| Fanatic Drone N chapter 1 . 11/17/2011 Absolutely fantastic. There are authors, many, many authors, on this site who seem to exist solely to evangelize their creepy pairings to the rest of us. There are 'authors' who spend their time projecting so much of their life into the story that it kills the character. There are some who add short, meaningless chapters to get reviews, streching an okay concept into a far too long fic. And then there's this one. In its brevity, you stayed true to the original, inspired plot bunny, keeping it short and sweet. you could easily have dragged this thing out into a long, exhausted fic, until the original joke just wasn't funny anymore. Instead, you left it the perfect, complete oneshot it was meant to be, not getting nearly as many reviews as the story deserves. Second, you somehow managed to keeep things in-character. The problem of the Gaang acceping Melon lord as their ruler aside, you portrayed them EXACTLY as they would if they ever had tried to overthrow Zuko in favor of a different king. Iroh was a little out-there, but the displays of awkwardness from the group when they burst in were inspired. And, of course, Toph WOULD have the guts to ncase her head in produce and try to dominate the world. This was short and sweet, and word for word probably one of the funniest fics on the site. Good job. On a side note, didn't Sokka smash in Melon Lord's Face after Aang chickened out? I mean, Toph could have just gotten another one, but Sokka technically committed regicide against the king he is now supporting. |
