Star chapter 32 . 10/3 Congrats on the story. It was touching, human, and hopeful. The only unbelievable thing was for Luke and Mara to have yet another set of male and female twins. I do realize that this story does stand on its own and and doesn't connect too much with the rest of the legends or Star Wars EU. But how does someone create a machine for ridding the force? Hmmm. |
Star chapter 24 . 10/3 Wow, I think this chapter was the tear jerker. The appearance of Anakin's ghost and comfort he gave to to Luke took the prize. Yup, even Luke needs his Dad. |
tanithlipsky chapter 32 . 6/21 very good |
Guest chapter 32 . 6/4 I’ve read this story twice in full and I enjoy it. I’m also glad that the majority of the comments so far have not mocked and ignored Luke for being raped cause he’s a man, as does generally happen in western society. However, I do agree that it was needless and way over board. Btw, rape affects everyone differently - they’re not pathetic for that. I strongly disagree with some comments on that, but you guys are entitled to your opinion, as long as there’s no double standards. |
megafan81 chapter 30 . 1/26/2017 (comment 1 of 3) I never knew how much I needed this fic until now. Thank you for writing this and not shying away from the subject matter at hand. I am sure the reviewer below me from back in July didn't mean it the way it came out but ignorance such as what was said in that comment is the very reason I'm glad this story exists. I have been sexually abused myself and let me say that someone does NOT stop being a hero simply because some vile person raped them. Luke in this story is still a hero because he fought one of the hardest battles anyone ever can and in the end found a way to save himself. He survived and took back his life. THAT is a hero. I am a hero, to myself if to no one else, and you know what that's all that matters. Sorry, I perhaps went off on a bit of a tangent but the comment below struck a nerve. To view someone, a fictional character or not, as less than what they once were because of another's persons actions is 'victim' blaming at its best. That's never okay in my book. To be continued... |
megafan81 chapter 31 . 1/26/2017 (comment 2 of 3) Okay, back to this story. I am incredibly impressed by how well written this was, especially given the subject matter. I am very glad you didn't have Luke just get over everything in the blink of an eye. Although I would have liked to have read more about his actual recovery, what you wrote... him being withdrawn, the running away from those who cared, his intense struggle to ever open himself up to be intimate again, is so very, very realistic and well done. Even the epilogue was brutally honest because something like this is never truly over, I myself still sometimes wake with nightmares many years later, but it's the honesty of this fic that touches something deep within me. Because it's so raw you can feel the struggle, of everyone not just Luke, and you can understand their desperation and breathe their relief when things start to finally get better. Truly, this is a masterpiece! It is a story of romance as well as one of hurt and comfort and overwhelmingly a story of love from not just everyone who knows Luke but most of all from Luke himself. Continued again... |
megafan81 chapter 32 . 1/26/2017 (comment 3 of 3) I did want to say thanks for one of your spoilers/warnings. Back in chapter 16 when you hinted this wasn't a death fic, that kept me reading as I am not one for death fics often, especially not one that felt as incomplete as this did where Luke and Mara were concerned. I personally also think your other warnings were sufficient, you let us know about the torture and even about the rape in case anyone wanted to skip over those parts. And I personally think those parts were for the most part not overly descriptive, which I think you for, as I have read some that I simply was unable to finish. Again, thanks for writing this story and sharing your incredible talent with us by taking us on this journey. This will for sure be one of the few fanfics I have read that will forever stick with me. |
Guest chapter 32 . 1/1/2017 Great story |
ThunderSphinx chapter 23 . 12/13/2016 Lol, one of the Force Ghosts need to tell them that Luke is the oldest twin xD. Leia keeps thinking she is, hehe. :) I'm glad that Berdin is dead. Good Riddance lol! He deserved more than a Force choke though lol, though perhaps it's a good thing Luke didn't do more. However I highly doubt that Luke would ever fall to the Dark Side ever again. |
Jake Nichols Edi chapter 31 . 11/28/2016 Can you do a story that is continuing from the epilogue |
J N chapter 12 . 11/23/2016 Freaking awesome |
OriksGaming chapter 3 . 7/8/2016 Ok, I forgot to mention that I did read the warning, and knew there was going to be rape(I'm not totally ignorant). I pretty much knew there would be some form of torture, but that's where your themes were extremely misleading. I thought the torture would last a chapter or two at most, and instead I found I had to skip a third of the story to avoid the distasteful parts. |
OriksGaming chapter 2 . 7/8/2016 I can see how some people might like it all, the rape and consequent emotional turmoil, but it's not for me. I don't like reading hurt/comfort stories, which is basically what the second half of the story was; either that, or drama/horror. I honestly think your story is mis-categorized and I wouldn't have read it at all if you'd labeled it with one of those labels. Also, to add onto what I was saying before about the rape, I just don't like when the hero suddenly becomes a damsel in distress. A hero can be tortured and lose loved ones and be forced to give up secrets, but when they get raped or broken completely, they're no longer a hero and they never will be again. At that point, they're not really a hero anymore. I also just want to say, please get rid of the romance title on this. The rape immediately canceled out any romance before and after. This story is completely mislabeled. You're writing's good, but the story's the exact opposite of what I'd normally read- if it had f****** been labeled correctly. Ugh, this just really frustrates me, when a story fails to meet my expectations because my expectations were based around totally faulty information. Sorry about ranting, but I felt it needed to be said. |
OriksGaming chapter 1 . 7/8/2016 I mean, I like conflict and all, but I have to say, the part where Luke's captured is fairly boring. It's a cliché 'you killed my father, prepare to die' moment, and the rape seemed way over the top. Of course, that could just be because I don't really understand what people find appealing about rape, but it just seemed like you, as an author, felt a need to hurt Luke even more. It pretty much ruined the story for me, not because it's rape, per se, but because it felt over the top and unnecessary. There's also the fact that rape is pretty much the end all be all in punishments. Even if I chose to read on after it, I'd view Luke as a broken, rather pathetic person, no matter how you sugarcoated it or had Mara nurse him back to health or whatever. Instead of the captured war hero, now Luke is a victim. It's literally no fun at all reading about a victim. |
DistantPromise chapter 32 . 2/27/2016 I know it's been eight years since you've finished this story but I still feel like leaving a review :) This story is truly amazing. You writing so incredibly good! I got completely swept away by your story and couldn't stop reading until I finished it! You're a very good writer, keep it up! p.s. that first chapter when Luke returned to Tatooine. Crim (?) Pendragon. Merlin fan? :P haha |
