Ah Rick and Popuri's arguments over Kai. I can totally see where Rick is coming from and I can totally see where Popuri is coming from as well.

Good New Year's present here. I played a bit of A Wonderful Life recently (until I broke my GameCube controller while playing Super Mario Sunshine. Oops), and Rock always did strike me as a complete airhead. The kind of guy Kai might hang out with but not tolerate too much. Good to see that being used here.

Also, that whole bit with Cliff reaching into his pocket in the beginning... I take it Ann hiked up Mt. Cliff that night? That or Cliff was checking to make sure he had some ammo so he could shoot a bear.

Worth the wait, yep.

Odd that I missed this chapter. How the hell did that happen? Regardless, gotta love the fact that everyone in the town is involved with this story. Most people just neglect everybody save for the absolute main characters (self included. Whoops) in the longer, multi-part stuff. So, Kai's oblivious, apparently... man, that alone makes him perfect for Popuri. Plus, "Popuri reads?" was an awesome line.

Now to head on to chapter 16.

Whoo! I'm so glad there's an update! I liked this chapter (just like all the other ones) but it bugged me that Makoto and Elli never find out what Kai did. It just did, okay! XD Anyhow, it's great and I like how Kai's trying to hide his soft spot. XD Hopefully, things go well. Hehe.

...stupid thing deleted my entire review! The entire thing! *fumes* But this chapter was just lovely, even more so than the last one (which I still have to review, gomen) mostly because of all the lovey summery MakotoxElli moments ( -)

And I completely blame anime and manga for corrupting my poor innocent mind, for when I read this line, "And though his lips barely touched her when he kissed her neck, she felt it overtake her, settling into him as he eased her close," I couldn't help but think that the scene was moving into a more...intimate one (the full details hidden from the readers) between our favorite couple (In her grandmother's house while everyone's asleep, the scandal!) since most scenes like that are transition towards the next scene that shows clothes thrown haphazardly across the room P But I highly doubt Makoto is THAT bold...Or is he? Bwahaha.

But yesh, Kai is being oblivious and jerkish and hopefully will redeem himself in the next 1-2 chapters with the guest appearance of Rock! (Took me forever to realize who the blond kid was, bad me)

Great chapter. I really enjoy the dynamic angst that you put into your characters, it gives them a realistic side that I appreciate. Still, I almost miss having a corpse float in on the tide(poor Gourmet)...

Your writing, as always, is superb. It's been a very long time since I've written in this column or even checked out the writing here, so it's very good to read something so good upon returning.

I can't wait to read the next chapter of this story, it's one of the best Harvest Moon Fanfictions I've read.

Hey! It's chii! Anywho, I'm sorry that life's been cruel. Especially with the alien abductions and all. This one was as good as the others. Trust me. One or two strange things, hm. Actually it seemed like a bad dream, but that could be me. Not in that "holy shit this sucks" was but more like "holy crap is this depressing" way. XD lots of love for you. Hope the aliens will leave you alone long enough to continue. Please don't die. XD thanks for the positive end!

tl;dr

E! What a great chapter! I don't know who to feel bad for - poor passed-out Makoto, poor bewildered-from-two-cute-guys Elli, or poor lying-to-save-his-dignity Tim. Okay, maybe Tim's not lying, but darnit, I still feel bad for him because might as well. ;;

Anyway, I'm glad Elli finally said something to Dr. Luv, as he'd probably poison me for calling him. Leave it to Manna to pick up on the slightest hint of romantic interest. ;;

Makoto and his father have some really interesting interaction going on. Looking forward to The Visit. :D

And it went over pretty well. docd was a bit suspicious, but then again, since we all know he's just saying what he said to alleviate Elli's suspicions... yeah.

Also, man, speaking of Elli, she and Makoto break up and make up like every other hour, don't they? Those crazy kids.

Other things of note:

Makoto and his dad, the ever-tumultuous relationship. I like how it's been portrayed, they've both got some regret and bitterness on either side.

I didn't notice even ONE mention of Makoto (or anyone, but Makoto in particular) "deadpanning" anything. I've been re-reading this fic since you updated (and I'm on chapter 9 right now, I figured I'd review this chapter though while it was still fresh in my mind) and I noticed you used "deadpan" a LOT when describing Makoto speaking, so I'm glad the word went away for a bit.

I'm impressed with his commitment to his work. I mean, it's not at all surprising, but everyone's right, the boy really needs to calm down and take a break and eat a cookie or something. As much of a dick as the doc was to Makoto, he was right all the same: Shouldn't have bitten off more than he can chew, since that causes choking and since this isn't a slash fic...

Ooh, does Ms. Garrett discover them, or does Tootie? I say Tootie, since she and Stu have similar haircuts and all...
