i thought you had Tony checking the room over a few times before he left and locked up? it seems very unlikely that an investigater with crime scene experiance of his calibur would miss that. even as upset as he was. wouldn't it be a bit dusty?

unless the teenaged daughter of Fornell was sneaking into Uncle Gibbs' house with a boyfriend they know nothing about. sneaking into a place they would be assured of privacy.

well, looks like Ducky hasn't changed his tune. always making excuses for Gibbs' behavior.

I did go back and reread the chapter about the morning after. Tony wants to believe Gibbs story, yet you have to wonder why Tony accepted Gibbs explanation that he wanted to see if he could still smell Tony. Gibbs just threw something at Tony to make him doubt himself and believe Gibbs. You also have to remember that despite the bed not being made, if things had been left the same for a year then Tony would have seen the dust on the night stand. Nor would Gibbs have had that guilty look and was quick to turn things back around on Tony. As we all know that Gibbs is very good at doing and making Tony doubt himself. Just because Gibbs always asks Tony if he has ever known him to lie, doesn't mean he hasn't. I do wish that Tony would remember that Gibbs is an expert of playing mind Gibbs with Tony just for the pleasure of knocking Tony down and making him look bad in front of the others. Fornell has more than once confronted Gibbs about his mind games and his always cutting the legs out from under Tony over the years and also the favortizem he has always displayed towards, Abby, Kate, Ziva and Tim over the years.

Great how they finally talked everything out. I loved when Gibbs said he slept in the bed because he hoped it would still smell like Tony. Kids see everything. Great ending to a terrific story.

Great story! I loved the angst and miscommunication and the happy ending. I'm glad the mute finally decided to speak and Tony figured out what Jethro was thinking (or not thinking!). I love that Victoria caught them kissing and they didn't even know it, and that everyone else was cool with it - Great job, as always! ;-)
