Reviews for The Many Merry Majorly Mangled Demises of Major Wolfgang Hochstetter
Rockport268 chapter 2 . 9/24
Looks like the boys of Barracks 2 really came through with their stories! I love the casual, unpolished (not not so unpolished that it's hard to read) writing in their stories. I also love how Newkirk won-he's definitely the sort of guy who has lots of stories (both embellished and entirely made up) to tell, but not necessarily the sort to write them down (preferring, of course, to tell them orally). In fact, none of the guys seem to be the writing sort, so it's fun that they have an excuse to try it out. And I also love how Newkirk's story was about dancers ;)
And I LOVE how Schultz came in and joined in to listen to the last story. "...but *this* I think I want to hear." XD Ah, Schultzie. I've always loved him. Just a man trying to keep his head above water and survive the war. He's got more in common with the prisoners than his superiors; it's only fitting that got to participate in some of the fun. Although, I must admit, it is prudent of him to refuse to participate in the next writing contest XD
Rockport268 chapter 1 . 9/24
Twelve days of having absolutely nothing, not even the rec hall, to do? The boys of Stalag 13 really were lucky to end up where they did (minus these few weeks, of course). I love the idea of Hogan coming up with things to occupy his men's brains in the midst of such boredom. And I love how he does it by having them figure out creative ways to kill off their jailer/torturer. It's like a popular kid at school getting all of his classmates to write nasty things about a hated teacher, but without half the fun coming from everybody being naughty.
Hoganfan chapter 2 . 8/16
Very entertaining. I'll confess, I had expected you to have Hochstetter kicked to death by the Rockettes somehow.
momgobloo chapter 2 . 8/5
Lol - Love it! You did a great job giving each different story a different voice, and yes, the boys were very inventive in ways for a Major to perish! :-D
dust on the wind chapter 2 . 8/4
Oh, these are terribly unkind...and wonderfully imaginative! Very well done.
konarciq chapter 2 . 8/4
Hey, how about the others? I want to read them all!

Schultz was a nice addition by the way. And everyone sounds just right - exactly in character.

As for the stories, I really, really enjoyed Newkirk's narrative voice, but from these three, Olsen's is my favourite ;-)
NewYorkChicago1944 chapter 2 . 8/3
Lovely bit of writing that is. I applaud you dear sir
NewYorkChicago1944 chapter 1 . 7/26
Major Hochstetter walking along a road looks both ways and falls down an hole in the road as it is quickly covered up and he suffocates to death
CalmSheJaguar chapter 1 . 7/25
Major Hochstetter is having a fine day. Suddenly, he checks his newspaper. It seems that the world is coming to an end. Five second later, an earthquake toppled his house with him inside.
Visage chapter 1 . 7/25
This is brilliant! I'm sure the boys had a great deal of fun writing their stories. Such great one liners (Carter's best weapon being dynamite was my favorite!) and beautiful language. I always enjoy stories by you, and this one was very creative. Just the right amount of silliness. I look forward to seeing the winners!
Pawthorn chapter 1 . 7/24
Impressive that you’re managing a non-crack story out of this one. Really enjoy that way you describe Hogan watching the other characters’ actions. It felt very warm, and I think it’s part of why this feels like an ensemble piece where many HH fics don’t. Very fun, very much in the tone of the show, looking forward to more!
dust on the wind chapter 1 . 7/23
Oh, this idea of Hogan's is wicked - and spiteful -and utterly delightful. I'll be very interested to see what comes of it.

Well written, and absolutely in character throughout. Good work
momgobloo chapter 1 . 7/23
great premise! can't wait to see what the boys come up with! :-)
konarciq chapter 1 . 7/23
LOL I really liked this! Bring on the second part and let us see what the guys come up with! (The limerick is a bit off on the emphasis though... ;-) It really took someone a whole week to write that?)

Not to be a party bummer or anything, but there actually exists a similar story here. "The Many Deaths of Wolfgang Hochstetter". Pretty old though, so we could do with an update. And the major could do with a few more death scenarios LOL
