Reviews for Gotham Is A Mother
bananamoongirl chapter 1 . 5/18/2016
wow, you really know how to get into these characters' heads... just wow! good job!
Anny chapter 1 . 2/6/2016
I love love love your depiction of their relationship! And you've got it on the nose that these people are terrible at communicating. I love that you present it kinda moreso - I thought- from Bruce's pov and the struggle that surrounds his interaction with his son. He does seem like he's trying kinda to understand Jason- to raisin alive his behavior, but of course it's not perfect, not a true solution, and goes against his own code. I got to give props to B to sticking to his code though. That is a whole nother level of conviction. I look forward to anything else you write involving Jason!

Argh that last line! People you love are the most terrible thing in the world. So sad! Nothing worse than two people who really love each other not being able to get their feelings and thoughts across. I need Jason and Bruce to just have a really long father/son hug that heals all their wounds...but that will never happen. Probably. Sigh.

I love your jason, and your dialogue between him and Bruce.

Sometimes your notes are as interesting as the story. And yes, there are definitely other things I should be doing tonight than chain reading your stories heh, but I don't feel like doing much but readin'. Plus I often totally ignore the BatFam for villain based stories. You've read much farther and wider in canon than I for sure, because I actually tend to be more of a Scarecrow (and to a lesser but growing extent, Riddler) collector than a 'Batman' one, per se. I love anything with Arkham on it in print, too, I don't really know why.

It's kind of refreshing. I knew about Stephanie and Cass ...existing, but never knew she faked her death or really anything about the girls at all. So I'm learning, little things like that... And the Jason/Talia thing was news, to be honest, but oh, the 'your mom' jokes he could pull on Dami were Jason slightly more suicidal lol.

You use an FMA avatar (I'm pretty sure, at least, that's what it is) for some Batman stories, I think that is kind of hilarious, because Elric reminds me of Damian more than a little when I think about it lol.

BluSkyRose chapter 1 . 2/25/2014
This is deep and moving and painful and wonderful all at once. I didn't know what to expect, really, but this is fantastic. :') You got everything exactly right.
Dzeytoun chapter 1 . 2/25/2014
This is very well done. Sigh, would that the DC writers were more willing to grapple with these issues. There is one thing, though, which might seem trivial but which I think does get at something important about these characters. You mentioned how Dick would have rather been raised by John Grayson, and I am not sure that is true in either the old or new continuities (although, of course, Bruce could easily believe it to be so, even if it is not the case). It has often seemed to me that a very fundamental difference among these three characters is their relationship to the past. Dick seems to have moved on rather effectively, and indeed in the old continuity even says that if offered a chance to change history and undo his parents' deaths he would not do it. This is a place Bruce can never reach, and as I recall Dick even says that, as much as he would like to tell Bruce how he feels, he doesn't because Bruce just would not be able to understand. Jason, interestingly enough, stands between the two of them, in that he also is haunted by the past, but it isn't a past he wants back.

To be honest, I often wonder if it is a true past Bruce wants back, or a fantasy (talk about something you really could never bring up with him). And here is a dark plot bunny for you: what if Bruce were offered one wish, one trip into the past, one tweak of the timeline? Would, in the end, he use it to save his parents? Or would he try to save Jason?

I am just a big fan of your Jason stories. And I have to say, if what Jason told Bruce about his first known murder victim was THAT secret referred to in BFTC, instead of how Tony Daniel implied, I think everyone would have really accepted that more, even with his gross mis-characterization and going full villain. Though I did like the Gatman suit. If there is a one-shot or another story regarding Tim and Damian you plan to write, I look forward to reading it.
