Guest chapter 1 . 9/4/2012
This was such a good read! It was definitely a different take on Teyla, but you would expect that since she was drugged. I really like seeing how much Rodney appreciated her; she was always so kind and patient with him on the show, even though she must have wanted to just yell at him sometimes! Love how he wasn't willing to give up on her.
anon chapter 9 . 2/27/2010
I really enjoyed this story, but I was a little confused as to how Teyla and the other "bad guys" saw Rodney. He may not have been a bodybuilder, and was definately a bit overweight (although not as overweight as you claim here), but he certainly wasn't the kind of physically useless weakling that you portray at the beginning here, especially in comparison to many other men. Rodney, despite his moaning and groaning, was actually fairly powerfully built - wide shoulders, strong arms, good biceps, large hands, etc. This isn't fannish rose-tinted glasses either, it is simply a description of the character (or rather the actor who played him). Did you ever see that episode where he spent the whole time carrying large heavy boxes around and lowering women down mineshafts with rope, just using his bare hands? In terms of sheer brute force he would probably be stronger than John, who while very fit, seems built for speed and endurance over strength.

Just because he was the only non-warrior on the team does not mean that he is automatically a weakling. He may moan about exercise, but he is far from the point where he would be discarded as unsuitable for farm work because of his physical status.

I've seen other fics that have this weird "Rodney is a fragile flower" attitude as well and I find it baffling. His attitude has absolutely no bearing on his physical stature. He may not *want* or *like* to do exercise, but you cannot ignore the fact that physically speaking, he is perfectly capable of doing it, something that would have been obvious to his captors. He may not be very fit, but he is more than strong enough to do the kind of work you have John and Ronon doing here.

I can see how it may be tempting to "other" Rodney further by making him less than what he was in the show, but it is really out of character to do so.

Apart from that strange detail, this was a very enjoyable fic.

I'm so glad that I found this story. It was really really wonderful!
Hettie chapter 9 . 3/25/2007
I got the rec for this on SGA Storyfinders and tried to review yesterday when the lines were overwhelmed. This is so good. I like that it is such a different view and portrait of a surprisingly strong friendship. Good work! Thanks for sharing.
Martha chapter 9 . 3/24/2007
Magnificent - a deeply, deeply satisfying portrait of friendship.
arbitrary9 chapter 9 . 12/6/2006
another lovely story. :) It's such a rare treat to read a story about the friendship between teyla and mckay, one that doesn't have them as a ship; just friends. Great and canon to the show!
Sepik chapter 9 . 11/14/2006
Wow. That was really good. I just read through the entire story... and I'm amazed.

It's going on my favorites list.

You lacked the ridiculous ammount of detail that can either make a story amazing, or horrific. But it was still VERY good.

The way you went back and forth between two seperate crisis... was fantastic. It ended up being so good, just, WOW. I'm in awe.

There aren't enough Teyla Rodney friendship fics.
The Watch Stander chapter 8 . 10/17/2006
Great story, I loved it. Very well written.
Tipper chapter 9 . 10/17/2006
Oh that was so well done! It's so hard to pull off multiple time frames in one story and have it work out as smoothly as this - it was very, very neatly done! I'm jealous! Plus, I adore Teyla stories (there's plenty of shipper ones, but so few where she's on her own as a single, strong character, as if she's not worth writing about unless she's in a relationship). You painted her beautifully. Thank you so much for such a great story!
glocap chapter 8 . 10/16/2006
Yes! It's so good to see her back... even if she doesn't quite remember why she feels the need to protect Rodney. Loved seeing her stand protectively over Rodney reminiscent of the way she protected him in the flashback. Also loved how Rodney supported her while she was fighting and afterwards.
glocap chapter 7 . 10/16/2006
It's good to see the real Teyla fighting to come back. Just the thought of a "fat and lazy" Teyla dressed in cumbersome, restrictive clothing, is just so wrong. Good to have her in clothes that she can move in again.

I'm still loving your use of flashbacks to highlight Teyla and Rodney's friendship. Also love brave, terrified and determined Rodney to the rescue.

And, the cliffhanger... yikes!
krysalys chapter 9 . 10/16/2006
Oh, frickin' AWESOME, my love!

*glomps you*

This was absolutely incredible. All the little touches to make it even more detailed and intimate, and the flashbacks were perfectly sprinkled throughout the story. I love... well... EVERYTHING about the story.

Thank you so much for sharing it with us! *glomps you again*
