When I'm reading stories, as a fellow author, I tend to notice some mistakes, be they continuity or grammar. I became a betareader to help fix those. I try to give as much positive feedback as I can, but, sometimes, I have to hurt people's feelings to point out their writing faults. I won't flame you, but it might hurt your ego a bit. If you want to make you story better before you ask me (or another betareader) to review your story, then just proofread before you ask.

I'm okay at catching spelling mistakes. I tend to see a lot of grammar mistakes in writing, such as a misplaced comma, apostrophe, or period. I can also help with building plot and personality of a character. I can also help with character back stories, too.

I can tell when someone else's character is out of character, but I have trouble with my own characters sometimes. I have a few issues with the tenses of lay/lie (I still don't completely understand it, even after two explanations from a teacher). I put a lot of filler in my stories just to make them longer sometimes (but I do a good job of it).

Hmm... I do love anime/manga, but I don't watch them all. I will watch a few episodes/read a few chapters just to get the gist of the plot and characters. I know quite a bit about most video games, so I'll read fics about those. I like book series fanfics, but I don't know many of them. I also LOVE IT when people have more than one book in their fanfiction (I can almost never write one-book fics or stories). Oh, and crack!fics are awesome.

I don't enjoy yaoi/yuri. It's just kind of... odd. Sorry fangirls. I also don't like to read about pairings that don't exist (not some, but all) such as HermioneXHarry, or IchigoXTatsuki, or AlWin etc. Other than that, I don't care much.
