I think one thing I haven't mentioned is how Fye's pangs over his lost magic occupies our attention, and when he just seems to muse about Kurogane with such powerful imagery then goes back to thinking about his lost magic, it just enhances both feelings. It's like you keep me unbalanced and undecided on which I want to focus on. Kinda like the two faces and a vase optical illusion. I phrase it badly but I'm sure you get what I mean.

Fierce and graceless are so shockingly effective, but "flesh and metal and human" is amazing too. I protest when people claim I have talent because I honestly think the only edge I have over the average guy is interest. If ever I'm accused of being talented, I know what example to give them to illustrate the disparity.

That hit me with a punch too, with similar desirable effects as described here. Is it odd that what I liked best here is this bit: "Tomoyo is leaving, soft laughter trailing behind her, and Fye is glaring down at him, fist still clenched"?

Like I said . . . think about the collection of stories idea.

Less than pleasant indeed but a horror that fascinates you while it repulses. Powerful without the mess of bealbouring the point. Truly fine craftsmanship with excellent juxtapositioning and word choice.

I like how you're trying to capture the evolution of Fai from a refined character who'd enjoy fine wines if he didn't get drunk so easily (and provide such a ripe opportunity to be sexed up by the resident Shinobi) to a creature consumed with hunger.

As you put it, " but rather craves it on some primal level that has nothing to do with flavour and everything to do with hunger."

M. *nods* I love them all, yep. Except for maybe 'Haemoglobin', which doesn't feel as finished and prettily circular as the rest of them. Do keep writing!

I know I haven't been reading much lately but from what I know, not many tried writing about the clone the way you did. :P Ok the clone is way too harsh but you redeem him anyway in the fic Always able to write it with just the write amount of quiet emotion that exudes slowly from undone seams

Some favourite lines that are very fitting:

"Days without memories and dreamless nights"

"His right eye hurts sometimes, and sometimes it weeps sluggishly even when the pain is absent. He doesn’t know or wonder why."

Very neatly done so much so that artifice is almost completely hidden leaving only wonderment
