Mew Universe chapter 1 . 6/12/2015
Oh man, who cut the onions in here? *waterfall of tears*

Poor, poor Jacob... and poor Abraham, too. You did an excellent job of writing their partnership building up then breaking down. It was especially heartwrenching how Julie's mother died...

This story is basically the perfect setup for the Burners to come into play. Major kudos to you on that. :)

Ah, some solid headcannons. The Motorcity section is a lot better than I expected.

The best part of this is how it doesn't break canon. Prequel fics sometimes do that, even the most well-intended ones. But I see the Jacob (and Kane) we know from the series throughout this. Picturing them here is easy and feels realistic. I'm really glad you didn't gloss over much in their transition from amicable partners to authoritarian dictator and back alley mechanic.

At 3k words I think this rounded up pretty solidly. I love lots of details and stuff that's a bit verbose but this is better without too much of that.

Thanks for posting this. : )

Two words: Loved it!
This story of yours really help tie together what may have happened during Jacob's time. Do you think you can do a sequel about him finding out Julie is Kane's daughter and how he feels about it?
I would appreciate it.
Thanks for posting!

I really enjoyed this story. I like reading other people's headcanons when it comes to Kane and Jacob, and what you wrote was something very pleasing, as I could easily imagine it happening exactly like that. Always a little grim when it comes to Kane's wife, but it's no secret she passed away, and nothing about deaths is giddy to read about. Julie's part and mentioning as a baby were a little heartbreaking, the way you made it work and related to the way Kane turned out to be was very well thought through. I liked that you didn't mentioned Julie's name, which obviously makes me think that the actual Jacob doesn't know who she is, but in reality plays a huge part of her life. It was a very sad story, because as much as we all feel some form of hatred towards Kane, we all know he must've been normal and empathetic at one point, and you sure portrayed that very well. I enjoy your work very much! Never stop writing! :)

So, Jacob knew his former friend had a daughter? It makes sense he'd believe the "intern" having her name would be a coincidence.
