I've always wanted to see the show deal with the aftermath of this and explore Brenan dealing in the lull between being the levelheaded, strong person she is. Bravo to you for doing it! And for tying Booth in and making it sweet and sigh-worthy without making it mush.

I love the imagery of water and the implication of Booth being the rock that lets her be and deal her own way but at the same time, keeps her from washing away.

"Offputting" is the last word I'd use to describe this glimpse into the mind and heart of Booth and Temperance. You may be new to Bones writing, but I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that this is far from your first attempt at writing. You have a wonderful insight into these characters, as well as a gift of description and nuance that allows us, the readers, to see into the minds and hearts of the characters. This is the ending to the episode that I missed. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Wow, for such a short piece i thought that was brilliant.

Beautiful. Just... beautiful. I have to say, the minimal dialogue was a great touch, and the little that there was was amazingly poingnant. "Not today." held so much meaning... umm...i just cant wrap my mind around booth/bones. and i dont mean it like that. true, they are the BEST couple ever(or one of them anyway) but i dont think...i dont know...
