I'm loving the connection between Severus and Atticus! Atticus imitating Severus' arched eyebrow was just adorable

Oh, I LOVED this final scene. I don't know what it was about Severus falling to his knees to all but beg her to let him protect her and Atticus, but wow. The tenderness was beautiful.

That being said, I mainly wanted to thank you for portraying rape in several often overlooked ways... That her assaulter was her husband, that she was loathe to call it rape because she believed it couldn't be - because she didn't fight him and because she was his wife. Rape is an issue that hits particularly close to home for me, so thank you, truly.

Thank you for the note about him not coming back. My stomach was churning reading this otherwise-lovely chapter waiting fo the other shoe to drop. Would Phillipe get through the wards? Would he entice Atticus out to him? Would he come upon them elsewhere? Would he somehow get the ministry behind him, because he’s the father, or because she didn’t see the divorce through, so maybe they’re still legally married?

It’s nice to be able to read the story without having to fear how he will manage to kidnap, legally or otherwise, her son from her.

What an intriguing concept. I like it for a means of getting them under the same roof in short order.

As it is i stopped only after being assured of his no return status at 04:25 AM :) Now if Hermione could only contact the Ministry get a good job, and sweep up Serverus of course :) my reading day would be amazing!

Thanks for a lovely story! It’s good to see a more sensitive Severus portrayed :) I did notice a little plot hole early on and it did niggle and I kept pulling that thread through the story hoping to have it resolved.. when Hermione’s parents passed away, they didn’t leave her anything? Severus was left with Dumbledores estate.. I would have thought that the Grangers would have been comfortably well off enough to ensure H &A; were taken care of after their departure instead of left to make ends meet. It was also really sad that she seemed to have entirely isolated herself from all her connections in the latter stages and after her relationship with P ended. I understand that she felt that this was her only option, but from her friends perspective I’d like to think that they would have persevered and ‘hovered’ more forcefully until she was able to accept them back into her life.

Hmmmm... While I don't mind the decision to not have an epic showdown with the ex ... I'm still uncomfortable with them not finding some way to trash his reputation/ file charges/ obscure bit of magic so that he couldn't do to another person what he had done to Hermione. (And with her having regained her security, it would be in keeping with her personality.)
Also, a bit of focus on Hermione making friends outside the house/ reconnecting with old ones and building a support network would help fill the lack of tension the second half of the story had, and make the fluff seem all the sweeter for the palate cleanser.

I absolutely bloody loved this story! It was brilliant

One of the many things I liked about this story is how you touched on several of my (some anti-woman, some not) pet peeves:
the "you're married so it's not rape" bullshit,
the "man is boss of woman" bullshit,
that the abuse can (and does) happen to savvy, well-educated, strong women,
that abuse victims don't automatically rebound to hop on the nearest erect cock,
that physical violence isn't the only form of abuse,
that there ARE decent men out there,
that victims can, given time and support, recover,
that said recovery isn't instantaneous when Erect Cock walks by,
that neither party in a relationship has to be perfect,
that neither party in a relationship has to be in control,
and finally, that perspectives change with experience.

If you'd been able to hit on those creepy bullshit "purity rituals" where daughters pledge their VIRGINITY to their FATHERS...yeah, it's a creepy too-pedo-y thing that exists...you'd be my spirit animal.

Kudos on a job well done.
