I've been writing and editing both my own and other writer's work since 2000. I was a beta-reader on the site Perfect Imagination, which tested its beta-readers regularly. If you'd like me to beta-read for you, I would want to receive the story itself and an outline of the entire story if it has multiple parts.

I'm very picky about grammar and spelling, and I've come to find that grammar is a very subjective realm in fiction writing (so I won't tear your story to shreds if you're comma-happy). For categories that I personally read and write in (with an emphasis on write in), I'm very good at noticing when characters are not acting like themselves.

In the past, I have been guilty of writing things that ultimately had no plot. If I'm beta-reading a story and the characters and descriptions are on point or significantly above average, I tend to not care so much about the lackluster plot.

Ideally, I would only be beta-reading stories for categories that I've written in or have an expressed interest in. I also prefer longer, multi-part stories over /br /

I also prefer stories that are a little out of the norm, that maybe don't follow the typical rising action-climax-falling action-resolution frame. For example, my story "Family" (FFVII) was more of a project on character development than plot development. If you find yourself in the position where you want to write a story in order to explore a character and need help generating a simple plot to do so, I'd be very interested in helping and beta-reading.

Stories that I have no connection to. This is more for your benefit than mine. If I don't have a solid background in the fandom that you're writing in, I won't be able to tell you if you're mixing up people or places, or if the characters are even in character.
