting guided tour through the world of scents. If you wish to purchase a personalised scent, an expert 'nose' is on hand to help you blend your perfect eau de perfume.

Finally Gallimard, located in a delightful village, skilfully combines a note of nostalgia from its magnificent old bottles with the mores of today, notably with its exceptional range of contemporary artisan soaps.
